Ecuadorian Distillery Chawar Is Hosting Alpaca Parties in Austin | Eater Austin

"I'm also seeing a pop-up at South Congress store Noah Marion on Sunday, February 12 from noon to 4 p.m., featuring tastings of Chawar’s miske and an opportunity for attendees to pet the alpacas." - Nadia Chaudhury

After passing by this cute coffee place several times, I decided to pop in when I saw an empty spot in their small parking lot. I was sucked in by their marquee that screamed "Voted Best Coffee in Austin." The coffee was decent enough, but I don't think this is worth going out of your way to try. This is more of an artisan leather goods store than a traditional coffee house. It's set up like a casual store with an espresso machine. Really weird vibe. There's only one small, round, communal table with like 5 chairs. This is not a spot conducive to working. We came in and ordered two cappuccinos (cost: over $11). The tattooed barista was very cold and unwelcoming, and she even made a point to tell us that we weren't petting her dog the correct way. She did give us a cup of treats to give the pup, so that was enjoyable. Good thing, because it took her FOREVER to make our drinks. I was shocked when she said the espresso machine was brand new, then proceeded to whip out a handheld frother (!!) to finish our milk for the cappuccinos. Uh...what? When it was finally ready, at least they were hot and tasty, but also served in paper to-go cups. I felt like she just wanted to get us out of there because she was so bothered by our presence. Since there was no place to sit, we just went back to the car to enjoy our drinks. They also don't have sweetener, so I was glad I had my own Splenda packets in the car. I know Austin is a weird place, but this place is just the strangest. I do not recommend, and I cannot for the life of me understand these glowingly positive reviews

Great leather shop. Custom leather work upon request. All you need is a picture of what you want and they’ll work with you. The sign outside drew me in saying “Voted best coffee shop in Austin”. Honestly the coffee was decent, but the products are what make the store unique. It’s hard to compare with such stellar coffee next door, but definitely worth checking out the quality products that can last you a lifetime.

Cool shop with great coffee. The quality of the stuff here is incredible, including the coffee. Currently there’s a flat cost for all drinks, just fyi.

Loved stopping by here and chatting with them. The coffee was good and so were all the locally-made trinkets and goodies! Super friendly, excellent quality, and extremely homey. I love it! You can see where else we go by following @BloosAdventure on IG 🧸❤️

I did 2 custom orders with them and they did an amazing job. Two of my purses came with crappy, fake leather straps that started peeling a few weeks after I started using them. All I had to do was give them the old straps and the good folks at Noah Marion worked their magic. They matched all the details and even reused my old hardware (since it was still good). Many thanks for the great work!

Google
I wanted to love this place as it has a super cute feel to it, but it seems to be misbranded as a coffee shop. The person attending the shop seemed just as confused as I did when I walked in looking for coffee about a month ago. Though they do have a lonely espresso machine, Work is more of a conglomerated space for a few small businesses and a marketing agency. Would definitely suggest different signage or a separately staffed coffee bar if Work wants to include "coffee" in the name- because sadly it's just not a coffee spot as-is. *edit: Work's Facebook page does actually self-brand as a members-only space with an espresso bar. Not sure this counts as a coffee shop by public Google Maps standards.

DO NOT SHOP AT THIS SHOP! Even one star would be too much. I purchased a ring, which I found very cool and elegant looking. BUT as I discovered later on when I left Austin, where this miserable shop is located, I found out that this ring costs no more than 1 or 2 dollars on TEMU or AliExpress etc. I paid 60$ for this cheap reseller product! The whole shop is a total scam! Please do not spent one cent in this shop. It's a fraud store. They are lying customers in their faces!

Yelp
Saw the sign for best coffee and the place was nothing but disappointment. Cold atmosphere, overpriced leather goods, and I felt I inconvenienced the barista by asking for a latte, which was SO overpriced. No music inside, just an awkward place with cold demeanor.

Yelp
Service wasn't super friendly but the shop is great. Great for a nice gift for yourself or someone else. Full espresso menu. Nice offering of leather products. Minimal aesthetic.

Yelp
I've been wanting to check this place out for ages and just happened to have the time while I was in the area.... and I'm so glad I did!! It's rare to find a place that is clearly focused on quality and artisanship! The products are either handmade locally (many of which in their workshop), or carefully curated. If you're looking for quality products for yourself or meaningful gifts, this is the place to go. I want everything they have! Definitely check out the custom belts and hats, and their heirloom quality leather goods. They also have a curated collection of specialty items then collect on their travels.

Yelp
Stopped in on our way back from CVS and wanted to check out this unusual and eclectic shop that serves coffee, leather goods, soaps and other interesting things that are laid out in a simple way that doesn't overwhelm. I wound up getting an iced latte with oat milk (delicious) and my wife got an iced americano which she liked as well. Both drinks were only $4 ea. We enjoyed talking with Stacy who served us and we sat in the seats by the window in front. Stacy is a young woman who was so sweet!

Yelp
I have purchased various items from Noah online but never got the chance to visit his shop. I followed the build of this shop online via Instagram and was super excited to finally be in town long enough to pay a visit. If you want quality, handmade leather goods that will eventually become a family heirloom, YOU NEED TO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT. I bought 2 dog collars, a passport wallet, and a molded tray all in natural leather. Need to find a gift for him or her? This is your place. Everything from luxurious all leather bags to leather coasters; Noah has you covered.

Yelp
Found this wonderful place while visiting Austin on our anniversary. You don't often find wonderful Made in the USA quality leather work like this just any where. My wife found a small gray full leather wallet that she absolutely loved! Noah said he had a clutch that was the exact match of leather but had yet to be made. We told him we would gladly buy and he could ship it to us! We turned around to continue shopping and he says "I changed my mind I will make it right now!" We watched his amazing handy work right if front of our eyes from start to finish in the making of the clutch! Thank you for the wonderful one of a kind experience and a small anniversary gift that will last my wife a lifetime!
