"For those craving Indian-inspired flavors, Nirvanaah serves a vast variety of desserts, including scoops, sundaes, cakes, shakes, and special concoctions. Though the shop’s offerings may all be vegetarian and egg-free, they’re still as rich, delectable, and flavorful as any desserts in the area. The shop sources its frozen treats from Kwality Ice Cream, a premier supplier of Indian desserts, with flavors that range from fruity to nutty. Visitors rave about the unique flavors they may not be able to find elsewhere — ice cream infused with fruits like fresh chickoo or sitaphal, as well as more traditional Indian sweets like the summertime drink, falooda, and mixed nut ice cream, rajbhog." - Cathy Park

Visited Nirvanaag Ice Cream over the weekend, and it wasn't crowded, which was nice. The atmosphere was pleasant, and they offer a wide variety of unique flavors, which is great for those looking to try something different. I decided to go for the Gulab Jamun ice cream, but it was just average—not as impressive as I was hoping for. The shop itself has a clean and welcoming vibe. If you're in the area and looking to try some fusion flavors, it might be worth a stop, though I’d probably explore other options next time. Overall, it’s a decent spot, but I wasn’t blown away by the taste.

Google
They had a wide selection of ice cream @ $4 a scoop. Pretty pricey. Also the ice cream is served slightly melted. Idk what's going on.but they must have their freezers down. The flavor was very buttery heavy cream. I would not come here again. Maybe meant for Indian people idk. 🤔

Google
This is a great place to get Indian flavors ice-cream, shakes, cakes & falooda drinks. They have more than 10 flavors of ice cream available. During our visit only take out were allowed & no tasting. The price is affordable & good service.

Google
I went here with the understanding that all ice creams are vegetarian and without eggs but was rudely shocked to find out that the rum raisin flavor had rum in it. Initially I didn’t pay notice to it but when I asked them. After taking some spoons then she said this has alcohol in it!! I’m a pure vegetarian and don’t take any alcohol. This has spoilt my religious practices and given me mental grief. How can they have alcohol in vegetarian ice cream. This is sacrilege. Very bad customer experience.

Ideally, I'd give this place 3.5/5 stars. Nirvanaah in Sunnyvale serves up a wide variety of Indian-inspired ice cream flavors, perfect for those seeking an adventurous taste bud experience. Located conveniently in a strip mall with ample parking, it might be a good spot to grab a scoop, but be prepared for a slightly tired ambiance. The interior is definitely in need of an upgrade. The worn-out seats and overall rundown feel took away from the experience a bit. There is also not a lot of indoor or outdoor seating, so keep that in mind. The saving grace was the incredibly friendly staff. They were super patient with my friends who weren't familiar with Indian flavors, allowing them to try a multitude of options before making their decisions. Nirvanaah boasts a unique selection of flavors, including meetha pan (a post-wedding breath freshener in Indian weddings), chickoo (a tropical fruit), and gajar halwa (a carrot-based dessert). You can choose between one, two, or three scoops, allowing you to create your own flavor combinations. The verdict on the flavors themself is a mixed bag. Some, like meetha pan, guava, and Alfonso mango, were bold and packed a punch. However, others like chickoo and sweet apple were a bit muted and didn't quite deliver on their promise. The butterscotch was particularly disappointing, with an off-putting texture. They also offer falooda, a playful mix of milkshake, bubble tea, and sundae elements. While it might be worth a try for the novelty factor, it ultimately comes down to personal preference. Overall, Nirvanaah is a decent option for those seeking unique Indian ice cream flavors. The friendly staff and the sheer variety of options deserve a nod, but the rundown interior and uneven flavor execution hold it back from being truly impressive.

Google
A small Indian ice cream shop. We got the cardamom ice cream flavor, $5.25 for one small scoop. Taste was good, but overpriced for that small serving of mediocre ice cream. They don’t offer free samples and it was hard to know which flavors we would like given all these unusual flavors, many of which we haven’t heard of (if you are not from India). Service was not that friendly. The shop smelled like cheap detergent as soon as you walked in. Not recommending it unless you are looking for exotic ice cream flavors.

Google
Nirvanaah! Indian Ice Cream and Ice Cream Cake store on El Camino Real close to India Cash and Carry. Popular Indian flavor of Ice Creams, milk shakes, Ice Cream Cakes and more. Scoops and made to order. Popular among locals and tourists to the area. Descent pricing. Polite and friendly staff. Easy access from most parts of Bay area.

Google
Your friendly neighborhood ice cream shop. There's a couple unique Indian sweets flavours which tasted pretty good. Otherwise, they serve good and inexpensive ice cream!

Divya K.

Yelp
I am a hugee fan of this ice cream place. My favorite flavors are Meetha pan, butterscotch and falooda kulfi. They have a variety of flavors like gulab jamun, gajar halwa, sitaphal, Rajbhog, etc. The kesar pista and malai kulfi are good too! There are non Indian flavors too like Belgian biscuit, Ferrero rocher. They let you taste a sample of the flavor before ordering.

Cindy L.

Yelp
Falooda Kulfi 2 pink, weird taste Thandai 2 white, don't like the spiced aftertaste Mango Pomagranate 3 orange, subtle mango, can't taste pom much Fresh Guava 3 white, creamy, subtle guava

T S.

Yelp
Used to come here just for Falooda drink with kulfi substitute (paying the difference) as rest of their ice cream is meh. Since the new moustached guy has taken over, he has made a point to ban substitution even if you're willing to pay the difference. Other employers accommodate unless this guy is around. Going to give Egglicous a try as there's no point giving money to a business that doesn't care for long term customers because of whim of one person. Edit: Another bad experience. The staff doesn't care about customers any more. Order was made incorrectly but the server claimed it's done right. Can't wait for something new!

Yelp
Nirvanaah is conveniently located next to Cash & Carry (an Indian grocery store), so it's a great option for anyone after their shopping trip. I've tried their Ferrero Rocher, Falooda, and Rose flavors, and they were not extraordinary. For the ice cream flavors itself, I'd probably give them a 3.5/5 - they have a wide variety but their flavors are not extremely special. The service is okay, nothing outstanding but nothing abysmal either. Personally, I'm not a fan of their interior, but you're there for ice cream so it doesn't matter too much.

Jac B.

Yelp
Nice variety of flavors, pleasant enough to sit inside and eat. Friendly server. Parking can sometimes be scarce in that strip mall, but hasn't been too bad

Yelp
I went in today on a tuesday ~7:45pm (4/9/24) and it wasn't busy so found that a plus because when I pass by it sometimes i'd always see a crowd of people outside the place. Cute and homey ambiance with colorful walls. Upon entering i was greeted with two people (a man and a women) who seemed very nice and patient waiting for me to take my order since i was looking at the selection and on their yelp. I eventually asked about one of the flavors to which the man asked if I'd like a sample and i got to try some flavors i was interested in. There was so much to choose from and some that i've never heard of (wanted to do more research on them and maybe come back another time) but i ended up choosing the alphonso mango as I LOVE alfonso mango for their sweet and creamy (In my experience never sour) flavor, and the falooda kulfi (bc it was one of the highlighted flavors in the reviews alongside guava (but they didnt have it so i chose mango) for a double scoop. The Alphonso mango was perfect, it was not tart at all, they also did not skimp on the mango so it wasn't just a hint of mango and mainly milk, it was wasn't too mango-ey too, it was just creamy and good. Definitely recommend for Mango lovers :) The falooda was a different experience for me as ive never had actual falooda before and didn't do much research except it was a good falooda flavor from reviews. I tasted a mix of spices (maybe saffron, but not too strong- more subtle, some bits of a type of nut that was also mixed (texture)) and definitely a lingering hint of rose, which i ended up finding out that falooda does sometimes have rose syrup). It was definitely a treat, not up my alley but I'm glad to experience how it tastes in essence and it's probably more acquired since they have so many flavors reminiscent of desserts such as gulab jamun (which i love) so i'm excited to try more of their flavors in the near future. The double scoop was 8.99 but I believe the lady told me cash was 50 cent discount) but i didnt realize until after she gave me a 1.01 back (I didnt pay attention so it could be the tax or she may have forgotten and i was enamored by my two scoops of ice cream lol)

Eva L.

Yelp
A good variety of exotic ice cream flavors from guava to sitapahl. They even have Indian dessert flavored ice cream like gulab jamun. I always get the sitapahl which is in the same family as cherimoya. It's like having an ice cream flavored with apple but without the tartiness. Mildly sweet. The guava flavor has full guava flavor including the gritty texture. It's distinctly unapologetically guava which I appreciate. You can taste the guava right away. The mango pomegranate ice cream tasted more mango than pomegranate. This has a smoother texture just like mango and pomegranate. I noticed that the texture of some of the ice cream flavor is not very smooth but I think because it's consistent to the actual food it's modeled after. It's on a pricier side but they have unique flavors with taste true to each type it represents.

Shivangi K.

Yelp
Good ice cream, poor customer service. My family visited this shop when it first opened up and I remember loving my visit because of the unique Indian flavors. It's been a few years since and I wanted to revisit a childhood favorite only to be disappointed. First, we could not sample any of the flavors? For a shop with unique flavors such as meetha paan, thandai, kesar pista, or sitaphal -- how do I know what to expect?Second, the serving size for a small is REALLY small and given in a small plastic cup. Lastly, there was maybe 2-3 customers at night and yet we felt rushed. Wasn't the most welcoming environment. The ice cream was good, but in my opinion not worth it. It's not really a spot to hangout with friends, moreso grab&go.

Papa M.

Yelp
It is a nice ice cream shop owner by Desi for locals. The ambiance is okay there...

Sandeep R.

Yelp
Personal recommendations include the Shaahi Falooda and Kulfi Falooda, both of which are large enough to be shared by 2 people. They also have a huge selection of ice-cream flavors including Butterscotch amongst others. As a call-out, they don't offer any seating for large and small groups and this is more of a order-and-pickup place. They also prefer cash payments for when the total charges are lower than 10$.

Anagha J.

Yelp
Great place to get ice cream with Indian flavors or falooda type drinks. What we tried : 1. Badshahi falooda drink 10/10 It has rose syrup in the bottom with chia seeds and falooda sevaiya, topped with rose flavored ice cream milk shake and a scoop of cardamom-pistachio ice cream. This tasted close to falooda in India. 2. Tender coconut- scoop 3/10 The coconut pieces were sparse and the ice cream otherwise tasted like plain vanilla ice cream with no flavor.

Kaitlin M.

Yelp
After a day hiking in the sun, what's better than ice cream to reward yourself for calories burned. I had the rose petal ice cream and it was delicious. I love that they make all of their flavors- there is an obvious difference between homemade and factory made ice cream. The ice cream wasn't too sweet like a lot of rose I've creams are. It had rose petals in the ice cream as well which I liked a lot. The parking lot is a little challenging. There is a very busy grocery store in the same lot. I thought I was lucky to get a spot up front but it turns out that it's hard to get out of the front spots from the traffic leaving the parking lot. The customer service was good. There wasn't really anywhere to sit so we took ours to go.

Harmanjeet K.

Yelp
This is a great spot for Indian ice creams and the rajbhog flavor is my absolute favorite! They don't allow tasting and that's understandable. I asked for three scoops- alphonso mango, rajbhog and another one but they were layered on top of each other and that was a bummer. The royal falooda drink they said could be made from any 1 of the 2 select ice cream flavors only and that was a bit odd but the flavors were there. The rose syrup came through the drink and was tasty. The ladies at the counter did their best for a que of ice cream craving customers. They have a masked entry sign on the door but there were a few people inside without their masks on. It was a good first visit and I'll be back for more flavors!

Diana D.

Yelp
I've tried Falooda from here a couple of times. They have it as a drink/milkshake and as an ice-cream or kulfi version. Both are equally good, although I personally prefer the milkshake version. It's very creamy and has lots of nuts, exactly how it's supposed to be. They also have other Indian-flavored ice-creams. Service was fast as well.

Kaius V.

Yelp
This review is based on my first time going here a few weeks back. This place is open later than other dessert establishments in the area, so you can expect a long line even in a weekday evening. Be careful pulling in by the opening closest to the spot. It can get tight but there is plenty of parking. When I went, there were no chairs, so I got the vibe that after you get your ice cream, you just get out. There were various people just eating outside, sitting/standing by the curb. I love guava, so when I saw they had that flavor, I ordered it. It was more of a creamy/milky guava ice cream rather than a water based ice cream. It smelled good but the creaminess overpowered thr guava flavor in taste for me. They do charge a fee if you use credit card (I forgot if there is always a charge or only under a certain threshold). Due to the rush and my lack of paying attention, I didnt get to inquire exactly which 'custom item' was the extra fee and what the other charge was .. maybe for a cone-- I looked back at my receipt later on and felt that with what my total came out to be, I am not sure if it was worth it. But it is officially summer and Im sure I will be wanting ice cream again, so I will definitely return to see if I feel the same way.

Ilse P.

Yelp
Ice cream was fantastic and prices were great. The furniture is a little run down but I was there for ice cream, not furniture. They could add more sitting and maybe tables. They have different none-traditional flavors that I would love to go back and try.

Chaats C.

Yelp
Bery nice falooda khulfi and tutti fruity Always fresh and tasty Will definitely visit again

Iram A.

Yelp
Really small scoop for the price. We ordered one scoop of Rocher and a 500 ml Togo box in Tuti Fruti. The ice cream tastes really good though .

Ziad A.

Yelp
Really good falooda and also many different ice cream flavors. The prices are very reasonable! The stores condition can be a better but there is no dine in option. Service was good, there was only one person working so I would recommend that there should be 2 or 3 folks I guess.

Sankit G.

Yelp
I really like this place for their Indian ice cream flavors like Rajbhog, chickoo, kesar pista, thandai, Falooda, etc. I have tried their chickoo, guava, lichee, Halwasan and they are just great. I feel if you are looking for your best worth for money you should order a shake! The scoops are $5 by themselves and the shake of your own choice is $6 and when you see them making the shakes you see at least 3 scoops going in the shake with little milk. Recommended Flavors- Chickoo, Alphonso Mango, Guava, Rajbhog

G P.

Yelp
Ice creams are good but customer service is dismal. Girl at the counter was not helpful at all to a first time customer. Wanted to like this place but will not be coming back. They charge an extra 0.50 for using using credit card less than $10

Corby O.

Yelp
I was hankering for some ice cream while in the area this weekend and Nirvanaah came up nearby in my app so I decided to drop in and give it a try. The staff weren't very friendly, no real explanation, they didn't even get up out of their chairs until I ordered. They sat there looking at me until I told them what I wanted. I went for their banana split and tried it with the black currant, raspberry and mango pomegranate ice cream. The actual ice cream was delicious and with unique flavors like black currant I'm a fan. I really enjoyed that I just wish the staff was a little friendlier instead of barely making eye contact and asking quick curt questions while building my dessert for me. I'd recommend stopping in to try it, it is delicious just don't expect warm, friendly customer service.

Melvin P.

Yelp
Butterscotch and guava ice cream are something to die for! They don't let you try samples but that is something I have seen in many ice cream shops after COVID Ambience is meh therefore I pick up few pints.

Uday M.

Yelp
Good selection of traditional and Indian flavors. They don't allow samples, which is strange because apparently they used to pre-COVID, but also don't require masks. The prices are standard for an ice cream place, and the flavors we tried were good.

Julia J.

Yelp
This place is cool for Indian style ice cream. We really enjoy trying new flavors. The staff is hit or miss as far as being personable but I agree with another poster as far as them not really seeming to enjoy their job. Its usually pretty crowded and understaffed and no real ventilation up in there other than a huge standing fan in the front of the store. Id probably not like working there either - especially with a lot of the rude customers we've witnessed. No respect for the people behind the counter; super demanding and complicated. The last time we went in this lady wouldnt stop staring at us and was secretly trying to take a picture of us while in line - because we're white? I asked her what her problem was and she pretended not to understand but her friends were mortified by her behavior. That particular day the guy behind the counter was so gracious and sweet. I would definitely come back here over and over; the ice cream is just so delicious and unique to the common ice cream places I grew up with here in the US.

Piyush G.

Yelp
Took out pista kulfi, it was amazing. Would love to try other flavors as well. The taste is very similar to mumbai style disc kulfi.

Neelu Y.

Yelp
My friend brought me here to try their Badshahi Falooda and I'm so glad she did! It was so delicious and creamy. It reminded me of Iranian Faloodeh, except sweeter and more like a milkshake. I definitely recommend trying it! Unlike some of the other reviews, I don't have any complaints about the service. The woman working didn't say or act rude while I was there. While she wasn't necessarily friendly, she wasn't unfriendly either.

Sudha T.

Yelp
We wanted to have indian ice cream flavor from here with the assumption that it will be fresh than what is sold in the indian grocery stores.. We tried 2 types of Kulfi's and icecream flavors . We couldn't even finish 1/4 of our purchase . It wasn't fresh and flavorful , we have to throw it away . We have been here few years back but the quality wasn't this bad .

Allister D.

Yelp
I wanted to take my wife here for her first Indian flavored ice cream but our experience did not go as planned. First off, what happened? It's been a long time since I've been back but coming here now, is slightly depressing. No music, no chairs, the ice cream section is foggy; I can't even see, no customers, nothing. My wife was really excited to try out the many unique Indian flavors but we were denied from sampling. How could a new customer with no knowledge of Indian ice cream even try a taste?? It's her first time and the lady told us they don't give samples. This is not good for business. A new person that wants to try a flavor should be able to sample just like at any other ice cream spot. Are they trying to save money here by not giving samples?? I mean, I even saw a cup stating, "Clean Spoons"... can't they just scoop a tiny bit for samples?? We didn't even purchase anything due to the fact that we couldn't taste anything so how would we know?? Also, there were no signs saying, there were no samples. The lady didn't even give an explanation as to why we couldn't try anything. The last time I came here, they gave out samples to everyone which was a great experience. What a turn off!! Never coming back again. How dumb, they just lost Two customers and business on top of that. Pathetic.

Manu Sreedharan T.

Yelp
They dont taste like actual falooda. The drink was frothy instead of being creamy. They dont let you taste the ice cream. On price side they aren't expensive .

Rohan B.

Yelp
We tried the pineapple and it was okay. Note: They don't do tasting anymore - so you got to pick kinda blind.

Marco V.

Yelp
Amazing and many flavors to choose from. Staff is super friendly and fast to hand you the ice cream on these hot days

Sai G.

Yelp
I tried the figs&walnut, guava flavors with a waffle cone. Ah man, the taste you feel bring back the flavors of the fruit I tried before. Will try the other flavors with a mix of everything, it'll be fun. My friends tried falooda, the taste was ok but not upto the mark.

Divya K.

Yelp
Really not the cutest ice cream parlor to hang out at. but great for unique ice cream flavors. Service is poor and indoor dining is closed. Workers look like they hate working there and I wish they wore longer gloves when they dig into the ice cream for scooping. Ice cream is slightly overpriced but they have unique flavors that I love. Try to stick to trying new things here, they don't do the best with American classics.

Sweta K.

Yelp
Best Paan and kesar pista ice cream in Bay Area!! Cute shop with very cozy ambiance. The owners are really great and sweet. Falooda is a must try!

Prachi J.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite ice cream shops when I'm craving Indian flavors that you can't really find in the US (e.g. sitaphal or chickoo). Before Covid, they used to have inside seating (ice cream parlor style, with barstools), but now you have to eat your sweet treat outside. The only downside is that this location is in a strip mall, so there's no good place to really sit and enjoy the ice cream.

Rich H.

Yelp
After great lunch at Anjappar Chetinnad, my coworker & buddy had some Indian ice cream (my first time) at Nirvannaah. I tried the manjo ice cream and it was the perfect complement to our lunch. After one try, I am a fan. I'm totally looking forward to trying their coffee ice cream next!

Amit S.

Yelp
While I am not a huge fan of ice-cream, I do like visiting this place occasionally with friends. Especially with friends visiting from out of town, since the place has a desi ice cream parlor vibe, and some desi flavors too. Pros: Open later than most other ice-cream stores. Friendly staff. A good variety of flavors. Good overall vibe, especially at night (I like to go with friends, get the items, and head out to the parking lot, which is quite empty by then). Cons: The actual taste of the ice cream was quite average in my opinion. But given the price point and the popularity, I won't hammer too much on this. Also, they have a minimum purchase requirement for credit card usage, and sometimes can be very anal about it. This is not dispositive, but can be inconvenient at times.

Adwait A.

Yelp
Loved their mango litchi icecream cake. I do wish they added some cake layer to it as well.

Sadhna S.

Yelp
It was my first visit but I was unfortunately very disappointed . I ordered the kulfi falooda which is icecream at the bottom with kulfi and faluda on top for $6.99. The kulfi and falooda were ok but the mango ice cream was aweful with ice crystals in it. Come on! If you're charging the big bucks please up your game. Wish I had gone to cold stone instead. Will not return

Sarika S.

Yelp
My trip to Nirvanaah left me wanting more. While shopping on a warm day, we decided to stop by for an afternoon treat for my young niece. As we were walking in, first thing we noticed was that the welcome mat is breaking- total hazard! As we are looking around, the lady tells us register is broken and cash only. Dude, I don't want to touch cash and share germs- I'm convinced it's because they have to pay to use CCs. Anyhow, there are signs for no samples, but I don't want to pay $4.50 for a small scoop of ice cream and have a 2 YO not eat it. I mentioned I understood no samples, but I will take kid outside to make sure she likes it. She responds, other customers will see, which customers?! Legit no one was around for miles. Got a scoop of strawberry for the kid and a some malai ice cream (which was decent). Strawberry ice cream didn't taste fresh- as I am sure it was old.

Ankur V.

Yelp
Love their malai kulfi. I usually just get this ... no frills along with it; just the kulfi. Reminds me of my days in Mumbai eating kulfi from the Kulfi Center. Highly recommend this place.

J N.

Yelp
Nirvanaah is a local gem. I'm making my long overdue review of this ice cream joint. The mango ice cream and drinks are PHENOMENAL. Pro Tip: Remember to bring cash since they are cash only otherwise they will charge you 15% fee

Jennifer H.

Yelp
A great place to try out unique ice cream flavors! Quick note - the venue blasts rather loud music, so if you're sensitive to noise you might want to consider taking your dessert to go! Some Flavors: Cardamom Kulfi - Light and delicious! My favorite of all the ones I tried Thandai - Creamy with a subtle minty taste. Saffron & Pistachio - Tiny bits of saffron mixed in; however the saffron flavor is very faint and not as strong as that of Saffron & Rose in LA. It's still good, but Saffron & Rose takes the cake here. Guava - strong but too floral-y for my taste Prices: 1 scoop - $2.99 2 scoops - $5.49 3 scoops - $6.49 Sugar free scoop - $3.79 (s) or $5.99 (m) Special flavor scoop $3.79 Quart $12.50 Pint $6.79 500m $7.50 Overall, I recommend stopping by at least once to experience the neat flavors available!

Raven V.

Yelp
The flavors and texture of the ice cream here are fantastic. The Raspberry is the best raspberry ice cream I've ever had, it's creamy vanilla with intense swirls of raspberry. Also had tender coconut and mango kulfi, both seriously delicious. The store isn't fancy or anything and I thought the service was fine.

Martin P.

Yelp
The falooda kulfi here was a total rip-off. For 6.99, it was mostly sweetened milk with syrup, one really tiny piece of kulfi and another really tiny piece of strawberry ice cream, camouflaged by layers of cheap vermicelli. Get the ice cream scoops here instead.

Jamie G.

Yelp
Random find on a whim, my little Mexican family and my white a** stopped in to this cute little ice cream shop with a line out the door. We were encouraged by the smiling faces and happy children excitedly waiting with as much patience as they could muster. We had to Google a few flavors and one kind person did their best to explain pan to us (trying to wrap our mind around its not bread). But aside from all that the ice cream was delicious, creamy, vegetarian. The shop was clean was clean, service efficient and friendly, and prices reasonable for appreciated serving size. The fruit flavors we had were all delicious (Peach, lychee and chickoo). Pan is something else entirely but we did like it!

Feroz M.

Yelp
We went to have ice cream at this place tonight and there were 2 Indian ladies at the counter. They had no courtesy, no greetings and when we got the order, my wife started eating the ice cream and one of those ladies rudely said don't eat here and turned a hand written sign towards us which was originally facing towards the cashier. My wife was super polite and said sorry tough it wasn't her mistake and walked out. I had to wait for my order and there were others ordering so didn't want to create a scene. I requested them to post the sign property. We are responsible citizens and respect all the measures businesses are taking for coivd. But can't these people learn some manners and treat the customers with some basic respect. Worst customer experience; will never go here and don't recommend anyone else also to go there.
