The Best Cafes in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"If filter coffee is more up your alley, look no further than this Parc Avenue sandwich shop that serves Anchored Coffee under its own label. The breakfast sandwiches, ranging from classic egg, cheese, and sausage to trout gravlax with coleslaw, are all worth trying (and easy to share, too). A welcoming terrasse sits out front." - Daniel Bromberg

Google
Good quality and fresh ingredients. That sentence alone is becoming more and more rare in our days. But this little eatery seems to value that really important aspect of restaurants. They bake the bread every day onsite. You see the staff preparing your sandwiches. The Tuna salad sandwich I had was good but the pickled cucumber stole the show. Crunchy and tasty. Really complements well the tuna. As we were there, a foodie tour came in. That says something because foodie tours usually takes people to places are have a little something out of ordinary. Well done. If you want something fresh, quick and decently priced, this checks the boxes.

Who would've thought soup + sandwich could be this interesting and yummy? My wife and I stopped here for a quick lunch today and we are thrilled we did. Bright, inviting little restaurant on Park, friendly staff, great food. We look forward to coming back next time we're in the Mile End.

I "ubereated" the chicken salad and the trout gravlax sandwiches. The chicken salad was good, but I prefer the traditional chicken salad sandwich. The trout gravlax tasted fishy and I threw it out. This is the first time I have trout gravlax, but I have trout carpaccio and salmon gravlax, both are excellent and do not taste fishy. Also they make their bread every morning, but it is very average-tasting bread.

Absolutely incredible food. Always ask about the sandwich of the moment! There is no such thing as a disappointment on the menu. Just go in and order whatever peaks your interest. Highly, highly recommend the BLT on the focaccia (my personal favourite ) you definitely want to ask for the soup of the day and top off the meal with a tasty soda. You just cannot go wrong dining at Nita. #1 sandwich shop in Montreal. 10/5 ⭐️

Absolutely love this sandwich spot! They make the bread in house and everything is so fresh and delicious! I usually get the tuna or chicken salad sandwich on the baps bread. Their cinnamon rolls are also to die for! Great food and great service :)

Google
Came here late September for their soft opening, and liked everything (very promising). The staff was already well trained, sandwiches (veal schnitzel and végé pâté) really tasty, and the bottomless coffee served deli style was nice while I enjoyed it outside while onlooking the bustling Park avenue scene! Good luck to the team and I can’t wait to go back! Ben

A great little place. I love me a good sandwich, and they offer quite the variety!! Looking forward to trying them all. I also very much enjoyed my drink, which was a carbonated Arnold Palmer (lemonade ice tea). Staff was pleasant and quick! Not very big with only a few tables is the only drawback.

Dining area and terrace are small-ish but well setup. Staff were kind and willing to respond to my questions about the menu. I felt a bit annoying as there was a line forming behind me but I was never rushed. I got the roast beef on a baps bun. The beef itself was some of the best roast beef I’ve had, it was a very juicy sandwich. The mushroom purée SLAPS and is truly the perfect condiment (if I can call it that) for this sandwich. Delicious!!

Yelp
December 2022 - COVID Review: My husband and I decided to do our own Mile End food tour by trying small bites at different restaurants in the neighborhood. To be honest, I wasn't expecting too much from here after seeing the menu options, but I'm glad to be pleasantly surprised! We shared a grilled cheese and a sausage, egg, and cheese. I loved how crispy the bread was for both of the sandwiches. The cheese pulls were so satisfying too.

Yelp
I'll be honest that I didn't have high expectations when I walked in here. I didn't recognize much on the menu and the gravlax sandwich didn't really sound appealing to me, especially after the process of making it was explained. I am happy to say that I was very pleasantly surprised when I bit into the sandwich, however. It was delicious, there's no other way to describe it. So, don't let the descriptions get the better of you, you'll be happy that you tried it! The owner was also so nice. You can really tell that he loves what he does and gets great joy sharing his food with the community!

Yelp
Their sandwiches are famous and worthy for a try! Grilled cheese sandwiches are my son's favorite! Gravlax sandwich with Simon and salad tastes great too. Service is ok. Tap water provided. Restaurant is small with washroom, but good music and cozy.

Yelp
We started a Mile End food tour here and enjoyed 1/2 smoked trout with fresh pickles/pickled lettuce (Gravlax Truite). The combination was fantastic and something that we'd never mixed before this experience. The whole ensemble was served on a homemade rye bun. It was the pinnacle of the food tour.

Yelp
I found this clean and somewhat 'Scandinavian chic with a touch of mid-century modern styled' sandwich shop after picking up a fresh bagel for a snack a few blocks away. Since one bagel is not a full meal (in most cases) I decided to have part two there. This light dinner consisted of their fully house made tuna salad sandwich with lightly marinated cucumbers on a rye bun. The sandwich overall was good, but a bit too unique in its flavour profile; with I believe mustard seeds, celery and fennel seeds making their way into various components. I did like the capers in the tuna and the overall brightness of the sandwich, but truth be told I am more of straight up well made creamy tuna salad on a bagel or challah type of person. There was too much going on and I think there was even some Dijon which I like normally, but didn't work in this setup. Unfortunately, the bun was also too dense which also took away from the whole package. I do believe their gravlax would have been a better choice and perhaps I will go back to try it. The real memorable part of the whole experience was the service. The two staff members who were present when I arrived were very pleasant and passionate about the shops offerings. They made that part a five. Overall four will have to suffice until I can try something else to possibly bolster it. Until then... I will ponder if it was Grey Poupon.
