I like my pubs like I like my jazz: old and more hip than a beatnik on a coconut diet.
I really don't know what I was going for with that, but it sounds good and invokes exactly the sort of imagery I'm aiming for.
The Old Shoreditch Station is austere, yet undoubtedly cozy and inviting. Staff is welcoming and friendly. Draught selection is a little slim, but you'll find a small selection of great local craft bottles behind the bar. Cocktails are quite good and won't set you back nearly as much as they will in other local haunts. Coffee and tea are also on offer, but depend entirely on the bar staff/barista. The coffee is sometimes great, sometimes alright, but always does the trick.
While you'll have a great time here with friends, the atmosphere and coziness make for a great date destination. Having a great date? The corner view of a busy intersection offer great opportunities to jointly poke fun at passersby. Should your date take a turn for the worse, well, at least you can handily distract yourself.
Whatever your reasons, if you're looking for a good drink and great atmosphere in Shoreditch, you can't go wrong here.
