Nisanyan Hotel | Best places to stay on the Turquoise Coast

"A unique and cultured hotel, with a wide range of rooms in different settings and styles, set on a hillside above one of Turkey’s most unspoilt country towns. The heart of the hotel, with its lovely dining terrace overlooking the handsome 19th-century mansions of Sirince, is the 5-room inn while there are 7 country-style cottages scattered across the adjacent garden grounds. A memorably characterful place, run by charming staff, in delightful surroundings in the hills above Ephesus. " - Jeremy Seal

Stop! Look no further. Book it now. Add at least one more day than you think you want. We had a magical 4 night stay in the Teracil (terrace) cottage. The breakfasts are spectacular including donuts delivered piping hot and ready for honey or a mixture of tahini and grape molasses that we learned about in Cappadocia. The morning we left I counted 20 separate items for breakfast!! Dinners added up but were also delicious. The last night we did a cooking class with two others, essentially making our own dinner. Fun.||In addition to the fabulous style, the cottage was homey and comfortable. We loved the views (everywhere) but were especially transported by the sounds from the surrounding hills: cowbells around 6 pm, donkeys braying (morning and evening), roosters (without clocks) and these sounds of life so different from our urban American lives really transported us (the barking dogs were more familiar and less appealing). ||Every staff member was warm and kind. We were especially lucky to stay when Mujde was on site—the charismatic and welcoming owner. ||In sum, expensive yes, and 1000% worth it.

If you're ever in Izmir, do consider booking this hotel. It was magical! The room was so cozy, service was excellent and the hotel food is better than other restaurants in the area. Breakfast was excellent, dinner was even more amazing! This is not an accessible hotel and it requires a bit of slope walking, so please consider that.

What a wonderful place! Calm, quiet setting. Beautiful accommodations set in idyllic surroundings. There was an honest and heartfelt interest in our well-being with staff who served with genuine delight and care. The welcome we received went beyond our expectations. Great value for the experience - priceless! The meals prepared by Ferda, the head chef, were exceptional. The restaurant is topnotch. Boriş, Ahmed were helpful and engaging. From the moment we arrived to our exit, it was evident that our comfort was of the utmost importance. Thank you for a great stay. 🙏 ❤️👍 ❤️ 🙏

Our cottages were quaint, lovely, and comfortable, with an old-world feel to them. The food from the restaurant was some of the best we had during our entire trip to Turkey. The chocolate souffle was the best I've ever had in my life. The view over the valley was amazing. We ventured down the hill into the nearby town for an enjoyable outing. The hotel staff were extremely accommodating. One of our party members fell ill and they delivered his dinner meal directly to our cottage in a woven basket. When it was time to checkout, a staff member arrived earlier than usual to help us with our bags, and the restaurant provided us with packed breakfasts to go. The only issue I can mention is that between the hilly terrain, the cobblestone walkways, and the stairs throughout the facility, the hotel and its grounds were unfortunately not very handicap friendly.

What an experience! We spent 2 nights here. Our van couldn't access the hill climb and the hotel provided pickup trucks to haul us and our luggage. The rooms were cabins, renovated. Rustic with a nice path walk to the restaurant and reception. We loved it!! Quiet, dark, and while it felt like we were camping, it was a very pleasing experience overall. We also took a cooking class. Breakfast was terrific. Would have spent a month here if possible!!

In an increasingly homogenised world where hotels all seem to be ‘cookie cutter’ standardised, the Nisanyan stands out - the sort of place you always hope to find but rarely do. Perched on the edge of the bowl of hills surrounding Sirince with sweeping views across the valley, only the jingle of goat bells or the bray of a donkey seems to break the silence. Don’t expect ordinary hotel rooms - the accommodation is spread over the hillside amongst the trees and includes cottage rooms and stone houses as well as the timber panelled rooms in the main building. All well equipped with plenty of hot water, showers, wi-fi and furnished in traditional historical style. We slept very well every night. But it’s the food and the service that really sets the Nisanyan apart. Nur and all the team made us feel we had found ourselves in the middle of a large family - and we had become part of it. Arranging taxis, help with transport, chats about Turkey, cooking lesson ( 👍 Melissa) - everything was handled with no fuss, properly. And the food - all cooked from fresh produce ( much from their own plants and vegetables ) - really superlative, conjured up by the superb kitchen staff, imaginatively delicious. What a great place !

I’m not the type to leave reviews, but I felt compelled to after our unforgettable stay at Nişanyan Hotel.||My husband and I spent three weeks traveling through Turkey and Greece, staying in many luxury hotels along the way. Yet the most memorable and meaningful part of our trip was the two nights we spent here. Nişanyan Hotel isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a truly one-of-a-kind, magical experience.||When we first drove up through the charming town of Şirince and climbed the winding hill, we half-joked to ourselves, “Where on earth are we going?” But the moment we arrived at the top, it was as if we’d discovered a hidden village. Walking toward the main building felt like stepping straight into The Secret Garden. Every corner tells a story — full of history, nature, and beauty — yet everything is tastefully decorated and wonderfully cozy.||From the very beginning, the staff made us feel at home. We were greeted with big smiles by Ibo, who offered us a refreshing local juice, and then welcomed by Nur, the manager, whose warmth set the tone for our stay. To our delight, we were upgraded to The Mansion 1 — the honeymoon suite — and offered a glass of local wine on the balcony overlooking the valley. Their hospitality immediately melted away the stress of our day.||The room itself left us speechless: perched high above Şirince with sweeping views of the valley, a romantic glass-walled bathtub, and a candlelit atmosphere that felt straight out of Bridgerton. It was intimate, regal, and magical.||The food was another highlight. Breakfast in the garden was a feast of fresh, organic ingredients, lovingly prepared right beside the dining area. One morning I asked if they had sucuk (Turkish spicy sausage), and even though it wasn’t on the menu, they went out of their way to buy some just for us. That kind of personal touch is rare, and it made us feel incredibly special.||Dinner was equally unforgettable. The garden transforms into a romantic setting with incredible food and impeccable service. Our server, Tavit, was charming, spoke perfect English, and quickly felt like a friend. Later, we discovered he was the owner’s son — which explained the warm, family-like atmosphere that radiates throughout the hotel.||Exploring the grounds was a joy in itself. The property feels like a small village, with unique rooms scattered among gardens, a peaceful pool that felt more like a friend’s gathering than a hotel amenity, and secret paths (marked by red arrows) leading down to Şirince.||On our last morning, we needed an early ride to the airport. Müjde Tönbekici, one of the co-owners, personally helped arrange our taxi and welcomed us like family. Meeting her made it clear how much love and soul she has poured into this place.|I know this is a long review, but weeks later I’m still thinking about our time here. As a gay couple, we also want to highlight how safe, comfortable, and genuinely welcomed we felt — which meant the world to us.||What was supposed to be just a stopover became the highlight of our journey. Nişanyan Hotel is more than a hotel — it’s an experience full of soul, heart, and magic. We cannot wait to return and will recommend it to everyone we know.||✨ If you want to feel truly immersed in history, nature, and intimacy, this is the place for you. ✨

The best place we stayed on our one month trip in Türkiye! The staff were lovely, the breakfast was as nice and the views of Sirence were beautiful every morning. They upgraded our room for free, and the marble pool was so nice and cold and refreshing we couldn’t get enough of it. A must stay if you’re in the Sirence area! 10/10
