Great service, very clean spacious bathroom (two single unisex stall) and cozy ambience but food is pricy and was very salty. Parking garage is in the building diagonally across from this corner restaurant so don’t worry if you can’t find street parking. It is only two blocks from Sunset Mall so you can walk to it. Every dish looked beautiful but unfortunately the brunch menu was overly salted in the dishes.
Fried rice was perfectly cooked (high praise from my Chinese mother) but again most of the dishes were too salty or they had added spices of cumin or some Indian spice that made it unpleasant to eat. I had the smashed cucumber which was sliced cucumbers drowned in soy sauce and vinegar. No one liked it and I had to eat it because our family rule is “you ordered it, you have to eat it”. Eventually everyone gave me a “pass” and allowed me to stop torturing myself.
The raw scallop dish was okay (according to my sister and mom since I don’t eat raw foods). My brother said the only dish that he actually enjoyed was the steak and eggs ( he asked for it to be cooked medium which still looked bloody raw to me but he liked it). The steam bun had braised meat instead of the traditional barbecue pork.
I was looking forward to eating the Hong Kong style French toast but it was more like a peanut butter sandwich. It had a nice crunch but the fruit compote was sour and there wasn’t enough condensed milk drizzle. The toasted peanut crumble was also good but it lacked sweetness so it was less appetizing in larger clumps. But honestly it was the only dish i would repeat.
The spicy dumpling was not spicy but just oily and the smoked pepper flakes just awful tasting.
My sister had eaten dinner in this restaurant and enjoyed her dinner. So it was the brunch menu that didn’t measure up.
The customer service was top notch. Very attentive staff which were quick to refill my glass of water and even folded napkins when someone left their seat for a moment.
The obvious entrance doors are not used and they prefer people use the side entrance through the small patio area. The restrooms are at the end of the bar and they are spacious enough to accommodate wheel chairs. The tile floors were nice and hides stains well so it was pleasant to use the bathroom. It had two mirrors and dressers for you to place Big purses or use as a diaper change table since they didn’t have one set up. An aromatic candle was lit and there was plenty of ventilation and AC ducts to keep the restroom pleasant (very rare detail in most restaurants).
Restaurant is small but ambience was very relaxing. Lighting was soothing despite the bright sunny location. Interior is L shape so it didn’t have too many tables overwhelming the dining experience. There is also creative seating at the kitchen side counters.
If it wasn’t for the flavor profiles in the dim sum (brunch) dishes, I might have forgiven the high prices but it is easily remedied with a re-evaluation by the management and cooking staff.
Everything else was wonderful so they have a chance to improve this point.
