Barbie Wearing a Meat Dress Is the Most Ridiculous New Hot Pot Accessory in NYC - Eater NY

"Hot pot’s newest celebrity endorser is Barbie herself, who at Niu Pot in Flushing dons a raw meat dress ready to be stripped and dipped into Chinese hot pot. The high fashion look first appeared in late January and has since been creeping into the Instagram feeds, no doubt primed to explode across social media. The couture creation, made for hot pot only, costs $45 for rib eye lovingly draped across a Barbie doll. A whopping 20 to 30 are ordered every night, a manager tells Eater. Meat Barbie was created about a month ago just as something fun, the manager adds, and rib eye is the only meat used because others are too big to make the dress. Earliest evidence of the creation online is January 27, and Niu Pot promoted the bovine Barbie as a Valentine’s Day special, though it has stayed on the menu for all to try. The restaurant, located at 42-35 Main St. between Franklin and Maple avenues, has been open since 2015. Besides more classic hot pot broths, it offers French lobster bisque and Japanese pumpkin crab soups for dipping, as well as another Instagram-baity winter melon hot pot that’s literally served in a melon." - Stefanie Tuder

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The broth was a bit heavy on the cumin, but not as heavy as Mongolian style hot pot. We missed the rolled fried tofu skin that many restaurants have, but the fresh tofu skin was the best I've had. The pork and lamb were far better than the beef. The cuts of meat were a bit on the thick side. I really liked the sauce bar. There was a great selection of fermented sauces. The wide potato noodles are a must get. I think this is a must try restaurant. It is in my top 5 hot pot restaurants in NYC.

The food was really good and the watermelon was a plus, my son was so amazed that he tried almost everything, the only thing is that he loves to eat octopus but they serve only squid it that was really hard to chew. the yellow beverage they serve was to sweet that he didn't drink it instead I ask for a tea for him and was great, another awesome think is one of the sauces they have ( i believe is made with seafood, well that's heaven).

Considering the fact that there are so many hotspot places in Queens, Niu hotspot is very nice and they offer all you can eat for a fairly decent price. The staffs were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious, fresh and tasty. We really enjoyed our time there and we definitely have plans on visiting soon. Less I forget, the space is bright and very nice to take pics 😊

Food is great and fantastic service. A hot pot restaurant with varieties new dishes. You can also taste the real cooking (not artificial mix soup). A thumbs up for the BBQ Master. It is definitely the choice for hot pot in Flushing.

My fiance and I stop by here because it was late and it was the closest restaurant from us. We saw this hot-pot restaurant that invites us to come in during the cold fall days. Only to be disappointed to find out the waitresses do not speak any english. It was our first time there and we were a bit frustrated due to the inability of our waiter to explain what they offer in their menu. To make things simple, we order buffet hot-pot for each of us. Even then, the waiter struggles to understand our choice of cuts and veggies in english. The food was ok, the beef broth is very tasty and highly recommended.

Warm service and great taste! The shrimp balls are truly fresh and delicious. The cage-free chicken is very tender and juicy. Will definitely come again!

The Japanese pumpkin broth was delicious! We also ordered the winter melon broth which you cook your food inside the melon. It was more for show and you are paying for it. It was pretty bland. The food was fresh, unique, and very good. It will hit your wallet though.
