The 14 Best Restaurants In Downtown Nashville 2024

"If a restaurant and a spa had an illicit affair after one too many beers on Broadway, 1 Kitchen would be the result. It’s right off the lobby of the 1 Hotel and a great spot to grab some lighter cocktails and bites after work. There's lots of natural woods and plants, along with dishes that lean toward the sneaking-spinach-into-your-peanut-butter-smoothie type of healthy. Gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan labels are all over the menu, and next to dishes like burrata and tomato carpaccio, pan-seared red snapper with okra soffritto, and roasted baby carrots with tahini. The cocktails, with minimal ingredients and fresh juices, also feel like they might actually be good for you." - jackie gutierrez jones 2, ann walczak

Black bean paste? I am not sure what it is and I am positive that I don’t want to know how it is made. My Chinese food safety rule is, if the meal doesn’t have General Tso’s name on it, proceed with caution. Versions of No 1 Kitchen’s “Triple Crown” meals looked delicious. I took the risk and went with the Hunan version, which has the spicy black bean sauce. The black bean sauce was rich, savory, spicy delicious. Not sweet. The meal was a big, full plate of food. A balanced mixture of fresh vegetables, loaded up with tender chicken, beef and shrimp. This was a great meal. Spicy black bean sauce, works for me. I think General Tso would have liked it. My wife went with the Lo Mein with Shrimp. She enjoyed the meal. She offered me a bite, but I passed on it. I don’t like spaghetti. We also shared a bowl of hot and sour soup. It was loaded with mushrooms, tofu, egg and vegetables in a tasty tangy spicy thick broth. Very good. This is a clean comfortable little restaurant with table service and drive through. The restaurant stayed surprisingly busy even after the lunch hour rush. I had dined at No 1 Kitchen several years ago. I was not impressed with the food enough to come back since. Recent reviews that I have seen, enticed me to give No 1 Kitchen another try.

Google
Real ceramic plates and stainless silverware with authentic taste. The Egg Foo Young was so fluffy, and the gravy was spot-on. My husband's Szechuan dish was also amazing. Very reasonable prices. What more can we ask? Will definitely be back soon.

There was one other table when we came in, and the place smaller so amazing. Ordering was simple and the food came out quickly. We ordered egg rolls, house combo fried rice, cheese wontons, and a beef and rice meal. Everything was great except the beef. Someone different about the beef. Corn starch or something on it? Idk. Tasted gristly. We enjoyed ourselves and had a good time here.

Google
Had an amazing meal here, they were so kind and gave us plenty of time to look over all the choices. It was delicious, with a wide selection and made fresh! All with low prices. Perfect place to eat!

Google
Fair pricing, friendly staff, tasty food. I got the black pepper shrimp. The brown sauce was a bit too sweet for my liking, but still tasted good. The shrimp tails were not removed , but I think that's just to show its freshness. 8/10

I ordered a meal for the family(3 meals) to be delivered through their site not DoorDash or any other 3rd party service and I was so sorely disappointed. Not only did I have to call them after waiting an hour and no food only to find out it had just been sitting waiting with no idea of when I would receive my now I assumed cold order. Only to get it mere minutes later, with an Asian man I assumed who works for them, just non worries attitude hand me a bag and walk away. I was never apologized to or anything. The best parts are they didn’t even give me my order but I assume someone else’s because I have no idea what the 5 meals they gave me were and still cleared my card for the extra $8 tip I was trying to be generous to give someone local rather than some 3rd party fees. Needless to say BUYER BEWARE if you plan on ordering through the restaurant page for delivery. As for my family because of the all out lack of effort we will NEVER be back through this particular restaurant !!!!!

They never give me a fork to eat with. Ever! Cutting cost? Maybe... foods pretty good. But when are you guys going to invest in a soda dispenser?

Google
Been in BA for 15yrs and had always supported them, food is always hot and fresh not to mention delicious and employees there are amazing..if haven't been should definitely give em a try, they have an abundance of items on the menu sure to hit the taste buds out your mouth

Yelp
Really good sushi and Chinese! Tried the egg rolls, Szechuan beef, beef fried rice, and the shrimp roll with eel and all were good.

Yelp
I got the pork egg foo young and it was sooo good. Some of the best I have in a while. The gravy was great and they gave me so much. This made two meals. I was too hungry and did not get pictures. I also had the steamed dumplings and these I have gotten a lot and they always hit.

Yelp
If you've been to the location in Tulsa, you've been going to No 2 Kitchen because this is where it all began, the OG No 1 Kitchen. This location actually looks newer and better. Why should you go to No 1 Kitchen? Simple, for good Chinese food at a relatively inexpensive price. Is it the cheapest in town? No, but it's affordable. Is it the best Chinese food in Broken Arrow? VERY POSSIBLE. There's not much in Broken Arrow. I can tell you the hot and sour soup and the triple crown in garlic sauce were both delicious. This location also has semi table service as well although most people get their food to go. Otherwise, they may not be able to handle the workload. It was more busy than some of the Chinese restaurants in Tulsa. Years ago I gave No 2 Kitchen in Tulsa a 4 stars so I have no choice but to give No 1 Kitchen a 5 stars. Why not? It just makes sense to me.

Yelp
Excellent food. It was hot, spicy and perfect. I ate there in 2016, it's my new fav Chinese Food place.

Jorinda A.

Yelp
Our host was amazing! Food was delish! Place is clean! chef was on fire! The best place in Broken Arrow so far!

Tammy F.

Yelp
Ordered online. Food was ready when we arrived. Great taste, great price. Very friendly staff.

Yelp
This place looks and fels.like a hole in the wall but their food is wonderful. Full.of flavor and reasonable. Drive through is great and eating in feels sketchy but it is just as good as the drive through.

Yak R.

Yelp
We had not ordered from here in a couple of years so when looking for someplace open on Christmas Day we did an online order. It was ready & hot when we picked it up. BUT we specifically asked for no celery in our cashew chicken (it was even on our receipt print out) & there was at least three full cups of celery. There was exactly one slice of carrot, a couple of chunks of green pepper, a few string beans and maybe a very small handful of cashews. So basically it was celery chicken not cashew chicken. The flavor was so-so. The other dish was mediocre at best. So probably won't be back for another couple of years.

Yelp
Overall solid spot for Chinese dishes and some options for Japanese if you want to order at the drive-thru, carry out OR dine in. I have NOT tried any Japanese style dishes here but I have had many items off of the Chinese menu. I tell you, I'm always happy to find a spot with ORANGE BEEF!! Orange chicken is everywhere, but it's kinda hard to find orange beef. Overall the food is delicious, it's always in huge portions and you get it all at a very reasonable price. I'm okay with all of that. I normally call ahead and do carry out, but I recently dined in for the first time not long ago. In a post COVID world, it's nice to sit down and enjoy chinese food with full service. I feel like it was really hard to find for a while and I'm stoked it's back here. I'll definitely be doing it again as 1.) the food is always good 2.) it's kind of small so it's not crowded or loud, 3.) the service we got was excellent. There's nothing fancy about anything you get here, but ya know, it's rock solid, the folks work hard to make quality, yummy food and I am all about that life. I'll keep eating here as long as I live in BA.

Danielle M.

Yelp
Very good place, definitely worth checking out! It's one of my favorite places in the area for Chinese takeout.

Jesse S.

Yelp
Always good food and service. We order to go food from here on a regular basis. Recommend giving them a shot!

Brian F.

Yelp
Paid $7 for a California roll n it was only 6 small pieces and poorly put together. I would be ashamed to put out a product like that. Very disappointed

Riley R.

Yelp
Great food and deals! Only got take out but I will be doing that again! Family of 6 deal was a steal for the price and everything was prepared perfect.

Mario L.

Yelp
I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture. But I picked up today a dinner size Mongolian beef, and house special lo mein, and 2 egg rolls. Man!!! It was delicious!!! I ate so much that my stomach is going to burst. So far I'm extremely happy with the meal and the quick service.

Ior E.

Yelp
the food was pretty good, the service was ok could have been better. the overall place terrible location the outside of the building looks really bad but the inside was pretty nice but a little too small. This would be a very good takeout restaurant tbh. This is a bad place to have a get-together or to have a party. It was kinda awkward to eat inside.

Ryan R.

Yelp
I've been going here for years. The food is delicious. But the service is ALWAYS terrible. Once they bring the food, you no longer exist. Be prepared to get your own refills and always have to go to the counter to ask for your check. The food is good enough to put up with the horrible service.

Sarah W.

Yelp
First time ordering, ordered through Door Dash and it came quicker than expected. I ordered the Spicy Garlic Beef. Loved it!!! It comes with eggplant which I wasn't expecting and didn't like(texture thing). But the chunks were huge so easy to remove. Hubby really liked his Sweet and Sour Chicken which is his go to. Everything was fresh and hot. Egg rolls were. Great portions for the price. Will def order again!!!

Kevin A.

Yelp
I think it's pretty solid. There are closer places to me but I prefer this one for Chinese food. Worth the 24 min drive there and back home.

Amanda W.

Yelp
I have spicy chicken with cashews. I liked it. The spices took me by surprise. For Chinese that we eat here, they offer sit down service. I'm not a fan of buffet

Jennifer T.

Yelp
I enjoyed the food, the service was good. I would have given it for stars except for the fact that I do not like spicy food at all and everything was Spicy even the sweet-and-sour sauce.
google avatar

Mary W.

Yelp
I have eaten in lots of Asian restaurants, and I think No. 1 Kitchen is the best in the area for takeout.
google avatar

LaDena H.

Yelp
Everything that I've had from here is delicious. My favorite, so far has been the Triple Crown in Garlic Sauce. It has tender beef, chicken, and shrimp in a slightly sweet, slightly spicy light brown sauce. The mix of vegetables that they use is my favorite, of all the asian restaurants I've had. They include the normal broccoli, carrots, onions, baby corn, but also add mushrooms, green beans, and EGGPLANT. Such a wonderful selection. I always request white rice rather than the standard fried rice. Also, their eggrolls are the best tasting local eggrolls that I've found. A typical meat/veggie/rice/eggroll combo here costs around $15, but is plenty of food with enough for leftovers. Their food is consistently good, and freshly made in 10-15 minutes if you call ahead to pickup your order at the takeout window. It's a family owned restaurant, so you may end up waiting for assistance while they complete operational tasks, but the staff is cordial and efficient when they see you need something.

Yelp
Pretty good. Didn't like the spicy tuna rolls . Instead of mixing the tuna with the spicy mayo , they just take regular tuna rolls and blob the spicy mayo on top leaving them tasting just like mayo. Have never had rolls done this way. Ordered the 3 delight- not many shrimp and the shrimp didn't taste fresh. I have no idea what one of the vegetables was in there- no one could place it. The beef lo mein was probably the best thing- delicious. The black pepper chicken and beef was good- just a little too sweet. The dishes here that say they are spicy are not. We will keep looking for a Chinese go to spot.
google avatar

Kelli B.

Yelp
What a tasty little Chinese restaurant. I don't normally eat here, but we ordered lunch at work and this place offers delivery to my job. I had the sweet and sour chicken, fried rice and an egg roll. The food was great! I love how puffy the chicken was and the food was really fresh. I tried someone's honey chicken and it had a bit too much sauce. They have a large selection and their lunch prices are very reasonable. I'll definitely try more things from the menu next time.

Yelp
We often order from No 1 Kitchen at 1933 S Elm Place in Broken Arrow. They get the order right and the food is hot and fresh every time. Our favorites are the not-spicy Mongolian double delight, moo goo gai pan, fried rice, chicken fried rice, egg rolls, and wontons. Their delivery driver is prompt, courteous, and deserves a tip.
google avatar

Stephen B.

Yelp
Food is good but old woman when she works is rude. Plastic forks not covered in plastic yuck and she handles the money.

Holden W.

Yelp
greatest food ever dont have to wait long great establishment overall

Mary W.

Yelp
Probably the best Chinese in Broken Arrow but I give it 3 stars because the delivery man isn't so friendly. I actually dread the wait, hoping it's going to be someone else delivering the food to my house. You have to order their wings and crab Rangoon for sure because they're so good. Forget about their red sauce for the Rangoon though because it tastes like iron. Not authentic at all.
google avatar

Don H.

Yelp
Quick and convenient drive through window available. My wife loves the chicken fried rice. My go to's are General Yao's chicken, Kung Po chicken and Szechuan Chicken. Occasionally they seem scared to make it spicy as I have requested. Serving sizes are generous. We eat here 2-3 times a month & have been pleased with everything.

Josh B.

Yelp
Ordered food for work and I was pleasantly surprised!!! The Philly roll is sooo good! Along with everything else I ordered..They have really stepped up their game from a few years ago..will for sure be going back a lot more often
google avatar

James H.

Yelp
Always spot on. I am so happy that I live close to what I think is the best Chinese food within a 15-20 drive from there Broken Arrow location. Always delicious and the service is always polite and courteous. It's always just as good as the first time and for a family like mine that's super important. Thank you so much!!
google avatar

Jenni L.

Yelp
It doesn't get better than this! No. 1 Kitchen is a tiny little place where you go dine in or drive-thru. They serve the freshest, most delicious food. You will have to wait, even in the drive-thru because they cook everything as it is ordered. But that's the best thing about it. I have been eating here for years and have NEVER been disappointed. Their prices are in line with everyone else's. I recommend this place to everyone.
google avatar

Melissa W.

Yelp
I always order online and pick up through the drive thru. The food is always hot and packaged well. Never had any spills or leaks. Orange chicken is delicious. I also enjoy their lo mein, cream cheese won tons, and sweet and sour soup. This is my go to place for quick and tasty Chinese food.

Jeremy B.

Yelp
They are always fast and friendly, and their food is some of the best Chinese/Japanese food you will find in the area. My daughter, a picky eater, loves their fried rice;
google avatar

Kayla B.

Yelp
Great! Food was great and hot. Good size portions for the price. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking g for good Chinese food.

Rhonda M.

Yelp
Ordered a veggie noodle, more noodles than veg. No one was wearing a mask which made me wary. The food was hot so that was okay. My hubby's hunan beef was spicy and tasted good. As a former Las Vegas resident it was a disappointment, as a native of Broken Arrow it was still a disappointment.
google avatar

Craig B.

Yelp
We tried this place because the reviews said it was pretty good. We ordered fried dumplings and got steamed dumplings delivered. When we told them the order was wrong, they decided to argue and say the order was right. Horrible customer service and will never order from here again.
google avatar

Scott B.

Yelp
The portions are amazing and the food comes out so fast you would think that it was waiting for you. It's a great value for the cost and we are going to put it in the regular rotation!
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Okay, you're not going here for the ambiance and delivery is spotty with any place that delivers but this place is amazing. It's sweatpants on the couch food. Get Bourbon chicken with lo mein and steamed dumplings and cheese wontons. It's the best ever. The prices are amazing. I will warn you that the orange chicken is really orangey but their food is always amazing.
google avatar

Lisa E.

Yelp
We ordered No 1 Kitchen on a Friday night. Unfortunately, hardly any Chinese restaurants deliver to our part of Broken Arrow, so when we found on that did, we decided to try it. It cost an extra $5.00 delivery fee, but if the food was great, it would be worth it. Unfortunately, we weren't impressed. The General Tso's that I ordered was okay, but not great. My husband also thought his Teryaki Chicken was just okay. The sushi I ordered was good, but it's hard to go wrong with a California Roll. The Cream Cheese Won Tons were the best part of the meal, but again, can you really go wrong with that? Please someone bring a good Chinese Delivery to east BA!

Noelle D.

Yelp
By the far the best Chinese restaurant in town! Every Tuesday night, my friends and I love to eat and the staff is always friendly and welcoming! There is a bunch of variety so there is always something new to try!

Darren N.

Yelp
This is probably one of my favorite Chinese restaurants! I really enjoyed the environment and music. The employees were very welcoming and helpful. Our waitress, Aubree, was very attentive and really helped us navigate through the menu! Sometimes it's a little chilly in here but the workers are always nice enough to fix that for us. I definitely recommend this place!! The food is some of the best Chinese food I have had in a long time, I definitely think if you come here you should try out the General Tso's chicken or the Sesame chicken. And don't get me started on the sushi, the fish is fresh and the rolls are made to order. Come check it out!

Kirk M.

Yelp
I live right across the street from this place and never bothered to check it out for some reason! Tonight (a Thursday) I went there at 8:45 (they close at 9). I ordered fried dumplings (perfectly cooked) and general Tsos chicken (perfectly cooked). The portions were so large I could only eat half, the price was reasonable, and the flavor was awesome! Oh and the fried rice was good, it was a little on the bland side but the texture was perfect. Overall 5/5 I'll definitely eat here again.
google avatar

Emily B.

Yelp
The best Chinese in Broken Arrow!! I asked my mom, who's currently in Hospice, what she wanted for dinner tonight? She said "No. 1 Kitchen, combo meal" & It was delicious!! Thank you!

Kirk K.

Yelp
Pluses: * Good asian food, of the accessible-to-the-western-palate variety. * Reasonably fast service * Huge kitchen, on direct view of the customers * Reasonably clean dining area * Popular for carry-out. Minuses: * Dining area is a bit slapdash and run down. Poor dining areas are a common feature of small, privately owned food service establishments, particularly those with drive-through. It is difficult for owner-operators to see the defects because their attention is taken up with keeping the kitchen operating acceptably, not a trivial task. What they don't understand is that a few dollars spent on upgrading the dining area pays off in happier customers and better word-of-mouth. Dining area employees should make an effort to at least spruce up the space, because drive-through customers generally do not tip.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
No 1 Kitchen told us that they serve Gluten Free options at their restaurant. The owner had no idea that soy sauce contained gluten after cooking our food with it and served it to my child and wife who have the gluten allergy. The owners excuse was that the workers at the restaurant do not speak very good English. You have to be kidding me. Never again will we eat here. BE WARE OF THIS RESTAURANT!!!!

Maggie N.

Yelp
I'd driven past this little place a million times and wondered if it could be one of those really great little hole in the wall kinds of places that are way better than expected. It was. There is a Chinese menu on one side and a Japanese (mostly sushi) menu on the other side. Since the sushi rolls were more than I was wanting to spend and not what I was after, I focused on the Chinese side and the seemingly endless choices. It even said that if there was a dish I wanted that wasn't listed to just ask. Pretty cool. I had the Beef and Eggplant in Garlic Sauce (or a name with all the same words, maybe in a different order) and got the combo which adds fried rice instead of white rice, plus an eggroll. He got the Pepper Beef. In both cases, the main dish was really awesome. I didn't love the eggroll and would probably skip doing the combo next time. This place does delivery (with $16 minimum order, according to the menu we brought home for future usage) and carry out, too, which is a wonderful thing for a place like here where the only other Chinese I've had has been at some icky buffet (too many of those in this area). Finally, I have a go-to Chinese place in the area. Oh, and they have the menu online, too, for ordering - bonus point for being able to order online, but then minus the same for the online menu being too clunky with way too many pages to wade through instead of something easier for browsing. Still, it's better than no online menu, right?

Yelp
Suprisingly, Broken Arrow is loaded with Chinese food restaurants....but this is the only one at the top. When it comes to chinese food, I look at price, portion, and flavor. Lets face it, most lack in one of these areas. No. 1 Kitchen is easy to drive by, but definately go check it out. Cheaper than that new black and white bear in BA and better as well. We like to order basic staples of sweet and sour chicken and sesamie chicken. Both are outstanding, but we just haven't decided to check out the rest of the menu yet. One meal can easily feed two people. Friendly service and fast too.
