Cyprus Has the Cleanest Waters in the World

"A picturesque Cypriot beach characterized by striking clear blue waters and powdery white sand; it exemplifies the island's exceptionally high coastal water quality—Cyprus was ranked by the European Environment Agency as having the cleanest bathing water in Europe, with 99.2% of tested sites rated excellent—making this a popular spot for swimming and relaxed beach holidays." - Katie Nadworny Katie Nadworny Katie Nadworny is an Istanbul-based writer who specializes in stories at the intersection of culture and politics in Turkey, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. A beautiful beach with clear waters and a relaxed, inviting atmosphere. It gets quite crowded during the summer months, but outside peak season, it's a lovely spot to unwind and enjoy the scenery.

Great beach, awesome water, we loved it! And the fact that we also had the chance to have all water activities so close on the beach, was a great advantage! Prices are normal, a lot of space for everyone, we enjoyed it very much!

Nissi Beach is known for being a beautiful beach and a party central. And, certainly, there is truth to both of the claims. Especially the party bit. Although most of the credit for that goes to the Nissi Beach Bar. Still, the reputation is merited. And, the beach is undeniably beautiful. To quote a local person's description of it: "It's like the European Maldives". I concur with the statement. The sandy beach is beautiful, the views are gorgeous and the water is regularly just right, neither cold nor warm. But, there is one thing that is a bit of an annoying issue with this beach. The waters here would normally be dazzlingly azure and crystal clear, a marvel to behold But, the bay seems to be plagued with algal blooms. And, they seem to be quite prolific too. The shore can be veritably green and slimy, and honestly, disgusting to go through. Sometimes, it can even get mixed up with some rubbish that probably originates from some passing boats. The rubbish isn't plentiful, but when mixed in with the algae, it can really make it so you don't even want to go into the water. If you're lucky, there will be few or maybe even no algae, and the beach and the bay will be stupendously heavenly. Otherwise, you may want to try to quickly rummage through the "green belt" to reach the deeper water where it quickly turns to that heavenly azure again. It's a real pity, and either the hotels or the city seem to be hiring people to use nets to pull the algae out of the water, but there's just so much of it that, despite their best efforts, it still ends up green and slimy If not for this algal plague, the bay would be flawlessly beautiful...

We parked our car (we were lucky as we found a place right away but the parking lot was full), we checked out the beach but we immediately came back to our car and drove away. The beach looks stunning and the colour of the water is a beautiful clear turquoise, so it’s very inviting. But the beach was packed and most of the people we saw were young, load and “excited”. The sunbeds were so close together that you have zero privacy or peace, and I wouldn’t risk leaving anything valuable unattended. Also, all the water sports nearby make a lot of noise. So, I think this might be a good place to visit in May or late September, but I’m not sure. I imagine you would have less tourists and more peace and quiet. It seemed to have good facilities, like a big bar, a restaurant, toilets and showers, but it was too packed and too noisy.

Gorgeous beach, plenty of beds if you get there at 8:30am. 2 loungers and an umbrella cost just €7,50 and you can pay by card. Watersports within walking distance including lots of restaurants and shops. Souvlaki on the beach! Perfect morning with lunch before it gets too hot

Lovely blue waters. Sadly too much sea weed the day we were there. Gorgeous views. Massive beach across different hotels.

beautiful beach, beautiful people but.... I know it's a public beach but still no toilets, showers or changing cabins? Otherwise ok, sandy beach, gentle entrance to the sea, warm water.
