Nishiki

"Despite opening over 20 years ago, the bustling atmosphere and tasty grill dishes of this izakaya-style place still shine. The Japanese owner-chef teaches his kitchen team the tricks for perfect barbecue – his famous tsukune, for example, is made with boneless chicken thigh from Japan and Brazil in a specific ratio. Grilled chicken liver from local farms is another speciality. Reservations are recommended; ask for counter seats to get close to the action." - Michelin Inspector

This cozy Japanese restaurant is located inside the Regal Kowloon Hotel but they offer lunch sets that starts from HK$100! What a deal! The Japanese owner there is very friendly. The lunch set comes with two small veggie appetiters, an udon noodle soup, a main rice of your choice and a coffee. We ordered one chicken and egg (family style) rice and a rice with the famous chicken skewers. Everything was delicious and the portion is quite big. We ordered the iced coffee. It came with syrup and milk on the side. The place can be packed during lunch hour and dinner time so it's advised to make reservations.

Restaurant was a little tricky to find but once found, we thought that the food was great and tasty. We particularly liked the eel, tebasaki and mushrooms. Service was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back!

It’s so good ! I had to write the review while dining. Tough to find good yakitori in HK and glad we found Nishiki. The crispy potato salad, Eel, grilled mackerel and Chicken meat sausage was amazing!!!! Chicken hip and wings were equally good. Skin was nice and crisp. Meal for 2 with 320ml sake bottle cost about 1200Hk$ for two. Didn’t leave hungry.

The interior looks and feels a bit old, however don’t be deceived by it’s looks. The food is super authentic (ran by a super kind Japanese old man!) Recommend the minced chicken sausage, chicken skin, fried chicken, crispy potato salad, & bacon mushroom roll. The service felt warm and genuine. An old school spot!
