Nirvana Indian Cuisine

We had a wonderful dinner here. The food was delicious and came out quickly. What really made our night was our server, Shrewyn, he was super friendly, helpful, and made sure we had everything we needed. It’s rare to get service that good! We’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

Nirvana lives up to its name! We stopped by after a day at the Jazz Fest and were offered a special Jazz Fest menu, which we decided to try. We chose the Masala-crusted salmon appetizer, which was a generous portion for two people, and really delicious. The two entries we selected were the baby eggplants (baby bhenghan bartha); and the paneer Manchurian. Both were very good, but the paneer was one of the most delicious Indian dishes we’ve ever experienced. Both came with ample fragrant jasmine rice. We selected the garlic naan and the rice pudding for dessert. All were generous portions, especially given the price. The place is beautiful, the servers friendly, efficient, and deservedly proud of their restaurant and the food they are preparing. So glad we stumbled in!

After too long of a break, we went to Nirvana this week for the extended Magazine Street restaurant week and we already can’t wait to return! Sherwyn provided excellent service and made wonderful recommendations! We really enjoyed the variety platter special since you could try several items at once, which is always my hesitation—I want it all! These platters were huge and loaded and made for two meals! We left full, happy, comforted, and excited to the next days lunch (our leftovers)!

Made a trip to Magazine Street to try out luck at some Authentic Indian Food. No doubt that Nirvana Indian Cuisine was the spot as they have several orders being placed and picked up as we dined. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted by friendly staff members such as Mr. Sherwyn and an inviting atmosphere, adorned with artwork that offers some insight to the culture. The service at Nirvana Indian Cuisine was impeccable; Mr. Sherwyn was very attentive, knowledgeable of the menu, and offered perfect recommendations to satisfy our appetite. He ensured that our dining experience was seamless and checked on us with awesome service! My Curry and Naan was very tasty and flavorful. I will definitely be going back to try other tasty items on the menu. 🥰😍🫡 Awesome Customer Service is a Win every time for me!

Absolutely love eating here! My wife and I have come here several times. We usually get the same table and Sherwyn is our server. Impeccable service! The food is delicious and I would highly recommend. This visit was for dinner on my wife’s birthday. What a great birthday!

We went to Nirvana for mother's day lunch since my mom has recently been asking to try Indian food. Because I can't handle hot spicy, I was happy that they offered different spice levels and the "regular" was pretty mild. I would recommend the vegetable samosas. We enjoyed their biryani and chicken tikka masala as well. The service was excellent. We also really enjoyed the interior decor of the restaurant.

This is my first time trying Indian food, and surprisingly, the food is really good that I'll definitely come back one day. We ordered Biryani, Butter Chicken Curry, Alu Paratha, Garlic Naan, and Chai for 2 people, but couldn't finish it as the portion is really full. On top of the experience, we were well-served by Mr. Sherwyn. Highly recommend for those who want to try Indian food in New Orleans!

I came here tonight with my partner for my birthday. It was our first time at the restaurant and it was a wonderful experience! The restaurant has had beautiful decor and the service was excellent and speedy. We were on a small time crunch so that really helped out. Our server’s name was Sherwyn and he was super great and catered to all our needs. He also brought out a nice little desert when I mentioned it was my birthday. The food was an absolute 10/10, overall a great experience and I highly recommend.

We had a lovely experience at Nirvana, and our server Sherwyn made sure of it! We arrived at around 7 PM on a Tuesday and were one of only a few tables eating in, though we saw several to-go orders being picked up while there. The restaurant itself is very nicely kept, with more attention paid to the decor than many restaurants and comfortable chairs. We ordered the veggie kathi rolls (at Sherwyn's suggestion, and he steered us very right), parmesan bullet naan (another excellent suggestion) and one of the veggie trio entrees that included saag paneer, navratan korma and Bombay potatoes. Everything we had was delicious, with an especial shout-out to the kathi rolls. We're not from New Orleans, despite what my profile seems to say, but if we ever find ourselves in town again, I'd love to return!

Nirvana was such a spectacular delight! Everything from the beautiful ambience, the spectacular customer service-- our waiter, Sherwyn, was phenomenal-- and, most importantly, the food. Highest quality, unbelievably delicious, and given the prices, the large portions blew me out of the water. I have a new favorite spot in New Orleans!

I had my order delivered to me in a timely manner. The food was good but definitely not the best Indian food I've had. I ordered the veggie samosas. They were probably my favorite item. I also ordered buttered chicken, naan, and gulab jamun. All items were warm. The buttered chicken lacked seasoning. The gulab jamun is a must try dessert! It's difficult to describe but the sweet rose water syrup is a tantalizing treat.

The food was super good and the ambience was really calm allowing me to save her my food. The staff was also really nice.

The first thing you'll notice is the interiors, awesome setting. The deco really brings out the authenticity of the location. The food was superb and the service by our waiter, Sherwyn, was also excellent. 10/10

Delicious! Accommodating/friendly service from everyone. Our server, Sherwyn, took great care of us! I'm vegetarian, so this is one of my best options. Decor & colors are beautiful too. I think this art museum type lighting to highlight art on walls is cool and looks nice against dark blue. We ordered entree, lunch special, sauce plate, appetizer spread, naan, dessert and bill was only in 60s. Fair pricing. They didn't rush us and had good conversation even though it was closer to when they close between lunch and dinner.

Enjoyed a great dinner at Nirvana. We ordered the samosa chaat, paneer tikka masala, chicken biryani, and garlic naan. Everything was extremely flavorful and fresh, and the service was awesome. Our waiter Sherwyn suggested that we try the samosa chaat instead of regular samosas and it did not disappoint. Over all, fantastic food, great service - ask for Sherwyn he will take great care of you! Great quality for the price too!

It smells great as soon as you walk thru the door. Drinks were great and food delicious. Our waiter Bosco was so accommodating, and helpful. Definitely a must-do for vegetarians looking for a great meal.

Delicious food and warm, kind service. Lots of interesting Indian art if you dine inside and good music. My server, Sherwyn, has been amazing both times I've been and had great suggestions for vegetarian options.

Bosco was incredible. So attentive and helpful with the menu! Very quick service. Although we took a while to order, Bosco was very patient. The food here is always a treat. We had the flag of india dish and the chicken tiki masala along with the mixed bread basket. The spice level was perfect and they made sure we were okay throughout the meal. I personally loved the decor and the blurbs about the art throughout. Always a great experience. Will definitely be back to grub again.

They still advertise buffet but are no longer serving it. Told by staff they have no plans to reopen the buffet. My issue is the time and gas I wasted because they aren't accurate with their signage, and haven't updated their web presence to let any of their customers know they closed their buffet.

I placed a to-go order for lunch here and came at the allotted time they said it would be ready only to get there and the order wasn't even placed. They were kind to offer me a delicious cup of chai latte that was steaming hot and spicy. Unfortunately, my order still wasn't correct yet still tasty. The chicken tiki masala was good yet the flavor was not as rich and deep as I've had from other local Indian restaurants. The garlic naan was fresh and plentiful of garlic. The chicken khati was beautiful and delightful to my pallet. Honestly, not sure if I would come back for another lunch because although the food was good it wasn't terribly rememberable. Another local Indian restaurant made me wanting more and mostly sad that my meal was over. I didn't have the same wanting with food from Nirvana. The location and decor was gorgeous and colorful. Staff was kind and professional.

Fantastic service and top notch food. My wife and I have been there maybe 12 times in the past 3 years and it's always been an amazing experience. The place is beautiful as well. Get the Kama sutra cocktail. We had one during covid when there was an outdoor bar while walking around and we knew we had to come back for the food after. Two years later we still go whenever we've got a little cash to spend and wanna get out.

Consistently good food, well prepared, well seasoned. Menu options for all tastes and dietary restrictions. Friendly service. Team work atmosphere of service. Waters refilled often. Family style atmosphere.

Love the rich Indian decor, the food and customer service is pleasant... the menu has a wide selection. You can dine inside or outside of the restaurant, and take out is available too.!‍

We go in here a lot and have had nothing but good luck, waiter knows us and the food is always hot and incredible. Tonight was the worst ever! They were only offering a buffet supposedly for mothers Day. By the look of it, it looked good, but we were wrong. They had everything in huge pans not even heated. We took a little back to our table to try it, and it was horrible. Nothing was hot or even warm. It was room temperature and dry or soggy. We only ate a little before we decided that we were not going to pay $25 for cold, unedible food. We were told that because we had eaten some that we still had to pay but they would "give us a discount" so we were forced to pay for one and a drink even though we only took a few bites. I'm sorry, but to be told we had to pay because "we ate some" unacceptable. It almost makes me not want to go back.

I don't normally eat Indian food but this time it was my friends turn to pick a place. We went on. Friday night and we promptly seated. I started with the Mango Daiquiri, it had something in it that added a floral flavor, kind of different but really good. I was happy to see so many photos on the menu, it helped me choose the chicken curry which was absolutely delicious. I got to taste a little of what everyone else ordered and enjoyed their dishes too. Apologies that I can't tell you what they ordered though because I'm not familiar enough with Indian food. Friendly service, great cocktails, nice beer selection, delicious food. Give it a try!

It had been years since I had eaten at Nirvana. I won't make that mistake again. Everything @ our meal was perfection. First of all the restaurant is lovely. Colorful, casually elegant w/decent space between the tables. Sherwyn our waiter carefully answered our questions @ the menu and made great suggestions. The food was amazing. Seasoned to perfection w/generous amounts. All 5 of us enjoyed our dishes. We are heading back here soon

This place is so yummy! Definitely one of my top 3 Indian restaurants in La. The decor is so cute, Indian chic! Great vibes and located right on magazine street. Very nicely prepared and served! Even to go they gave us these cute gulab jaman containers! And it tasted great too! My favorite was the butter chicken most definitely! Didn't love the Ras Malai or the Paneer appetizer, but everything else was near perfection! Don't miss out! Definitely a great experience and great food! The staff was really cool too!

Our meal was delicious and our server Bosco was top notch. Our party of 4 had 3 different entrees (all very good), as well as garlic nan, and samosas. The restaurant was quiet enough so we could talk without having to raise our voices. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I highly recommend Nirvana.

Came to NOLA to visit a friend and we ate here for dinner. The service and food was amazing! Bosco was amicable and very helpful. I ordered butter chicken, veg. samosa, and garlic and cheese naan. It's the best indian cuisine I've had. The place was very clean and aesthetically pleasing. I definitely recommend this place! If I lived here, this would be the place I would order from every time.

Absolutely loved our meal! Was originally going to get butter chicken and chicken tikki Masala then our waiter, Sherwyn, who was so kind and informative, suggested we get the Korma with chicken and it was absolutely amazing!! I can't wait to go back and try more!

Amazing food! Great atmosphere and comfortable chairs. I felt like a queen. Our waiter Nik was great. Ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Biryani. It was great!!! Didn't have lunch buffet open because of COVID, probably. I'm sure that's amazing too, though.

We were welcomed by a server named Bosco, he was so excellent and friendly. Also, there are more servers that were kind too. The food was amazing and how it was designed the ambiance was like we were in a 5star place, super big paintings and kinda romantic with some ancient table, chairs, and sculptures. they were so beautiful !!

Love the ambiance and the service is good, but, unfortunately, the food is inconsistent and sometimes too sweet for my tastes. I really want to like this place, as we live close by and enjoy Indian food, but it often misses the mark.

The food was absolutely DELICIOUS. As soon as I walked in, I felt welcomed. The service was great, and they were very attentive. My server was Bosco and we was so sweet! Informative and answered all questions answered! The samosa and chicken tikki are a favorite. If you come here to eat, you won't be disappointed!

This was so good. My friend and I had the vegetarian appetizer plate, the Kashmiri Nan Mil, and I had chai. The chai was very excellent with cherries And fruit in a lovely yeast Naan. My friend had never had it and she loved it too. On the vegetarian appetizer plate they had vegetarian samosas, fried vegetables (similar to tempura veggies), and Rugba Pati, which is described as "Potato cakes topped with curried garbanzos, raita, and chutneys." This was all amazing and seasoned perfectly. Spicy, but not too spicy. It was an excellent meal and I shall return.

Big thank you to my friend Joe who introduced me to Vinny. Food is exceptional. Staff is very nice and accommodating to your tastes and spice level. Enjoyed the atmosphere. The flavors are so delicious. Enjoyed the frozen mango dessert. I'll definitely be back.

The food is delicious. They actually know how to make rice, a lot better than a lot of the other Indian restaurants in town. And the service is impeccable. Also they know how to make the food hot and spicy so if you like it hot just ask.

In my opinion, this is the best Indian restaurant! The staff is always nice and accommodating and the food never fails. In one bite you can taste all the flavors and they just work separately creating something amazing!! True authentic Indian food

Ordered the vegetarian curry . Picture didn't match what I got . Size of dish I got is less then half . Dish was tasty . But very small for 16.5$ vegetarian curry

My boyfriend and I went to eat here for the first time and the atmosphere was incredible. The chairs were beautiful and also the artwork on the walls were fascinating. Our service was very good, the waiter was really attentive and accommodating. And to top it off, the food was completely delicious and savory! I had the chicken curry medium spice along with the butter chicken. We really enjoyed every bite and will definitely make this our favorite Indian spot

Nirvana is my favorite Indian restaurant in the area. In particular they have the best chicken tikka masala. I've tried all the other places and they are either bland or watery. Nirvana has a great spice and heat level if you request it. The staff remembers me when I dine in and my order when I call in for take out. Sunday has a buffet for a great price! My only complaint is the price. An entree and bread will run $25. The trick is to ask for extra chicken and split it!

I just moved down to New Orleans last month and I had been looking for a place to get great indian food. I FOUND IT! This place has such a clean and friendly atmosphere. The food was delicious! I would definitely recommend! Our server was attentive, friendly, and gave great recommendations.

Not a great place to go for a date. We arrived about 7 pm and there were only two other tables occupied. The waiter showed up ever minute or so to see if we were ready to give our order. Another waiter also tried. They hounded us to the point of being passive-agressive. After we had been there on a date for a whole 20 minutes, we gave our order. For the entire (short) evening, it felt like the staff were trying to shovel us out like dumpster trash. They also came by a half-dozen or more times asking if they could take our plates before we were finished. The food was decent this time, if simplistic for a chicken curry. The last time i was there, i ordered a mild plate and it arrived burning spicy. I don't mind such errors because waiters, like everyone else, make mistakes. Still, with all that spice, I was hesitant to return. I did, however, because my lady friend wanted to go there. I'm open-minded guy. I didn't mind trying again. In summary, the owner of Nirvana needs to tell their staff to chill the f*c* out because customers go in there to spend money for a desirable service rendered, and have a pleasant dining experience on all accounts.

Nirvana is a great place to grab Indian food, with arguably some of the best naan in nola. The garlic naan actually has pieces of garlic and onion in it! The rest of their food comes in generous portions, so you'll absolutely leave full. Just walking into Nirvana, you know that their spice game is strong, and they have amazing chutney. The staff here is attentive and the food comes out incredibly fast every time. The interior decor is great and there are usually some TVs playing Indian cooking shows! If you cant find street parking, theres a small lot behind the restaurant that usually has 2-3 open spots, depending on what time you come.
