NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"At No. 79, cocktails top out at $18, and most are in the $15/16 range. We say this, because No. 79 is also a rooftop bar on the Lower East Side, where the drinks don’t typically come cheap. They’ll have some bar snacks and hot dogs, as well." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah, bryan kim

Such a cool little hole in the wall. There is a cute store inside where you can purchase liquor, jar/can goods served with dishes there as well as knickknacks. There is an outdoor bar, fire pit and a dining car to utilize and enjoy. Dog friendly outside.

My family and I stopped in No. 79 for a bite to eat. They had a very nice selection of beer. My husband got the Polish special which he enjoyed. It consisted of kielbasa, sauerkraut and pierogies. I ordered the goulash, which unfortunately was not very warm. All in all I think their food is good and a nice dinner out.

We sat at the bar. Bartender was efficient, accomodating to special request. Just beware, brunch is brunch until 2pm. You can not deviate and ask for a lunch menu. Other than that food came out fast and was fresh and delicious!

Excellent burgers and pierogies. Really good beer selection. I came too late to get the pretzel charcuterie board, so there will be a next time.

Google
I had the Bourban Bacon Jam Burger and it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. The outside area was very beautiful, open and fun with corn hole areas. It had a very unique and artistic decor inside and out of the restaurant, yet had a warm atmosphere with friendly locals. Best of all was the sweet, helpful and accommodating staff. Make sure to ask them for their recommendations.

Pierogis of the month were delicious. Quality service, food, beer selection, and great happy hour specials 4-6pm every day.

Got to stop in to No. 79. The place has a great vibe, inside is cozy and full of people and locals. We sat outside where they had live music another bar and all kinds of games cornhole etc setup. Service was good even though the place was packed. A little bit slow but we were sitting back enjoying new weather music and drinks. Their pierogies are definitely good, a lot of different types with different toppings and such. I had the chicken parm pierogies which were basically their perogies with chicken on top and tomato sauce not bad just not the norm lol. Their regular pierogies were very good as well as their kielbasa. A lot of bar food type options, good beer selection, good cocktails, and all around good time.

Five Stars and One Spiritual Awakening I walked into No.79 expecting dinner. I left a changed man. This isn’t a restaurant. It’s a portal to a meat-and-cheese-based higher dimension. I bit into the Don Carlos Pierogi and swear I saw my childhood, my credit score, and the ghost of my great-grandmother doing the polka. The Truffle Short Rib Fries? Illegal in 37 countries and banned by NASA for being “too powerful.” And the Bavarian pretzel board? Listen. That pretzel didn’t just feed me. It comforted me. It whispered that everything was going to be okay. I would trust that pretzel with my taxes. The drinks? Oh, the drinks. The green tea martini tasted like a bonsai tree fell in love with a supermodel and they opened a spa together. I drank three and briefly spoke fluent dolphin. I don’t know how. Ask the bartender. The vibe inside? Like if Frank Sinatra opened a speakeasy inside a kielbasa-shaped spaceship. There’s soft lighting, happy people, and the distant sound of your responsibilities evaporating. It’s perfect. Let’s talk portions. The entrees are so perfect they legally qualify as emotional support animals. I brought home half my plate and it now pays rent in my fridge. We’re getting close. In short: If you only eat at one place this year, make it No.79. Then come back the next day. And maybe a third time just to emotionally process the first two. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five stars. Two thumbs up. One unbuttoned pants button. A religious experience with aioli.

Yelp
Brought my family here for some Polish-American food. They bill themselves as Polish-Italian fusionbut it's more diverse than that. There are burgers, tacos, and enough vegan options to please my family. Mom loves to eat, so we ordered way too much and had leftovers for days. The space looks like it gets lively on weekends. There's a jukebox (Mom danced). It's your typical NJ bar and grill, but they've spent time making it look nice. The backyard looks like a fun hang. We bought a bottle of wine made for them by a local winery. It was inexpensive and tasted pretty good. I'd buy it again.

Yelp
Finally made it to No. 79 and I am sure glad I did. Came on a Sunday when the place was buzzing with happy folks and live music, and we were able to find a table right away. Great beer and drink selection, and the food was delightful! We enjoyed doing tapas-style sharing and were happy to try many items. Loved the pierogi and the croissant-waffles, especially the chicken & waffle version. Definitely will be coming back, can't wait to try the kielbasa & pierogi soup next time!

Yelp
Run don't walk to this local bar and restaurant. Great service , great food, and great drinks. The green tea martini was delicious. For an appetizer we had a warm Bavarian pretzel served with authentic spicy mustard and beer cheese. The menu consisted of typical bar food and home made Polish classics. My husband had the Polish classic dinner with kielbasa, pierogis, and cabbage salad. He said it was amazing. I had the seasonal special stuffed cabbage which was flavorful with a sweet but not too sweet tomato sauce. The service was great and we even got to sign a book the will be used to paper the walls. We are indoors but they had such a cute outdoor area. I don't know what took us so long to discover this hidden gem but I feel like we will be regular visitors.

Yelp
Everything. Love it! Try every thing great outdoor facility food was super and rrrasonable

Yelp
New brunch menu is creative and fun. Bottomless mimosas are well worth it and the live music on Sundays has been awesome both times I've been there.

Yelp
Only writing an update so soon because it's clearly been hit or miss now. Went recently and I got the falafel bowl and my wife got the chili fries. She really enjoyed the chili fries and the chili itself. The falafel balls that came with my bowl were hard on the outside and too dense on the inside. The rest of the bowls ingredients were very good though. On another recent visit I got the Caesar salad and Bang Bang Shrimp, which I put on top of the salad. I know they state it's modified Caesar salad, I don't really care for tomatoes in it. The rest of the salad was good. The Bang Bang Shrimp was tasty but didn't have any kick that I was hoping for. My wife got the Chili Bowl which tasted like vinegar. Two other people at the table said the same thing and we returned it. The kitchen confirmed that something wasn't right. She got a replacement dish (loaded fries) but then found out that she couldn't have the cheese which was a liquid cheese sauce and not cheddar as indicated on the menu. The server was very good and handled the situation well. Based on the menu limitations for my wife, I'm not sure if we'll be returning soon.

Yelp
Little but trendy place. The food has been consistently good. Chicken can be a replacement to your traditional burger, but the filet has been a little small. Healthy amount of truffle on the short rib fries. My drinks were delicious. Looking forward to sharing this place with others

Yelp
Visited this restaurant on Friday night. I've driven past it a million times and was really excited to give it a try! There was live music on which was excellent. Our server was very friendly. We got a charcuterie board which wasn't our favorite, but the drinks were good. The funnel cake pierogis were definitely the highlight of our night- would highly recommend. They have a cute outdoor section as well which looks like it would be a fun hangout spot in the summer.

Yelp
I went with friends to No.79 Bar, Restaurant and Liquor Store for dinner and drinks and it was a great experience. I had the Coco Jito, and others had the Rum Punch Bucket (which was a bit sweet) and the Jalapeno Margarita. The first two drinks are on the sweet side and the Jalapeno Margarita is spicy-savory. They also have a nice selection of beers and other drinks. We ordered the Bavarian Pretzel, the Bavarian Pretzel Charcuterie Board and the Bang-Bang Shrimp to start - everything was delicious. We then ordered the Mushroom Flatbread, the Polish Classic, Zurek soup, the Wedge Burger, the Pierogi Parmigiana and some other dishes and overall, they were all pretty good - and filling!! The Zurek soup didn't have the typical fermented rye starter ' zakwas żytni', nor the Polish-style white sausage 'biala kielbasa' which left the flavor less than I am used to when I make it at home. There was a great ambiance, service was good and one of the owners stopped by to see how we were doing. She shared with us that there will be a revolving group of about 12 bands that will play live music there and that there are plans for a Speakeasy and other areas to come in future months. Their dog-friendly outdoor area is now newly opened (the No. 70 Outback) so you can bring your leashed fur babies to hang out with you out back - and there is water and treats for them as well. All in all, it was a great night of great food, drink and friends!

Yelp
Polish American fusion cuisine. Great pierogies and kielbasa. Friendly and efficient service every time we've eaten here. This has become one of our favorite local spots. My wife is a chef, and we used to own a restaurant in the area so this is high praise!

Yelp
Amazing time! Great food, service, and vibes overall! I would 100% recommend going to this place, it's important to support local businesses like this that have a new twist on classic dishes plus some new favorites!!

Yelp
Just ate at No. 79 on the WHP near Hammonton. No pictures. We had the wings with sweet heat sauce. Pretty big wings with a nice sticky sauce on them. For dinner we had the crispy Chicken sweet heat sandwich, classic pierogi with bacon and onions and the vegetarian version with onions and mushrooms. For alcoholic drinks we had the Hemingway and cookie butter dream (only available during December). For dessert we had the Bundt cake. He really enjoyed it. Overall a good meal. The pierogi was really good. Very tender and definitely not a frozen one. Some issues were that entrees came right behind the app. The waitress was seen often, but for me just a tad too much. The fires didn't come with ketchup. The pierogi did not come with sour cream. We had to ask for both. The sandwich was not assembled to my husband's liking. The bottom bun was very thin and the top bun was huge. The coleslaw was at the bottom and he thought the chicken should be on the bottom. Wasn't really spicy at all if that's what you are looking for. They have live music which was very good.

Yelp
Came by after one of the local festivals. It was a pretty awful experience overall. The service was very disjointed and negligent. We cleared our own plates and had to constantly be asking for water refills. Our server had to be prompted to take our order. We ordered chicken tenders as an appetizer. After 40 minutes, we asked when our food may come. It appears that it was entered into the system incorrectly. There was no urgency to fix the problem when we made the manager aware - we waited an additional 20 minutes. Our food was ready and apparently they held it while we finished our delayed appetizer. Everything arrived cold or with issues. Flatbread appeared undercooked and not thoughtfully made. Burger was cold, fries were cold. Cheese was burned on another sandwich. What we were most disappointed by is the manager never acknowledged the issues and didn't even apologize for all of the errors. We spent nearly 2 hours there. Our bill ended up being $75 for food that was subpar at best. Felt like highway robbery. Very disappointed and unsure how this establishment has such a high score.

Yelp
Really cool bar, very very clean inside, friendly waitress, very friendly locals, great wings and pirogies, live music, guitar player great songs. Large beer menu with beers from around the world

Yelp
It was a busy Saturday afternoon for No. 79! Pick your own table! Waitress greets you and hands you the coolest menu I've ever seen. A leather fold over journal style with slender pages of specials, seasonal items, and year round items, drinks, and desserts. I ordered the Paloma, it was on point! My friend had the espresso martini. We shared a fry board- it's a pile of perfectly fried French fries with the choice of 4 sauces. Definitely an appetizer for 3-5 people! We each ordered different pierogis. I had traditional, one friend had creamy lemon with shrimp, another ordered short rib pierogis. You can't go wrong with these fresh polish delights!! They have a long large bar, several tables of various sizes and heights. It's a very comfortable casual feel. There's an outdoor area with games, lights, seating! They also have a small market of local wines, and jarred goods. While we were there the electric went out. We were grateful because the music was a tad too loud to be able to have a conversation. We found ourselves having to repeat things or speak very loudly! Nice casual dining option with good food and drinks!

Yelp
If your looking for some awesome polish food this is it! We have been here 3xs and always excellent! If your looking for quick service don't come here. Food is freshly made and takes some time. And it's a smaller place so it takes a bit and they are not overstaffed so things take time! But the food is incredible! We started with 2 different kinds of potato pancakes and the were sooo good! Sorry no pictures as we were hungry. Then we both had the polish classic platter which was delicious!

Yelp
My second time there and they still haven't gotten the wings right. Stop by near the end of the night and order some wings again. Wings are out in less than 15 but look like they were laying around and reheated. Dried out with hardly any sauce on them. Overcooked and overpriced.
google avatar

angela g.

Yelp
I can't say I'm a wing connoisseur but No. 79 has awesome wings! Pictured are their garlic Parmesan wings (with whipped-garlic parm blue cheese) and their Korean BBQ wings. Both are equally delicious. Swipe to see their personal (chicken) nachos. Last but not least, their spicy marg with a spicy rim . Check their insta out to stay on top of their weekly specials! Their service is great! Parking is offered in front of the building, as well as the side. Outside seating is available in the back of the restaurant. The aesthetics of this restaurant are subtle but really cool! Check out the pennies on the wall behind the bar. Look at the news articles on the walls and their swanky-leather-bar menu. There are so many unique subtleties that match their unique twist on traditional dishes.

D C.

Yelp
First time coming to this restaurant. Found it while looking on Apple Maps and decided to try it. The outside looked like so much fun. Wish we had more time to hang out. They had small fire pits lit and there were outside games. Drinks were good. Food was delicious. Wait staff were friendly. Really liked the pierogi. You don't see those on menus too often. Want to come back and try other stuff on the menu!

Yelp
Im looking at a happy hour tent on the bar which is NOT available on Saturday. I'm here on a Saturday.....A SPECIALS sheet that isn't applicable I ordered butternut squash pierogies bartender rings it up it's $15 but the special sheet says $12 so I question it and she says oops that special sheets expired OK I ask is that item still available? No I'm not sure I should even pick anything else because it's just a bunch of misinformation.

Ken S.

Yelp
Not a new restaurant anymore and the service may be the worst I've ever experienced. Didn't get to the food because we didn't even get the drinks we ordered. After several tables (who came in after us) started getting apps and still no drinks, we just left. Hole in the wall, middle of nowhere, travel at your own risk.

Matt B.

Yelp
Awesome place love it my kids beef and beer coming up there so come out and support if you can Cedar Creek girls field hockey

Lorie S.

Yelp
What a charming place. Tavern feel and family friendly. We ordered the Polish Potato Pancakes loaded with cheese, bacon and sour cream on top. Specials tonight are incredible. Flavors for all of your senses. Try their handcrafted Chili! Pierogis galore while music worth listening to is playing. We're at the bar looking at cocktails being concocted and smiles around the conversations. Everyone is having a great time. The service for takeout is on point and servers bringing incredible amounts of food to the happy customers. How nicely decorated it is here. The Aroma amazing. Highly impressed every time we stop in to No 79! Food is comfort here at No 79!

Yelp
A wonderful find. We were hiking in around Harrisonville Lake and we were intrigued by the 5 Stars this restaurant has. Well so worth 5 stars. Service was great. The ambience is a bar with a good feel. We will be back. My Jalapeño Margarita was to die for, amazing. The polish soup was so tasty. My husband's polish cheese steak was so outrageously good.

Yelp
We had a great first experience here. Ambiance, food and tunes were on point. Make sur eyou follow this local artist too bobbywilliamsofficial. His set was the perfect compliment to a Sunday funday.

Yelp
I remember my servers name. It was Marissa. She needs to be more attentive. Service was horrible.

Michael S.

Yelp
We went there with a reservation last night and left never wanting to return. The good: The place is ok for a side of the road greasy spoon type restaurant. The bad: Under no circumstances would I call it polish Italian fusion. Burnt chicken sandwiches, lukewarm warm pierogis, and not the nicest presentation for the price they charge. Drinks were fine. Totally understaffed and service was mediocre at best. We will not be returning. Just go to Joe Italiano's Maplewood down the road. At least you know what you're getting.

Missy N.

Yelp
Food was amazing! We had pirogies with cheese and bacon and they were delicious. Also had the wings with a Korean bbq sauce and seriously the best! 100 % going back!! Service was fantastic too!

Laurie V.

Yelp
Took some visiting friends here for a quick dinner/ burgers. What a disappointment. My burger was so dry, lettuce was limp and 1 thin sliced tomato. I could've made it better at home. I ate half, just to be polite in front of my friends. Appetizer tacos had no flavor at all. Our server was nice, knowledgeable, friendly, but her helper (a young guy), must've been his 1st night, as he knew nothing about service or food. I know it's a bar & restaurant, but The music was so loud, we had little conversation. Probably won't ever go back. *my sister got the veggie burger and it was delicious!

Michael S.

Yelp
Service was not very good, short staffed. Food was burnt, greasy, or pierogis were warm at best. Not worth the price. It's more of a roadside greasy spoon. Maybe good for a burger but we won't be returning to find out.

THomas C.

Yelp
What a great place , the staff is great and the food is not your typical bar menu. I have tried just about everything on the menu and not one bad meal.
google avatar

Tiffany B.

Yelp
Garlic parm wings were amazing ! Bartender / waitress was so attentive and pleasant . Going back for sure

Brian D.

Yelp
I really wish there was an option to give more than 5 stars because this place stands alone. A change of plans landed us at this gem and have been coming back ever since. A warm and inviting atmosphere with an early immigration movement vibe. A super friendly staff, very knowledgeable of their food and drink menus, will keep a smile on your face and conversations flowing along with the gourmet drinks. Need something to go?...Aside from the doggy bag youll surely open back up once you get home, they have a full line of Polish package goods, perishables and snacks. Now onto the food..I am a foodie. Im not into chain restaurants and Id rather support the local small businesses. Every time I am here I say that was the best Ive ever had. The food is unbeatable. Ever changing specials and a menu that includes a Polish/Italian Fusion. We are talking 5 star meals at 2 star prices! Please, please take my word for it and stop in. You will NOT be disappointed

Alexis H.

Yelp
This was our first meal and everything was delicious. Friendly service work a rustic atmosphere!

Amy T.

Yelp
Love the decor!! Food and service is great too!! The pretzel and wings are soooo good! Will definitely go here again and again!!

Yelp
Located on 30 next to Elwood Antiques Great new feel Cocktails are on spot ans lite fair a definite have yet to try dinners but from visual standpoint can't Waite

Daria B.

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious. On the other hand, Our server, Marissa was not attentive. She was serving other tables around us. I watched my drink sit on the bar for a ridiculous amount of time. I asked for another drink & I had to remind her 15mins later for said drink. It sucks because I really enjoyed the food. If you go, get the cauliflower pizza. But definitely don't ask for Marissa.
google avatar

Mike P.

Yelp
Great burger. Cooked perfect. Peirogies were really good as well. But that's where positivity stops. Do not order order a chicken sandwich. They somehow managed to dry out a boneless chicken thigh. At least that's what we think it was supposed to be. Another patron had the same issue. We watched them have the same reaction as us when they tasted it. The worst part of the experience was the ketchup. This place obviously marries their ketchup bottles. Didn't notice it was spoiled and opened it and it exploded all over my shirt, pants, and food. I was able to scrape it off my food to salvage it. Asked for another bottle and luckily I noticed it was spoiled as well before opening it. This is just cutting corners on their part. How much can a bottle of ketchup actually cost?
google avatar

David W.

Yelp
Best Manhattans in the area. Can't wait for tiki season. Out in the weather in South Jersey on a Friday night, this place has good vibes!

Tyler K.

Yelp
I really like the apple slices and the food tastes very fresh and delicious. The service was good, so was the apple slices, I've went there a couple times and I got something different every-time and I loved it all, I really recommend the pierogis!!

James S.

Yelp
It's good bar food. BUT the wait time to get your food is SLOW. Wait staff is very nice. Owners are local.
google avatar

Lindsey C.

Yelp
Amazing staff, super friendly and efficient, great food, fun place to come! We love it here it's our new once a week place to come to! :)

Michael C.

Yelp
First time going there and we were all really impressed. The food and drinks tasted great and the live music outdoors was very entertaining. Prices extremely reasonable. The owner came and sat with us and bought us drinks. This is going to be our go-to spot from now on
google avatar

Jonnie H.

Yelp
This place will make your inner cat MEOW!! Food, service, ambiance is indescribable! Delicious food and this rare creature by the name of Jasmine made our visit truly exceptional. Such a fun spot to visit while vacationing. RUN RUN RUN!!!

Yelp
Great place to hang with friends or just sit at the bar while grabbing a quick bite. Would defiantly recommend.

Jamie C.

Yelp
I cannot express enough how great this restaurant is. Being a small restaurant, they quickly adapted to how to treat their customers with the most respect and care. And above all, there food is AMAZING. 100/10 would recommend this place. Good people, and even better food. As someone who is gluten free, they have the best gluten free menu that I have had so far!! I cannot rave more about how great the staff and the owners have been.
