Yelp
Awesome reliable spot for some good BBQ. I got the chicken quesadillas, the platter with a choice of 2 meats (brisket, ribs), 2 sides (baked potato, brisket mac n cheese), and 2 sauces (maple, chilli), and the pork belly burnt ends.
The chicken quesadillas were great, plethora of chicken and cheese, topped with chopped green onion. The taste leans into its American pallet (think burgers, fourth of July realness, less Mexican) and manages to do it well without tasting lazy. I'd recommend this if you're not necessarily looking for authenticity, but more for a good, flavorful and hearty lunch.
The pork belly burnt ends were quite disappointing. While I realize the name had "burnt ends", I didn't realize they would cook it to the point where the meat had an essentially rubbery texture, yet somehow gaining hardness in some areas where it attacks your gums. The flavor was the saving grace, very savory, and some leftover fat on the meat counteracts the dryness of the overall dish. If you're into the texture, I recommend pairing it with the chili sauce they offer on their menu, but note that the sauce is quite spicy.
The platter was the main event of the whole thing. The brisket was nice and tender, yet not soggy. The sauce on top was classic BBQ, but will pair well with other sauces if need-be. The ribs were delicious, falling off the bone delicately, followed by a deep, rich flavor that only comes with a minimum length of time in cooking. The brisket mac and cheese was not heavy, but skims mildly on the cheese, relying more on the brisket for taste.
Service was very polite, and the food arrived within 25 minutes, with absolutely no rush to order. The place had a very by-the-beach vibes in decoration, complimented with large, surrounding windows, with quiet old country music in the background.
