I chose Nobu for a family dinner during our trip to Budapest. The restaurant is located inside the Kempinski Hotel and has a Michelin star, so we were excited to try it.
In terms of ambiance and service, everything was spot on — the space is beautiful and the staff were attentive and professional throughout the evening.
However, when it came to the food, I was a bit underwhelmed. As someone from Asia who has had sushi in Japan and countries known for fresh seafood, the sushi here just didn’t meet my expectations. It was more of a quick fix to satisfy my craving for Asian food than something I’d come back for.
The other dishes — fish, scallops, and beef — were all just okay, nothing memorable. I had hoped for more, especially from a Michelin-starred restaurant. Considering the high price point, I was expecting fresher, more flavorful food.
All in all, it was a nice experience, but not one I’d recommend purely for the food.
