It's been a couple years since I have followed up on reviewing NLB post-COVID-19 pandemic.
The ambience is great. The game library is neat and organized. The store retail section is what I imagine for a professional boutique game shop. The employees have always been friendly and helpful, as well as the owner(s) when I once met them years ago.
The bar serves some tasty pizza, and offers a decent array of beverages from alcoholic to nonalcoholic. While there are some good mock tails, there are some citrus flavored mock tails that were not so great. For instance, the bitterness in the Phony Negroni was overpowering all the other flavors in the drink. I also found it odd that the bartenders were not quick to clean table surfaces or offer to clean clear surfaces for occupied tables. Perhaps NLB employees have a different perspective on these factors, but the downsides are why I am downgrading the business to four stars.
There are different areas to play board games and TCGs across the store. An adding touch to the store's ambience is that they display local artwork for sell. One observation I found admirable about the store is their encouragement of LGBTQIA+ inclusion.
NLB has built strong brand equity, and they have a competitive advantage by offering table top gaming needs while also having a bar that prepares drinks and food. NLB's website offers a lot of information about their retail and services for customers.
I strongly recommend this store for those passionate about games, fellowship, and socializing. The store is great for college students, friends, parties, and business gatherings. NLB is personally my favorite place to spend time, which says a lot on how much I value the business.
