The 29 Essential Restaurants in Kingston, Jamaica

"Indian and pan-Asian cooking are the focus of this elegant Kingston refuge. The team in the kitchen, which hails from Mumbai, prepares a varied lineup of traditional Indian curries and juicy tandoor specialties, each artfully presented. The restaurant is one of a trio of venues run by restaurateur Jaya Chatani (along with Masala Wok and Nirvana Global), who is deftly helping to diversify the island’s culinary scene." - Leisha Wong

Was excellent. Howie was our first contact, then Kelly came after. Both servers were polite, attentive, and jovial. It made the night calm and pleasant. We had real good Indian food, and chatted and laughed among ourselves. The owner was also really accommodating to us at the end when we had to split the bill, and we were there until after closing and wasn't rushed. We took lots of pics for the 16th Bday dinner and they were so beautiful in the ambiance and decor. It was a great atmosphere and experience for a birthday celebration.

Food was delicious and amazing literal mouthgasm 😋. The place is nice and sophisticated but u can dress down into a sneaker and jeans if you like. The chairs are comfy and seating arrangements are family friendly. The place was not packed even though it was a Friday night which surprised me as to why the waiter took so long to come to use after hanging out menu. The bathroom is clean and private. There is an outside lounge area for smokers or hookah vibes. But again the food and music was 100000/10. Call or whatsapp for reservation first bcz the place is not big so seating can be limited on crowded days like holidays or random celebrations. This is an Indian and Chinese kinda restaurant so expect that kinda flavor and food options. The place is aesthetic and lighting is great. There is a bar u can go to hv a drink or girls night with frens or date night.

This is the most delicious Indian meal I have ever eaten. I can still eat Indian food without going to India. Combined with the mixed flavor of Jamaican Indian food, I really like it very much. The environment is very good, the atmosphere is good, the location is also very good, and the service is very good. I will give the food full marks!

I had the pleasure of visiting this Indian restaurant to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had an amazing time, particularly because the ambiance was very welcoming and unique. The staff were friendly and courteous, and the limited number of patrons at the time added to the privacy of our visit. The food was exceptionally well done. My personal favorite was the butter chicken. We also enjoyed the Malabar snapper, mutton Rogan Josh (prepared Indian style), and chicken Tikka masala, all served with fragrant white rice . The chicken Tikka masala, in particular, was also very delightful. The most unbelievable taste sensation came from the combination of our extra orders blended with the main dishes. Specifically, the cheesy garlic naan bread mixed with the butter chicken (or any of the other meats we had) was divine! This alone is enough to ensure my return! The taste was absolutely out of this world good! We also enjoyed roti and fresh juices, which were both amazing. The overall experience was just really good. The restaurant offers ample parking, and the entire space can comfortably accommodate up to 30 people, possibly even more. My only real disappointment is that the rice was not very warm when it was served. Other than that. This place is a must-visit—you won't regret it!

Terrible service from start to end. Upon arrival we weren't greeted at all. There was a lady on the phone who didn't even hold up her head to acknowledge us. We seated ourself and also had to take the menu ourselves. It took approximately 5 minutes after sitting for a guy to come to the table. No greeting at all. He proceeded to ask what we wanted, I gave him my choice of appetizer just for him to blurt out "nuh orda that, it nuh taste good ". While I appreciated his feedback, the way it was brought across it was terrible. The entire time we were there , staff walked by on their phone. Not stopping to check in how was the meal. My partner main course was served atleast 10 minutes before mine came , we weren't informed that there would be a delay. It was just terrible overall all. The food itself was good. I personally will never return.

Date of visit: 13/12/2025 I had a very disappointing experience at Bombay Darbar by Nirvana, and unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype at all. Upon arrival, there was no host present to seat us. We stood waiting with no acknowledgment, which already set a poor tone. When a waiter finally approached our table, he did not introduce himself, simply placed the menu down and walked away without saying a word. There was no water on the table, and no one checked back to see if we needed anything. I ordered the butter chicken, and to my shock, there was a hair in my food. I immediately informed the staff. The waiter took the plate away and later returned with a replacement plate — without a single apology. No explanation, no acknowledgment of the issue, and no attempt to make the situation right. This lack of accountability and basic courtesy was unacceptable. Overall, the service was terrible, unprofessional, and careless. From the absence of a host, to inattentive service, to poor handling of a serious food hygiene issue, the experience was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. In my opinion, it’s all hype and nothing more. There are far better places that value customer service, cleanliness, and respect for their guests.

I recently visited Bombay Darbar in Jamaica and tried their buffet. Unfortunately, I found the food didn’t quite meet my expectations. The aloo matar lacked flavor, and the malai broccoli seemed overcooked. It’s possible the dishes were adapted to local tastes, but it didn’t quite feel like authentic Indian cuisine. Hopefully, they can refine the flavors for a more genuine experience.
