Whenever my family and I travel to the Bahamas, we always stay at Atlantis on Paradise Island—and we always make a point to dine at Nobu for their incredible sushi and world-class chefs.
On our most recent visit, July 26th, 2025, we were celebrating my son’s 20th birthday. Since he loves Nobu, we chose it for his special dinner and let the staff know in advance that it was his birthday. I asked if they do anything special for such occasions, and they mentioned they could bring out a dessert at the end of the meal.
After finishing dinner—which cost over $900 USD for four of us—we asked about the dessert, only to be told that yes, they could bring one, but it would be at our cost. Really? After such a high-end experience, I found it disappointing that something as small as a complimentary dessert wasn’t offered as a simple gesture to mark the occasion.
We’ve dined at many fine restaurants around the world—one example being The London by Gordon Ramsay in New York City—where they went above and beyond to make us feel appreciated for choosing them on a special day.
Nobu, it’s time to step it up. A small, thoughtful touch like a complimentary dessert or birthday acknowledgment wouldn’t break the bank, and it would go a long way in creating memorable experiences for your guests.
