A 200 year old unagi shop located in the basement of an unassuming business building. Very yummy.

This is a branch of one of the oldest unagi restaurants. When you arrive, be sure to ask if they have "natural" eel, which is wild eel. It's a little pricey, but worth it as it's incredibly soft and tasty. The staff are very friendly, and the service is quick.

What an amazing experience for some reasonable priced grilled eel. I went with the set deal that comes with a few things before the actual eel rice bowl. Friendly staff that serves my family. Thoroughly enjoy this and would recommend people to come here.

Google
A proper Unagi don place located in Ginza! The ladies were very professional and helpful☺️ The place is a bit hard to find as it's located in the basement of a building (you have to enter the building and go downstairs). But it's worth it!

Nodaiwa Ginza offers an exquisite dining experience tucked away in the basement of the building. The waitresses are polite, attentive, and even proficient in English. A notable plus is the availability of an English menu, making it easy for non-Japanese speakers. The eel is exceptionally fragrant, and the broth in the mabushi set is a must-try—its rich flavor allows the true essence of the eel to shine through. A delightful culinary gem in the heart of Ginza! Bonus: Their chopstick stand is an eel.

My mom’s must eat unagi in Tokyo. I would like to recommend this unagi place to everyone to try. It’s located at underground next to sushi Jiro in Ginza. I had the kabayaki course 蒲焼 For my personal preference I feel unagi on rice will be a better option. When you have a bite of the unagi with rice and the sauce will bring the best out of the fish. Super tasty. If you are in Ginza, I would recommend you to try this place out.

I am not a huge fan of unagi, but this place got me to really enjoy it! The staff taught us very new way of eating it: with wasabi and salt! The starter was amazing, too! Never thought unagi could have so many flavours to it by cooking it differently. A pricey place, mind you!

I was used to the original Nodaiwa in Higashiasabu and went to the Ginza annex. The location is a bit gloomy in the basement corridors of the metro station, but the unaju and menus are top notch.

Yelp
3.5 / 5.0 - I love the original Nodaiwa in Azabu Iikura, so I was looking forward to this visit. This Nodaiwa is conveniently located inside a building adjacent to Ginza Station. However, for both the atmosphere and service, I'd recommend the original location. This restaurant is in the basement of the building, so it has a darker feel, without windows facing outside. But we had spacious seating, so it wasn't a deal-breaker. However, the service was quite disappointing--they never came by to check in on us or even looked over, even though they were standing by empty tables right nearby. So we had to call out loudly to ask for tea refills. I hope the service quality improves, because the unagi (eel) was good and it is in an ideal location.

Yelp
I was recommended this place by a friend and really wanted to try it. It's one-star Michelin and one of the oldest unagi don (unaju) restaurants in Tokyo. The Ginza location is right next to Sukiyabashi Jiro, so you can see the site of the legendary Jiro Ono while you wait on line for Nodaiwa. There are 5 sizes of unaju. I had the medium (c) option which was plenty. If you're visiting Japan, I'm assuming you want to try as much food as possible. The smaller sizes are filling enough and the unagi itself tastes great. You can tell they put a lot of time into the preparation. The flavors are very subtle but you can add more sauce if you ask. Definitely visit!

Yelp
I love Unagi with a passion. I mean not the one that serves in AYCE places in Toronto but a perfectly prepared eel. During my short stay in Tokyo, I almost want to go the Nodaiwa Original location which has been in business for 5 generation over 200 years and the only thing they serves is Unagi. The natural wild eel I would never have a chance to taste in Toronto or that special soy sauce that they have perfected for 5 generations? Sadly with my limited time in the area, I ended up going to Nodaiwa Ginza location 五代目 野田岩 銀座 which is right across from the famed Sukiyabashi Jiro. (At least now I know where to find Jiro when I saved enough money!) It was a hot day.. September in Tokyo feels like summer but eating Kabayaki supposed to good for my health according to Wiki? From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kabayaki Kabayaki (蒲焼) is a preparation of fish, deboned, butterflied, cut into square fillets, skewered, dipped in a sweet soy sauce-base sauce before being broiled on a grill. Kabayaki eel is very popular and a rich source of vitamins A and E, and Omega-3 fatty acids. A popular custom from the Edo period calls for eating kabayaki during the summer to gain stamina. Unadon (鰻丼) an abbreviation for unagi + donburi, lit. "eel bowl") is a dish originating in Japan. It consists of a donburi type large bowl filled with steamed white rice, and topped with fillets of eel (unagi) grilled in a style known as kabayaki, Nice ladies in kimono greeted me and cool me off by a cold towel. I acted like a tourist looking at the photos of menu. What should I eat? Point Point to 野田岩風まぶし御膳 Nodaiwa Style Hitumabushi Gozen (3700 Yen) with photos and instructions of how to enjoy with the dashi broth. Matcha Green Tea here was so good. I now know I have to get the higher grade tea to bring home. The meal ended with a roasted tea which was just as good. The unagi here probably the best I have to date: texture, mouth feel, balanced soy sauce and I even enjoyed eating the skin! (FYI: I have not have any unagi since I came home) Top notch service and memorable experience. I will be back to Nodaiwa for more next time.

Yelp
Frankly speaking I know this is not the best season to eat eel since there is no fresh wild ones. But I think the general experience does not worth the name. If given another chance, I would rather go to their original restaurant or other top notch unagi don restaurant in Kyoto.

Yelp
I finally found this place, accidentally stumbled upon it while walking around ginza district. i remember trying so hard following google maps last time but kept missing it. this time, without looking, i found it! its a miracle. this place specializes in eel. all they have are eel. eel coursed meal, eel over rice, grilled eel. i got their popular, standard item, grilled eel over rice with side of grated daikon. eel was meaty and delicious. maybe my own preference, but i would like it a little more crispy and charred. rice was warm and soaked up all of the flakey eel and sauce. it was such a comfortable box of rice and eel. the grated daikon mellowed it down a little and adds freshness. service was so cute by these elder ladies in kimono. they are nice and one of them speaks english pretty well. nice place specializing in eel dishes and does them well.

Yelp
We ordered natural eel which was good (and it's not the same as the fatty ones out there). Overall the food itself was worth the money although it didn't wow us. I felt that service could have been better, compared to other Michelin star places.

Yelp
Like this place! On my top 5 Unagi place. It's in the station and next to the famous sushi place, jiro. I went here w coworker. It is pricy but worthwhile. So authentic and great taste.

Yelp
natural unagi was delicious - the only reason for a missing star is my wife sorta got a thin tail part for her 鰻重
