No matter how many times I’ve been here the ice cream is always good. The hot kulolo sundae is top tier, dare I say I prefer this over the sweet lady (iykyk). I also love that it’s dairy free, so my lactose-intolerant self can go about my business without worry. The owner is such a nice person, and the staff are always helpful. If you haven't gone, you need to.

I had such a great experience here. The soft serve was absolutely amazing, it was perfectly creamy, smooth, and full of flavor. You can really tell they take pride in the quality of what they serve. On top of that, the staff was incredibly kind, patient, and welcoming. Their positive attitude genuinely made the visit even better. That’s why it was honestly a bit disappointing to learn that they only accept cash tips and not credit card tips. In 2026, most people travel and pay with their phones, including their credit cards. I rarely carry cash anymore, and I really wanted to tip the team because they truly deserved it. With how expensive everything is in today’s economy, I can only imagine how much service workers, especially locals or students working these jobs rely on tips. They absolutely earned one from me, and I wish there had been a digital option available. Overall, the product and service was outstanding. I just hope they consider adding credit card tipping in the future so customers like me can properly show appreciation for the hardworking staff.

Normally I love NIU because their ice cream is super yummy, but yesterday I think I was overcharged with a very little amount of toppings that I added to a shake. When I came back to ask if I could get some more topping, she charged me again for the smallest cup. $12 is not a lot for their normal price, but I just kinda felt like the employee was not very friendly (or maybe just towards me.) If they were busy I would understand, but when I came the place was empty with no other customers. I did not want to leave a bad review, but did not know how else I could give them feedbacks. I’ve never left a “sweet treats” place feeling not welcomed so it was just a disappointing experience. 3 stars is because all the other visits were nice 😊

Visited last month for the first time and my TIP would be to get a combination of flavors! I got Niu (Coconut) and Ube with Hot Kulolo! Absolutely loved that it is Non-Dairy and my next visit I will try more toppings. Very delicious and I will be back!! The cool thing about this shopping center are the options for food and entertainment (Favorite combo is Food+ Clawsters + Niu)

This was a perfect treat to a hot Sunday afternoon. I has the liliko’i one and my mom had the hot kulolo sunday. It was very good. It had mochi on it and the hot kulolo was very good. Servers were very nice and friendly as well.

I always stop at Niu multiple times every time I visit Oahu. As a dairy-free girly, their soft serve doesn’t get much better than this. I absolutely love their Niu (coconut) flavor. It’s creamy, smooth and perfect in flavor. Their staff is always SO friendly as well. One thing thats always stands out to me is that they bring your order to you- instead of calling out your name for you to get it. Whether you’re the only person there or it’s busy. It’s a nice gesture. Thank you Niu soft serve parlor- can’t wait to be back on my next visit :)

My wife and I come to honolulu every year and didnt realize this gem was here.. Customer service is top notch with very friendly staff! The vegan ice-cream selections were outta of this world. You honestly couldn't go wrong with any choice you make when shopping here. Its very hard to find good vegan ice-cream let alone vegan soft serve and these guys knocked it out of the park. We visited twice during our week stay and wish we had more time to check out the pie options but we ran out of time, which means we will be back again next year!. Prices are very fair and their toppings are endless. A little hard to find the location because its in-between some businesses but once you find where it is, you will be back a few times I guarantee it. Keep an eye out for their specials board too as they have alot of specials turning frequently. You can tell the people that run this shop care about customers by the friendly experience. Highly reccomend. Easily the best vegan ice cream we had on the island! Keep up the great work guys 🫱🏼‍🫲🏾.

I just want to say that their cookies are some of the best I have had, but that for some reason it tastes even better with their soft serve.. I don't know why but trust me... My friend got that cookie sundae combo and after sampling hers I wanted to eat the whole thing (oops) My go-to is the Hot Kulolo Sundae. I love it so much. It has warm Kulolo on the bottom and the cold ice cream on top. I recommend the ube. Service was pleasant and fast and they had some dine-in tables indoors. It got kinda crowded though so keep that in mind. Such a gem my friends and I say this is one of our all-time favorite places for ice cream and for a good reason it really is that good.

I went twice this week to introduce family members to Niu and they all loved it! Both times I tried different things than I normally get like the kalamansi slush with niu soft serve and the cookies and peanut butta sundae. Both were great though I'd recommend the slush more for the day time or when it is hot as it is easy to get a brain freeze haha. They are very popular now since my first review years ago so you may have to wait a few minutes for them to make your order but it is worth the wait. The workers work hard to keep up. The niu (coconut) and ube are standard flavors while two others change every 2 weeks to keep things interesting. The only tough thing is parking with all the other restaurants but I've often found street parking as a backup.

I 100000% recommend you come here for a SWEET TREAT. It's the best. I got a swirl of mixed berry and this sweet milk. That was good, although it was a little gritty because of the fresh berries. HOWEVER, if you get the UBE flavor. It's OUT OF THIS WORLD. Super creamy, it doesn't taste like an artificial flavor, and not too sweet. Pair the ube with Mac nuts and it's the perfect combo. I'll be coming back again, it does get a little busy at night, but it's totally worth it.

Came right at opening and there were three others in the store. The worker worked quickly to ensure orders were completed and was still setting up and getting things organized for the day. Ok, so I know this place has a ton of great reviews, and it's really not bad at all. I just think for the price of their soft serve, the value wasn't there. BUT it's an AMAZING dairy-free option. I ordered the Hot Kulolo Sundae, a fixed item menu. I got it with the ube cream swirl. Honestly, it was hard to tell the soft-serve was non-dairy, and the Hot Kulolo was really good. It was chunks of super soft, warm kulolo. Pros: - Staff super friendly and helpful - Their stuff tasted pretty good and not plasticky like some other soft serves - NON-DAIRY!!! - Make your own cone/bowl or pick from a fixed menu. Cons: - Value for price. I paid over $10 with tax and tip for not a lot of product. - Parking while free is really hard to come by, especially when the other restaurants are busy. - The inside wasn't brightly lit, and the tables were a little dirty and sticky. Located in the center across old stadium park where Kozo Sushi and L&L are, on the L&L side. I'm glad I at least tried it and have a dairy-free dessert spot to go to.

Drove to shopping center with Kozo Sushi and found a new soft serve shop. When you walk in, the entire shop smelled like cookies and the air conditioner is on full blast. It opens up to a slight slope in the door to the waiting area. There's are 5 patio table sets and a bench right next to their pick up area. It is dairy-free, plant-based soft-serve ice cream. There are 4 flavors of soft serve: mixed berry, ube, niu coconut , and sweet cream. They offer samples and I suggest you try it before you order. They offer sundaes, milkshakes malts, 4 sizes and toppings Ala carte, and drinks, cookies and pies/slices. Service was straightforward and we waited on the bench looking at the fresh baked cookies in the drying rack. I ordered the strawberry yuzu lemonade for my husband, a Keiki cup with mixed berry and sweet cream swirl, and a MOCHA PEANUT BUTTA milkshake. The yuzu lemonade was filled to the top and came out first. It was a bit longer for my milkshake, maybe 10 minutes. And then my son's soft serve came out last. Tbh I didn't really like the coconut and the mixed berry. It was the fake coconut taste that doesn't leave the mouth, and the mixed berry was like a really grainy watery açaí or blueberry. I wanted a milk shake that was easy to drink on the go but ALL the milk shake flavors were with the niu coconut base. I ordered the MOCHA PEANUT BUTTA asked for a substitution at the register to have sweet cream instead. I even said I don't like the coconut. When it came out I do not think they substituted it. Every sip has the coconut aftertaste- it is not masked by the coffee, cocoa, or the peanut butter. I got about half way but ended up throwing it out because I was disappointed with it. Service was meh if they didn't substitute it.

Coconut based vegan soft serve? Count me in! I came here on a Saturday evening after dinner for a sweet treat. I got the ube soft serve with cookies and peanut butter topping. It was absolutely delicious. It was a little busy when I got there, but the line moved steadily. When I got my soft serve, it wasn't difficult for me to find a seat inside to enjoy my treat. If you're lactose intolerant or gluten-free, this place is kind of a dream. There are so many options, and not in a "sad substitute" way--like actually good. The whole vibe? It's giving Papa's Freezeria. If you know, you know. And if you know... you're a real one. You go for something fun--maybe the ube and coconut swirl with salted fudge (yes, the fudge is dairy-free). It makes no difference--it's still rich, still chocolatey, still incredible. Or you build your own moment--ube base, organic peanut butter (tastes just like regular peanut butter), plus pretzels and Oreos on top. It sounds chaotic, but it works. It really works. One thing you notice? The spoons are tiny. Like... tiny tiny. And weirdly, it's kind of perfect. You're forced to slow down, actually enjoy it, not just inhale your dessert in two seconds. Also, somehow it's not aggressively cold--no brain freeze, which feels like a miracle. And the service? So kind. The staff are friendly, patient, and super accommodating--letting you try different flavors if you're unsure and helping you figure out what you'll actually like. Vegan, delicious, colorful. You can't ask for much more I have been here twice and really enjoyed it both times. First time I got the li hing slushy, delicious. Yesterday I got the pandan/salted vanilla pretzel swirl and my daughter got ube. Make sure you know going in that it is vegan and made with a coconut base so if you don't like coconut you may not be a huge fan, but I love coconut and mixed with ube and pandan it's 10/10. I appreciate they have the keiki size because that's more than enough when you want just a little treat. My sister also tried their new cookie selection, we weren't hungry enough for their new cookie sundae but the miso caramel cookie was perfection! We did mix a few bites with the soft serve and it was Parking can be a bit limited when busy but I always find a spot, worst case theres almost always a spot nearby on King st. There's about 6 tables inside, best not to need to use the bathroom while here because it's outside and not great, and out of service on the day we went. The only downside. There's a freezer with several take home options.

This hole is the wall restaurant packs delicious flavors with fun customization. Several flavors, most of which are vegetarian, and many toppings to choose from. If you need a cold treat, this might be the best ice cream spot in town!

I absolutely love all things ube and I saw that this spot was on Yelp's Top 100 Places to Eat in Honolulu so I knew I had to check it out. They offer a variety of soft serve, sundaes, and drinks. I opted for the ube and coconut soft serve swirl and I thought it was the perfect sweet treat to cool myself down on a warm day. The ube flavor in the soft serve was strong which I appreciated. I'm also usually not a fan of coconut flavored things, but actually really enjoyed it here, which surprised me. They offer samples for the soft serve so be sure to take advantage of that if you're unsure on what to order. Service here was quick and friendly. The store itself is bright and welcoming and has a decent amount of spots to sit to enjoy your sweet treat. Overall, I'd recommend this spot!

Dare I say this is my favorite ice cream I've had on Oahu... ever?! It's definitely top 3!!! WOW!! Their soft serve is UNREAL. I got the ube and coconut swirl cone and it was sooooo yummy. It tasted so local and unique, flavor wise. I loved the texture of the ice cream... it's creamy yet icy. They also give drip sleeves which is genius. Even the waffle itself was super tasty. My party also ordered an Oreo ube shake and peanut butter mocha shake... both were delicious There's a few tables and chairs inside to enjoy your dessert. The only downside is their location.... Parking was really hard to get at 7pm on a Sunday. In addition, it's hard to find. You can't see it from the street. It is totally worth dealing with parking for how amazing their dessert is. I will for sure come back and tell everyone I know about my new favorite place!

It was decent here. I think I built it up too much in my head. Not bad at all. Small parking lot. Small store actually. The staff is just kind of meh. Not super friendly but not rude. Not really helpful in the sense that I think they assume you know how to order... but they dont explain a lot about their menu. I always feel a lot of pressure bc we roll in as a party of six with 4 kids and theres not a lot of space when people come in behind you. I feel like I get drawn to these places bc of IG but then I dont see whats advertised on their menu. It tastes good though.

Great little vegan ice cream spot. Don't be put off by the fact that it's vegan, because this place is a gem, and proves that you don't need dairy to make delicious soft serve. They serve four flavors; two (ube and coconut) are always available, and the other two change every two weeks. The flavors are unique and always delicious--I order the pandan malt flavor whenever it's available. They also have cookies, pies, and some creative sundaes on the menu, or you can make your own. Pints of soft serve are available for sale in a small freezer. There are several tables inside, and there is some free parking (20 min max) in the lot.

The dessert was amazing, I have been looking at this place for a while on instagram. There was a large group ahead of us, and it did take longer than we expected, but it was worth the wait.

Decided to check this place out. Was thinking about getting a sundae but didn't want to eat at the store and thought to messy to drive with so I ordered a malted shake (Mocha Peanut Butta) for $9.50. Service - not sure if they liked working there as order taker didn't smile or welcome customers. 3 stars Taste - good. 5 stars Price - expensive. 3 stars Then I thought more about what goes into why the price seems expensive for around 12 oz of shake (see photo about size of a soda can). Owner(s) has to pay rent/insurance of a store space vs small food truck, State of Hawaii mandated increase minimum wage, raw materials to Hawaii cost more, and they have to make a little profit. So rating is 3 stars if I have to pay for the shake as I can't afford to visit often. 4-5 stars if someone else treats me there.

This place is chef's kiss! I've been coming here for a sweet little treat since 2022?! Time flies! I'm happy they're still around. I don't stop by super often, but when I do, I always order the same thing: the Mocha Peanut Butta Malt Shake. It's my go to! There's just something so baelife about the combo--the subtle coconut taste, with the peanut butter drizzle inside the cup, the mocha malts, and that powdered peanut butter mixed in. It's so good! I also love that it's dairy free, which is a big plus for me. As I'm getting older, I think I've become more sensitive to dairy--even though I hardly eat it to begin with (maybe that's why?). Anyway, this spot is so cutesy and perfect for bringing friends or family, or even for a debatable quicky first date. Also really love their website and whoever does their graphics and signage, well done! Overall Highly recommend!

I went around 6pm thinking it would be busy but it wasn't. There were people dining in but the service was fast pasted with kind employees being patient while I take my time wondering what I felt like eating. Went with the ube cookies and cream shake and you could definitely taste the Ube. Would definitely come again especially on a hot day.

I have bookmarked this place forever because of the Yelp reviews. Blessed to try this place today. For me it was just average just three stars... Really friendly girl working the counter... great service. But for me the flavors just aren't that strong. I found that Ube and coconut both very muted. I definitely like stronger flavors so if you're like me you might want to forego this place. The texture is great I just prefer much stronger flavors.

I tried the hot kulolo sundae with Niu coconut soft serve and it wasn't bad. The kulolo was fresh and the mac nuts were grounded up nicely. My other half had the I Really Lilikoi You sundae with Niu coconut and it was okay (the syrup seemed too sweet). The frozen yogurt is okay but I've had better. It was very busy on a Saturday night so we waited for a table to open, but the service was good and fast. Overall, it was a great experience. It probably wouldn't be my first choice for frozen yogurt next time, but I'd be okay to return if I had to.

Like many others have said, this is the perfect way to end a meal. Being first timers, it took a few bites/licks to get used to the flavor. But after that, it was so addicting. The cookie was yummy also. I must go back soon to try the other menu items!

Found this on yelp on a earlier visit to Honolulu but never had a chance to give them a try! Well tonight had dinner at Golden Eagle and walked across to Nui soft serve for dessert all within the 1 hour free parking limit! What a awesome find - great friendly service answering questions- Letting us know how it all works - and gave us samples - all good flavors We got the Lilikoi cream so good ! Excellent soft serve just know I'll be skipping dinner and going straight to the soft serve next time

This was off the beaten path in Honolulu but definitely worth the visit. It was a quiet afternoon but we were in the mood for Vegan treats. Everything was delicious we had pandan soft serve and the holoholo pie. The service was fast and there was a constant stream of customers while were there. I will definitely go back next time we are in Honolulu! There were a few tables and clean modern decor.

The first time I came to Niu, I didn't know they were dairy free. If nobody had told me, I would have been none the wiser. This place makes amazing soft serve. Not "amazing for being dairy free soft serve" - amazing soft serve, full stop. I've been back a couple of times now and while everything I've tried is delicious, the hot kulolo sundae has been my favorite. Their ice cream flavors rotate fairly often, so you might not be able to recreate a past experience, but I think it's hard to go wrong with whatever choices are currently on the menu. The shop is small with just a few tables inside and can get crowded during busy times. Staff is always friendly and while you might need to wait to order during a rush, your ice cream will get prepped pretty quickly after you order. They share a parking lot with several other nearby businesses and I have noticed that there's usually plenty of parking during the day, but it gets pretty full during dinner/at night. There's usually street parking nearby if you need it.

After a wonderful dinner with family, we were in the mood for a sweet treat that was refreshing and not overly sweet or heavy. My cousins suggested Niu Soft Serve nearby, and it turned out to be the best decision! Niu Soft Serve offers a fantastic variety of base flavors and unlimited combinations. We couldn't resist trying a bit of everything, and each flavor was delightful. My personal favorite was the Niu with lilikoi and macadamia nuts--absolutely delicious! Other family members enjoyed the ube, pandan, and Thai tea flavors. Every option was incredibly "Ono" and the perfect way to end a great 4th of July weekend with the family. We'll definitely be back for more tasty treat and awesome friendly service.

Niu is a small dessert parlor in Honolulu near the Waikiki strip. We were surprised to find that their soft serves are dairy, free, and made from coconut milk. The parlor also has other desserts, such as baked goods, ice cream sandwiches, shakes, and a holoholo pie that is also made of coconut ice cream. Service is friendly. Desserts are delicious. If you are looking for a good dairy free alternative, I would definitely check this place out. Even if you're not, I would still check it out anyway.

Great spot for ice cream! This shop is located in a small plaza along S King Street. Parking is available in the plaza lot, which can get kind of busy on the weekend or Friday night; there is some street parking available as well so you might have to hunt around for a bit. There's a bench outside and some seating inside! Service is pretty friendly! I ordered the ube matchazuki (matcha, azuki paste, mochi), and it came out quickly. I loved how soft and smooth it was; the ube flavor was delicious, and the red bean paste and mochi complemented the ube very well. Portion size was pretty good for the price too! You can also buy pints of soft serve to bring home with you. Definitely will come back to try their seasonal flavors and other offerings.

Upon entering Niu we were warmly greeted and offered samples. We first tried the toasted Niu (5/5) then creamy mango (5/5) then Niu (5/5). The toasted Niu is a special flavor that reminds me a toasted coconut candy. The creamy mango is made from Hayden mangoes and tastes like a perfectly ripe and juicy mango. The Niu is also very delicious and refreshing. My cousin and I were blown away. Prices are reasonable considering that Niu is local and locally sourced. You can just taste the fresh ingredients and aloha that goes into the soft serve. They even sell pints of the soft serve which we happily purchased for our family. Buy 4 get one free! Score! Parking is ample and free. But it can get busy because of the restaurants that share the lot. During the time we visited, it was easy and had lots of available stalls. I love Niu not just because it has delicious, locally sourced ingredients, and is dairy free. Niu Soft Serve Parlour is easy to miss--just another storefront in the middle of a strip center--but stepping inside is refreshingly laid-back and cheerful. Tonight's swirl was ube and coconut: creamy, balanced, and not too sweet. They switch flavors every two weeks, so there's always something new to look forward to. I tried the mocha peanut butta shake--an intriguing mix of nutty and coffee notes. Probably not an every-time pick for me, but worth sampling.

Lactose intolerants of the world unite! We tried the 2 specials here and we're impressed by the intense yuzu lemon and Chai masala flavors. You get a large serving in a cup for less than $7.00 which is quite a deal nowadays. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Parking can be a small issue as the lot serves at least 5 other businesses.

Amazing place! Delicious cookies and top tier ice cream. We only wish we tried it earlier in our trip so that we were able to come every day! lol Ice cream was exceptional, not too sweet but full of flavor. We got to try their miso caramel cookie, soft inside and crunchy on the outside. The perfect cookie. 10/10 experience! Sesame brittle was also a must try topping! Coffee lovers, don't skip out on the coffee almonds, they're so yummy. Good service, good vibes! Downside: closed on Mondays

Friendly and fast service. Cute shop with seating option for eager eaters. The vanilla salty pretzel flavor soft serve was so good! The star of the show was definitely the Hot Kulolo Sundae with coconut soft serve and Mac nut toppings! Kulolo was nice and hot and perfect portions to soft serve. Can't wait to go back!

A friend and I split the hot kulolo sundae with niu and ube soft serve - it was so ono the warm, gooey kulolo complements the cold ice cream so nicely, and the mac nuts add a great crunchy textural element. Awesome local-inspired dessert! I like that there is a bench outside if you prefer outdoor seating.

Nui soft serve with warm kulolo is so delicious! And so refreshing as we wait in the hot Sun outside till they opened, was in the area so it was worth the wait! The do a bunch of other things as well check out the menu! Service was fast and got our order very quick! Keep up the great work!

Such a good spot for dairy free soft serve! The ube is delicious and not too sweet. Get the hot kulolo sundae with the condensed milk!!!

Delicious flavors of soft serve that often rotate weekly or monthly. Ube and coconut (Niu) are the standard mix of flavors in the soft serve swirl and is very good. Dairy free so extra yummy without any lactose problems.
