Very sketchy process of engaging potential donors in the parking lot of a local supermarket. A man approached me from a table outside the supermarket asking me to donate to No Kid Hungry. I wanted to donate cash, but was told a minimum donation was $30. I proceeded to provide my credit card. The man asking for a donation was talking very fast and I began to get worried because I knew he was going somewhere with this. Sure enough, AFTER running my credit card and taking my personal information including birth date and address ("for the IRS"), he told me the actual donation he would accept was $30 A
MONTH because, you know, hunger is ongoing. When I declined to commit to a continuing donation and asked why he did not tell me that from the start - he said (honestly)... "Wouldn't you have just walked away?". I asked to terminate my donation, and he said "I never took your security code (CVV) so you didn't make a donation". We had some words and he lectured me about charity and my limited understanding. I feel very stupid for giving them personal information. Please don't fall for this yourself... this is non profit malfeasance and scam fundraising.
