We stayed on a Sunday evening, room 31 is gorgeous, beautifully decorated and furnished. The bathroom is very impressive with double showers. Great pillows so wish I’d looked at the make! |We ate in the terrace restaurant early evening and it was very quiet. The service was very good with an accompaniment of a bit of humour! |The food was excellent, we had a very peaceful nights sleep and a great menu choice for breakfast and we enjoyed what we had. |The only slight downside to this elegant hotel is the amount of steps so maybe consider this if it may be an issue.

We been going to the same place for 7 years and I never get bored. Great atmosphere, fantastic music. Great service. Really enjoyable night. Best cocktails

We recently got married here- superb experience from start to finish. Cannot thank the staff enough. Particularly Georgie and Meg for their organisation and constant smiles! Big thanks to Henry the Chef - everyone is still raving about the food! Highly recommend this venue!

I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming. The staff were attentive and helpful, which made everything easy and enjoyable.||A special mention goes to the blond European lady working here I think she is the Manager, who added such warmth to my experience. She was kind, approachable, and had a lovely way of making guests feel comfortable. Small gestures like hers truly make a difference during a stay.||Overall, I would happily recommend this hotel for both its quality and the friendly people who work here. Definitely try few of the gins in the Gin & Juice bar!

I’ve been to this hotel a couple of times before and it’s been significantly extended with the addition of Yoku and the gin and juice bar since my last visit. We had an amazing stay in an outstanding room which genuinely was outstanding with every comfort you could imagine. We were also fortunate that it was in a different building away from the noise of the gin and juice bar. We had a fantastic meal in Yoku and were served by a first rate head of service by the name of Amelyn who is exceptional. She couldn’t have been more helpful with our dietary requirements and knew the menu inside out. She was attentive and responsive and I cannot rate her highly enough for her customer focus. The only drawback was that we, as residents, were not able to get a drink after dinner because the inside bar closed at 10:15 pm, although continued to be inundated with people coming in from the gin and juice bar. Eventually, Amelyn sorted a drink for us which we took to our room as the ambience was getting a bit too lively inside, even though the bar was shut at this point in time. It might be good to consider separating out the gin and juice public from residents later on in the evening and keeping the interior bar open but having the main door only accessed by residents with room keys. Overall, we would definitely stay again, but people need to read the website carefully as booking one of the standard rooms over the gin and juice bar was producing many complaints from people as we were checking out.

Had a lovely late lunch here on Friday 5th December 2025. Weather was absolutely horrendous outside with the wind / rain battering the tents where we were sitted inside. The staff looking after us were lovely, didn't have to wait long for the starters. The 3 course festive meal I had was very nice and my Steak was cooked to perfection. (Very little fat on the piece of steak which I prefer) Although the overall bill was expensive just for 2 people (£96) I didn't mind paying as the food and service was excellent. If you are a non drinker and just want Water make sure you specify tap water as the small bottles of still water they will bring you are VERY expensive!!! Hopefully going forward once the tents / marquee's have been replaced with a proper structure the overall experience eating outside @131 will be a lot better...

Had a fantastic stay here - room was beautiful with such great attention to detail. It felt really luxurious and great value. The service was fantastic too - it felt a really special place to stay and would highly recommend. We also enjoyed drinks in Gin and Juice - beautiful setting.

Held our first office Christmas meal here, shame this restaurant spoilt it for us. Staff clearly untrained and definitely not managed. Starters and mains fairly slow to arrive and clear away, desert menus presented and before we could read through we were rudely asked “are you ordering desserts or not because we need your table in 10 minutes” Nice food spoilt by bad service.

Great venue with a nice crowd! Visited 131 on a Saturday night and had a great time. I only stayed for 1 drink but the service was good and there was lots of space to sit / stand. Cocktails were good and reasonable prices.

The restaurant is beautiful, food was great however the lack of service from our waiter is why I dropped the review from a 5 to a 3. Our waiter would just disappear to where the managers kept coming over and assisting. Fix the wait staff and this place would be amazing.

The waiter (stout guy) spilled oyster water on my bag, no initiative to use soap to clean it. Thinks he's the manager due to his clumsiness. There were only us in the main restaurant and took them almost an hour to get the mains for 3 of us. The flat iron steak was medium and slightly burnt when I asked for medium rare, and to top off the worse, it smells. The sweet potato fries were overfried as a warning for others who don't like crispy fries. Asked the same guy to look into exchanging the bread, he took them off the plate with his hands!! Not a waiter??!! Portions are also small for the price. Avoid like plague. P/s: restaurant gave us some desert and took the drinks off the bill. All good for us.

It would be foolish and rather naive to believe that other UK towns and cities can't compete with uber cool places in London, like Hackney and Shoreditch, and Cheltenham is living proof of that. 131 & Crazy Eights puts me in mind of the Soho House group - well thought out, well executed and never simply a case of style over substance. All strands are cohesive and seemingly effortless. In the past, I've had low expectations from the food in highly styled places like this; and yet, so often lately I am pleasantly surprised. London may be the food capital of the world but there has been a huge rise in the level of cooking coming out of villages and towns for a long time now, with so many chefs realising they can make their mark elsewhere once they've nailed a few tough years under the watchful eyes of their role models . And so many of these places don't simply deliver on the food front, they're throwing money at interior design and creating opulent havens for an ever-growing band of discerning diners. If eating out has replaced clubbing, as we're now frequently told, here you don't have to choose. You can do it all at 131 - sip cocktails in their sexy, dimly lit lounge, wander through to the restaurant for a lovely meal, then nip downstairs for drinks and dancing in the bar, where cool club classics, played by their in-house DJ, will encourage you to burn off calories you've just consumed! We didn't have too many calories to shake off; we chose light dishes like Tuna Tartare, Salmon Sashimi, Mussels and Cod - nothing too remarkable or individual, but all equally delicious. The next morning, our only regret was not eating more. 131 isn't just a great choice for dinner, it's a whole night out. A one-stop shop. A destination hot-spot, or perhaps just a pleasant surprise.

Dined here for the first time recently. We initially were told by the first hostess that there were no tables available that evening. After our persistance, another hostess came over and told us there would be a table available in a 45 minutes. Once our table was ready, we were seated but it took forever for anyone to come over to our table. Our waitress was also acting as hostess, making the wait for everything incredibly long. We had to get her attention to order drinks then food. She was not very friendly nor accommodating. Then, as we were eating dinner, we were told that we needed to eat faster because she was going to have to remove our plates (due to local laws about eating outside after a certain time). It was a coincidence that we were being rushed during our meal, after waiting forever to be served. Overall, no complaints with the food but the poor service was enough to not come back here.

Dreadful service, took two hours for our standard Sunday lunch to come and when it did, it was cold and the potatoes burnt. Very little in the way of apologies from the staff who seemed rushed off their feet. Totally ruined my special birthday meal.
