Google
Very disappointed in this location. I’ve been here multiple times over the past month. The produce never looks fresh. Even the organic section. All looked like it should all be thrown in the trash on a Sunday morning. I love the pre packed chicken salads. Every time I stopped in the salads are all packed days before. Even on a Sunday! Both times I got the salad from this location I got sick. I will stick to the hall road location.

We get catering often to our work from Nino Salvaggio and I have to say they go above and beyond when it comes to catering events. The food is always of high quality and cooked to perfection...they do an amazing job with presentation as well. I highly recommend them for all your catering needs. They are a bit on the higher side with pricing but it is well worth it!

Google
The produce is always fresh and worth the extra money. The prepared food counter has a wide variety of choices, and is okay. The cold dishes, unless mayo based, have the same vinegar base, think 1960’s picnic, whether pasta or bean salad. How I wish they would get l more creative.

Google
It had been a very long time since I’d been here and I passed 2 other markets to get here but I specifically wanted their fruit fluff for the tray I was making. The prices are a bit higher than other places, but the produce was super fresh and delicious! I was disappointed in the fruit fluff though, not as good as I had remembered. I think the place near me makes a better fluff. Overall, a good experience and I would come back. The staff were very friendly but the shoppers leave a lot to be desired… lol!

Google
What a neat little store with TONS of fresh food. The Amish bacon is fantastic and the chocolate milk from a local dairy is to die for. One of the best little grocery stores I have ever been in. Beats the "H" out of the big box stores.

Google
Ninos is my favorite gourmet grocer. Always fresh produce and fruit. Well stocked and clean store. Staff is friendly and helpful. They have an extensive cheese and olive section. Fresh meat/deli & seafood as well and I cant forget their desert section. You can also get quality soups and ready to eat products such as sandwiches and salads.

Google
Bought two Delmonico steaks for this weekend since they were on the Marketplace Ad. Husband grilled them tonight. What superb quality! So incredibly tender and juicy, could nearly cut them with the fork. I’m wondering if they were Prime?! I shop here on an almost weekly basis. Always the freshest selection of produce and I cannot live without their Artisanal breads!!

Google
I love this location and have no issue with the business itself. The cashier Kimberly C, however was extremely rude during my interaction leaving an extremely bad taste in my mouth. Idk if it was sarcastic but that was the most unfriendly, "Have a nice day," that I have ever received. Then tossed my bag on the counter. I asked my partner if maybe I was taking it wrong and he thought she was extremely rude too.

Yelp
Great store with awesome selection of fine foods. Fresh vegetables over priced compared to other grocery stores in the area but they have specialty items not found other places. Prepared foods are delicious, in house dips (feta garlic is my favorite) are all very good. They sell Zingerman's bread. Definitely give it go if you haven't walked through. Fresh baked warm chocolate chip cookies in the bakery are a must!!!!!!! Other bakes good look amazing but taste store bought, not great.

Yelp
I don't really have complaints about my experiences here. I have found that the quality of their prepared foods seems to have taken a slide downward. I like being able to order from the deli counter in the little digital machine when I walk in, but I feel like many times it isn't actually ready when I'm down shopping and I still just end up standing around waiting for my order. It seems like they try to have the fewest number of checks out lanes open at a time and that can really slow down the shopping experience as well.

Dan S.

Yelp
Would not recommend. Great look, poorly managed. Seen employees putting fruit / veggies on the ground back in the bins. When calling to address the issues was hung up on.

Gina R.

Yelp
Regular customer here. Bought 1 filets of fresh white fish for dinner. It was totally RANCID. We eat fish regularly. It was rotten! I wrapped it up tight and threw it in the garbage outside. I'll be asking for my $ back.

Yelp
Nino's is a one stop shop for most of your party needs. Over the years, Nino's has consistently stayed top notch. First of all, the market is classy and the food is always fresh. If you are looking for party trays, Nino's does an amazing job. I ordered the large Fruit Tray, Veggie Platter, and the Meat & Cheese Nibbler for a special celebration. The platters are huge and the quality is what impresses me. If you are hosting an event, trust me, the platters are fantastic and so easy to order.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful supermarket. You just walk in here and food looks better and Brighter. Everything here is top notch. And oh what a lovely meat case. This location is smaller than the bigger one on hall road but I always prefer to get my groceries from here.

Yelp
Love this Ninos! They have a great selection of produce and the store is always cleaned and stocked. The workers are friendly and helpful and it's not usually that crowded.

Laura S.

Yelp
Great selection. Fresh made caramel apples are heavenly. Some foods are a bit pricey but mostly worth it.

Gemini M.

Yelp
I have been shopping there for over 25 years. Not sure if I will ever go back. I have never had such a rude cashier. No greeting, no smile, a very bad attitude and NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS WHAT SO EVER. PRICES HAVE GONE UP A LOT AT THIS MARKET. I don't mind paying a little more, if I get the customer service. This Cashier has not business working with the public and I question the quality of the training she may have received. My guess is none. One very bad experience gets you a very bad review, it was that bad, that I will not return. You better believe I am going to tell many about this experience.
google avatar

Nicole E.

Yelp
Smaller Nino's, but as nice and as helpful and friendly as any other one. Not as vast in the international varieties as would be preferred, but suitable for most, I suppose. They carried jarhead corn chips and queso dip, I had to get another quart of Fresh OJ, though it didn't taste as sweet or as good the one from Village market from earlier. Their meat was fully stocked and they had a decent amount of bread options too, rare in these times. Prices are reasonable here as well.
google avatar

Homer S.

Yelp
The deli is the worst at this place the people they have working there are not friendly and are rude you ask for half a pound of something they give you 3/4 pounds ask to slice thin and the give you thick they act like they are doing you a favor will never go back to this place

Yelp
THIS Nino's was crazy busy at 11am on Friday the 7th.. probably because there were a few food stations setup to sample hot dogs, potato salad, fruit, so people were shopping and also eating. Not my neighborhood since I shop at the Hall Road location which is much bigger. Took my mother there because she's tired of Kroger vegetables and fruit. She was amazed, overwhelmed and happy to get fresh vegetables knowing that some were made in USA or Michigan. Small store but enough Bakery, bread, coffee strudel made by different companies which is nice besides Nino Salvaggio products. she was pleased overall. I bought Cherry tomatoes for $2. cucumbers 2 for 1.00 and some red leaf lettuce for $0.99 which was very good to add to a large package if Aunt Mid's spinach I bought to add to my daily salad.. Check out ladies very nice, Talkative and fast. Tight shopping areas but probably since weekend..made my MOM'S day !
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
Strangely, this Italian market famous for its quality produce, seafood and meat also carries a wide variety of German products to soothe your cravings for Deutschland. You can also find all the big names in Detroit for hot dogs and wirst here be it the Dearborn Co., National Coney Island, or Kowalski.
google avatar

Dee K.

Yelp
Not sure what to think. Seems like they're not paying well. You get what you pay for. Clearly giving a chance to some who may not be able to get employment elsewhere. That's cool. I see mistakes being made that will hurt business. Don't raise your prices like other stores due to inflation. Prices are high enough already.
google avatar

Yelp
So so disappointed. My husband and I shop here often but this was the first time I purchased pre-made food. I am so upset that we found a bug in the roasted vegetables. Everything looked so good I got a bunch of different prepared foods. I threw it all out after being so disgusted by what I found. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because they were really helpful and refunded my money for all the food I tossed. We will probably continue to shop here occasionally but I will never purchase any of their prepared foods again. Sucks because they have so many options.
google avatar

Lori S.

Yelp
Quality fruits & vegetables. The speciality chocolate that they sell is amazing. They carry many specialty items and not to mention the breads, cakes, pastries. The cheese's, lunch meat s from the deli counter and the to speak of the meat counter! This particular location is not as large as some of the other locations but they carry quite a bit for the size of this store! The employees are very friendly!
google avatar

Mark A.

Yelp
I love this store BUT there's two major problems lately. The deli has been poorly staffed for a few months now. And the service has simply gotten worse. There's a sweet senior back there that has no business being in a high volume department. And for gawd sake CHANGE THE FOOD once in a while. Same things every single day pretty much. And cashiers aren't paying attention to how awkward the lines are now. The store is too small for delays at check out.
google avatar

Rob P.

Yelp
This is the place to go if you want to find some off-the-wall fruit or vegetable they can't find anywhere else. I wanted celery root, and they didn't have it at my favorite fruit and vegetable market, but they had it here. If you've seen it as an ingredient on Chopped, there's an excellent chance you can get it here. Dragon fruit? Got it. Black garlic? No problem. But, for that kind of convenience, expect to pay a premium. The prices aren't that bad, but for common things like potatoes and onions, you can do better at a typical supermarket. Having said that, the quality of ingredients is always superb. This is my favorite specialty market.

Linda M.

Yelp
Food and service was great, store was clean and looking good for Christmas the help was very helpful and friendly

Jill B.

Yelp
Yes, "Nino's" is the place to go for big, pretty shiny fruits and vegetables of all kinds. Yes, they are always well stocked. But what a disappointment in the meat department! I've had three recent cuts of beef now that are no better than horsemeat: Porterhouse, sirloin and strip steaks. This latest piece, the sirloin last night, had a texture unlike any cut of meat I've ever had, it was tough on the outside (not related to cooking technique). I have been a meat lover- especially beef- my entire life. My family used to get our meat from McInerny Miller in Eastern market; this company used to supply all of the high end restaurants back in the day. It would be the equivalent of Fairway packing today. So I do know what each cut should offer in taste and texture, and quality. I've had much better meat from Kroger, unfortunately. I'm sure one comment doesn't matter to them, but this customer is very disappointed.

George M.

Yelp
Peppers are infested with ants, a lot of mold in the baskets by the produce, most of the items I shop for are out of stock, and all the employees look at me weird and laugh very immature staff.

Clyde S.

Yelp
we shop at Ninos for fresh vegetables and other items. you have to be really careful what you buy. For instance, while there, picked up Bay Leaves . I just threw a bottle in the car. i checked the price when I got home. the receipt said $17.95. I confirmed that price on nino's web page. the same bottle was less than $7 on Amazon . ninos is the only place where I have overpaid for dry pasta , and foume bugs when I got home in the wrapper. some lunch meats are over $15.00 a pound. I could go on and on but basically do not shop here for price .
google avatar

Anthony D.

Yelp
Friendly staff and I got their pizza good asf and like that they sale Italian Ice Respect!
google avatar

Tony T.

Yelp
Please educate your employees that if a fruit or a vegetable falls on the ground NOT to pick it up and put it BACK ON THE SHELF! Saw an employee do this TWICE and told him to throw it away! He looked at me like I was crazy. Spoke to a manager about it and he didn't seem to care too much about it. Do a google search on what was found under peoples shoes after being swabbed... that's tracked all over the store. Also way too many flies IN the deli counter! Had some deli cut and when she put it on the scale (no lie) 6-8 flies flew off the scale... told the lady I didn't want it after seeing that. Shopped here for 20 years and been going down hill.... not gonna shop here anymore after seeing all that...

Yelp
The new Chipotle Gouda cheese was kicking it! Green and red grapes are both sweeter. Chocolate milk Sweet green and red grapes 2 grilled salmons and herb roasted potatoes Lunch meats, grapes, and milks. The right choice. Wonder why I came here get delicious lunch meats. We get some yellow pepper. Cajun blackened chickens and Spanish rice are also delicious!! I sure take gourmet foods for dinner. They was the best.
google avatar

Yelp
First time here, and, as soon as I come in, the produce and the breads look great. That's a good start! Small specialty market, and the place was completely jammed several days before Thanksgiving. We made a stop in the produce section, and then hit the deli counter for some of their meatloaf. Checking out took awhile, but it wasn't awful. The produce we got was quite fresh, and quite delicious - I'll definitely return for quality produce. The meatloaf was good, and no one felt like cooking that evening, so that made it taste just a little bit better. Still, I wouldn't characterize it as great meatloaf. All in all, I was happy with our trip for groceries here, and will return to try some of their other offerings.

Paul S.

Yelp
If you want good food you can do a lot worse. The deli don't stink. The meat department looks clean. The fruit and veggies are fresh. Prices fir these things are good. They have emergency dry goods and dairy if you need it.
google avatar

Shannon B.

Yelp
Beware! The deli lunch meat and cheese that is pre-cut In the cooler seems so convenient, until you get it home and find out it's spoiled (which was probably why they had it out in that cooler). I bought a huge bag of chicken breasts and came home to find out that was spoiled too. I haven't gone back since the chicken breast incident because it was so disgusting - it smelled like rotten eggs and I'd bought it THAT DAY. It's too bad because I love their bagels, chocolate, and dips. But right now I'm still too nauseous from the rotten chicken to go back.
google avatar

M F.

Yelp
I could have spent hours in here! So many choices and I found things I would never find at my local grocery store. Just wish it was bigger because if you are claustrophobic, it may make you uncomfortable. However, that won't stop me because I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Francine P.

Yelp
Great grocery store with prepared food options. They have everything but Sushi. Lots of help.

Mark W.

Yelp
The workers there mostly do not wear their masks correctly. The biggest offenders are the meat and deli sections.

Jim D.

Yelp
Breads Very expensive. Charge $6.99 For Brioche Bread with Chocolate chips !! Same exact Bread at Aldi's in Eastpointe for $3.90!!!! Just be careful what you are overcharged for.

Yelp
Update!!! I wish I didn't have to do this but being truthful only helps the consumer. Went to buy a steak from Ninos the other day as they were on sale. I have been buying their dry aged steaks as they are fabulous if a bit pricey. Anyhow they had porterhouse on sale for $9.99lb so i figured why not who doesn't like a nice porterhouse? While looking over the steaks I asked the butcher what grade these were and to my surprise they said "select". Steaks grades for those who don't know are as follows from worst to first. Steer (lowest grade for available for resale to the public) Select Choice Prime Now most places advertise choice beef if you notice Ninos doesn't list the type at all so buyer beware. BTW their choice porterhouse was $19.99 a lb and the dryage prime which I ended up buying and the best steak I've ever had was $31.99 a pound and I was able to cut it with a fork.

Yelp
On New Year's Eve, we went to Nino's on Harper in St. Clair Shores, specifically for their deli's baked beans. Not seeing them in the case, we asked if they had any. The girl said, "I'll see if we have some in the back" and she returned with a deli container filled with beans. The problem is that it also had about an inch of "juice" floating on the top, kind of like the stuff that comes out of the can. So I said to her, "This looks like it came straight out of a can." And she ADMITTED that that is exactly what she did. Yup. Went into the back room. Opened a can of beans. Dumped them into a deli container and tried to pass them off to us as Audrey's baked beans. I sure hope she enjoyed those beans for her supper, 'cuz I certainly did not buy them. Clearly, this young worker did not do this on her own. Clearly, this is SOP at Nino Salvaggio's. So all of you who think you're getting some great stuff at Nino's, enjoy your local rip-off center!

Yelp
Trying to eat right can be a challenge sometimes with all the quick alternatives. I mean why don't they have a veggie dollar menu at the grocery store! I love this Salvaggios! I have been going here for years and have never been let down. The produce is always fresh and they have a great variety. The meat and fish counter is fab! I have made many a dinner on the fly with the help of the guys and gals who work at that darn counter. Salvaggio's is one of those markets you just wander around though because they have so many unique things the regualr grocery store doesn't have. Plus it's great for people watching, OH! The premade sauces and pasta dishes are great! I got some eggplant parm from there last week and it was baked to perfection!! Ive been to a couple other Salvaggio locations but this one is my fav by far!! Super friendly and helpful staff as well. The parking lot can be a bit nut-so on a Saturday morning but it's so worth it!!
google avatar

Alyson H.

Yelp
This used to be our favorite place to buy breads, lunch meat and olives. However, recently every time we have gone in we find moldy bread, the lunch meat is just thrown into a bag and not separated, and the olives are over priced. I would rather drive a few miles out of my way and go to Randazzo's. All the employees are very helpful here, and my son loves the free popcorn, but when things are over priced and not fresh you definitely don't get my vote.

David L.

Yelp
Been going there for years. Really gone down. Pick up jar of olives, expired by 6 months! Looked for Bulgarian feta, no longer carry it. Bought cucumber, needed it for village salad, was absolutely rotten. Can no longer depend on quality.
google avatar

Renee A.

Yelp
I so want to love this Ninos! I appreciate that it's there and I don't mind that the selection isn't the biggest. I love their clam chowder and the meat counter is decent. My problem is the produce! Every time I buy strawberries there, the very next day they are bad, even if they are in season. The tomatoes, even grapefruit. It seems to me, they are carrying too much of some items that are not getting sold fast enough. I cant shop here because of the produce issue, it bugs me and I don't have time. It's a shame, because I would really love to stop going to Kroger completely.
google avatar

Natalie F.

Yelp
I can spend an hour just looking at all the different selections of dressings and hot sauces and thanks to that, I've discovered delicious new ways to prepare chicken. Not to mention they have 'Made In Michigan' sections. Beyond all that, every employee here is super friendly and helpful, you'd think they were all given drugs at the beginning of their shift. And the selections at the meat, deli and meal counters? Hard to match or beat. Oh, and if you haven't tried Nino's square pizzas; DO IT! Someone complained earlier that this location is too small, and doesn't have a frozen food section, but that's what makes this location special. It still has that neighborhood vibe and frozen food equals not fresh food. The parking lot can be a little awkward when Nino's is busy (which is always.) With that being said, I am going to miss this grocer when I move to Las Vegas next week.
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
Not happy with this location. I go to the one on hall road all the time and I can say I love it there. Just so much to offer. This one doesn't have a cafe, less bread, just less of everything to offer. I understand it's a smaller store but I couldn't come back after going to the one on hall road. Just a better experience. But I do give them the credit for a small location on doing a good job still.
google avatar

Theresa A.

Yelp
I love Nino's! I shop at Nino's for better quality produce selection compared to the big supermarkets. Prices are reasonable. I feel ok paying for quality rather than the 10 for 10 sales incentive other grocery stores may have (which are not designated for fresh produce and meats anyway) In addition, they have a great deli, their meat and seafood case have better, fresher quality cuts than the big markets, and a huge variety of yummy, ready-made desserts. The staff is always friendly and helpful; I've never been disappointed shopping at Nino's.
google avatar

Heidi S.

Yelp
This has been a favorite business of mine since growing up in Troy. Nino's always has a unique selection of specialty foods, produce, and deli items. I enjoy using their 3-2-1 service to order deli meats and cheese in advance for easy pick up at the store. Most recently, Nino's has begun selling freshly popped popcorn in various flavors which makes a great snack! Saturdays are always the day for offering samples of featured foods too. Always a friendly atmosphere with helpful staff.
google avatar

Matthew D.

Yelp
Places likes Nino's and Whole Foods (or Whole Paycheck as we like to say due to the prices) are great places to shop to get: Ready to eat meal from meats, salads, desserts, etc. Some harder to find items like Faygo, smaller brands & unique items like Arnold Palmer Freeze Pops, yes I will take 6. Fresh fruit, vegetables and a nice assortment of cheeses Wine section is small, but has a nice mix of Michigan wineries It has great customer service, very friendly. Happy to answer or get the answer for you, a very personal touch. Most of staff seems happy to be there, which always creates a nice atmosphere. To Recap: The Good: If you are in a cooking rut, it is a great place to generate some ideas or pick up something fast and healthy if you are pressed for time. Also a great place to pick something if you need to bring food to an event. The Bad: I can come for a few items, but I never spend less than $50 and it is usually closer to $150. It isn't a place where you could do all of your grocery shopping, but it is a great resource to have in addition to your regular grocery store. The Band This Place Most Resembles: Korn. Food that rocks!
google avatar

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
For the high prices their food isn't high quality. Food is always expired at this Ninos store. I went to get a nice block of Parmesan cheese. Noticed every block that said consume by was expired by 2 to 3 months. I've noticed this on several trips on all different types of products.

Lynn M.

Yelp
I happened to stop in yesterday about 6:30 for a couple deli items, as always, stellar deli associates. The reason for my 3 stars ... I get to checkout with my three items, greeted the cashier (older, 45-50 ish, pony tail) no response. I hand her my cash and thank her again, no response. I then say, have a nice evening, nothing. By then, I'm stunned and slightly annoyed and say, a bit cranky? Her response, yep. I had just gotten off an 8 1/2 hour work day on my feet, my job is customer service and I have to be pleasant all day and was with her. All I can say is wow, another associate witnessed the interaction at the first register as I was leaving. It's sad that it still left me annoyed today.
google avatar

Haroun K.

Yelp
I'm in love. In the GP area and grocery-less, my mind (and heart), and then my car drifted toward Nino's. Compared to the Troy store, this place has a less "mega," more neighborhood, feel. I was able to find all of my Nino's staples, even though the layout is completely different from the Troy store. As usual, the produce was impeccable for the most part, and reasonably priced. The cashier was super friendly, and even told me that this was the ORIGINAL Nino's. I will be returning :-).
google avatar

Gary J.

Yelp
I really love Nino Salvaggio's! Although they're a bit over-priced in some areas (ESPECIALLY their little grocery section), they do have a nice selection, and it's a market that reflects how things "used to be" inl the area. I especially love their freshly-made "while you wait" cannolis. Mmmm! My suggestion to the market? If you're going to be slightly expensive, at least join the ever expanding club of markets that offer free coffee to their customers!

Sherri S.

Yelp
I am so disappointed since I have been shopping at this location since they opened. I don't mind paying higher prices for premium produce but not anymore because the produce is awful. Always brown. I bought a package of green peppers that we obviously a few days old. I had planned to use them that same day to make stuff green peppers. When I took them out, they were rotten on the bottom! If there is even a question of whether they are too old, get rid of them. Also, the deli counter doesn't care how many people are standing in line, they are more interested in taking care of the online orders. People waiting and waiting....Saw so many flies also by the deli counter made me not want to come back...Flies in March? You better get that under control. I guess I will be going out to Vince & Joes from now on....

Yelp
In the Detroit area, we are very fortunate. We have regular grocery stores, and then we have groceries like Nino Salvaggio. Nino's and its ilk have a leg up on your normal groceries because they are a carefully curated selection of products - beyond what your average store may carry. Odds are the staff have actually tasted the products themselves and purposefully selected that particular brand/blend/etc. You don't have to wonder if you're taking a chance trying something new - they've done their homework to ensure that you're going to be happy with what you have. I've been shopping and Nino's long before I lived in Michigan. Nino's strawberries were the centerpieces at my wedding - a nice appetizer for our guest before the dinner started. The high quality products and service at Nino's is why it stands out. I've gushed about their selection, but Nino's really stands out in two other areas: -Their produce is always the highest quality. Hands down. I have shopped at many places around the area, particularly for veggies. Nino's always last the longest once they've made it home and are always impressive in their size and taste. I buy a head of romaine lettuce once a week, without fail, for my guinea pigs. They always ALWAYS have the biggest heads with the best leaves. That's a case study I've been running for about two and a half years now. -Their name brand products, in particular, are phenomenal. I continue to be impressed every time I use something with their logo on it. From their jars of marinara to their pre-made meals. They're delicious! Go in on the weekend and sample some. A couple weekends ago they had lasagna to try and it tasted homemade. HOMEMADE! I was at a yelp event last night where we got to meet Chef Pete Loren out at the Hall Rd. location and it confirmed what I already knew about Nino's. Clearly, the staff are passionate about food and quality. He mentioned their website has information/recipes and he even does YouTube videos about cooking to better inform and provide for their shoppers. It is wonderful to see a store so committed to their craft. If you share their passion for food (I know I do!) I'd suggest making them your specialty grocery of choice. Nino's in Saint Clair Shores is a bit smaller/packed than it's Hall Rd. location, but I'm glad it's just down the road for me to visit. Thanks, Nino's! And consider those cooking classes, again!
