20 Best Things to Do in Bangkok

"A high-profile 60th-floor rooftop destination popular with socialites who want to see and be seen while taking in panoramic city views; like most skyscraper bars here, it carries a premium on drinks for the dramatic setting." - Katie Jackson Katie Jackson Katie Jackson is a New York City-based writer who covers travel, food, and more. The Lounge at Nobu Hotel London Portman Square - Review - Marylebone - London - The Infatuation

"When we heard that Marylebone’s Nobu Hotel served a Japanese-inspired afternoon tea, our minds ran wild with tuna-topped crispy rice and tiny salmon tacos that would outshine regular finger sandwiches. Unfortunately, the five-star hotel’s take on afternoon tea is more like the reject section of a menu. Wagyu sliders are cold and bland, while the chicken kara-age is just fine. ‘Cup sushi’ takes what was already a foolproof finger food (nigiri) and turns it into something you need to awkwardly scoop out with a fork while losing half the rice in the process. The scones are small and dense, and the desserts, while stunning, are hit and miss. We’re fans of the apricot and tonka bean macaron, but things like sencha, peppermint, and basil cake lean more toothpaste than sweet treat. The lounge is laid-back, with comfortable sofas and people on laptops next to tables of hotel guests digging into burgers. You’re better off heading to the main restaurant than signing up for the mediocre afternoon tea, especially because there are way better options in London for the same price or less." - Rianne Shlebak

Top quality service and a perfect old fashioned. Not too sweet, single block of ice and served with a smile. Comfortable seating for both small and large groups.

What a delightful Sakura Afternoon Tea at Nobu London Portman Square! My afternoon was filled with the spirit of Hanami, the Japanese tradition of appreciating cherry blossoms. The savory selection was a delight, featuring Nobu favorites like the Crispy Rice, a refined Smoked Salmon Nobu Club, and the fresh Black Cod Butter Lettuce. My personal favorite was the Smoked Salmon Nobu Club, perfectly paired with the Smoked Sakura Wood Tea. For a sweet finish, the Sudachi & Sakura Blossom Mousse was a true masterpiece, capturing the beauty and fleeting nature of Sakura. This dessert was complemented perfectly by the Sakura-inspired teas, particularly the Sakura Sencha Obubu, a fragrant Sencha green tea with notes of Sakura blossoms and almonds.

Incredibly disappointing for the price - do not waste your money! We came for the afternoon tea set menu, with sweet and savoury options. The savoury set was essentially just fried chicken sliders, smoked salmon sandwiches and some of the nobu ‘classics’ such as the miso cod and crispy rice. There were 2 pieces of sushi per person and the quality and taste was below average what you can find in Central London. The only notable dish was the lettuce wrapped miso cod, but there was so little of it I might as well have been eating air. Desserts were also a massive disappointment - the vanilla cake with guava was so dry, and there was no guava flavour. The mocha was dry and ROCK HARD! All the patisserie was forgettable apart from the scones, which were the only redeeming feature. Service was slow. We were told we had 2 hours for our table and the desserts didn’t arrive at our table until 15 minutes before we had to leave!

Service by Sam was exceptional, very welcoming and knowledgable. A Japanese twist on classic afternoon tea - really tasty and unique. Only negative was the condiments for the scones weren’t in our takeaway box.

Lorenzo was super knowledgeable about all the cocktails and menu items. A nice spot to rest your legs after a shopping day. The classic Nobu menu with some London specials and a special cocktail list. Def stopover if you’re in the area.

My husband and I visited yesterday to have a celebratory glass of champagne and enjoy the rare occasion one can enjoy the sun on an outdoor terrace in London. Hugely disappointed, especially after friends recommended the new location. Our server was not only cold and unfriendly (not that I’m expecting a friend), she made us feel that she was annoyed with us and we were inconveniencing her in some way. It felt borderline rude. I ordered a glass of champagne and my husband a beer. She tried to offer me a rose champagne double the price point despite my specific order (no advice sought). When she brought our drinks she just walked up put them on the table and dumped half of my husbands beer in a glass so it foamed right to the top. A far cry from how a beer should be poured. He couldn’t drink it for ages and when he did it was a bubbly frothy mess. A 2-star pub would know better. Snacks were fine. Below the standard I would expect. Don’t bother - many better options within a ten minute walk.

In 1 word... Underwhelming. From them struggling to find our booking at the door - to small uncomfortable seats - to underwhelming decor - to extremely poor cocktails and poor service. We left after a couple of drinks to find better options which other reviews have echoed. The Nobu name deserves better.

The bar itself didn't feel anything special, especially for a 5-star hotel. The cocktails were expensive, as expected, but I was quite disappointed that the drinks were served without any nibbles. For that kind of price, most hotels would have provided olives, mixed nuts, etc. but there was absolutely nothing. There was not even a napkin to wipe my hands from touching the sticky cocktail glass which was covered in plum salt. When we asked if there were any nibbles that came with the drinks, the staff looked at us as if we were from another planet. The drinks menu was fancy but the way they were served was anything but.
