It's great if a chef is ambitious, but one should never forget that elevated cuisine is not only about the food. The higher the level, the more the package counts – ambience of the place, food presentation, service. The food at Noelia is good, no question. The rest: not so. We went for lunch and were surrounded by thoroughly uninterested and uncoordinated staff. In the course of the meal we were served by at last 4 different people, with none showing any engagement. Overall the atmosphere was not relaxed – one can tell if staff in the kitchen (that one can largely see into) and waiting staff are relaxed, and here everyone seemed tense – the chef, Noélia Jerónimo, was in the kitchen. Not clear how she leads the crew, but the result was not nice.
Next to us a couple with a baby was eating, and the floor showed it afterwards. Later the table was then freshly decked, and no one bothered to clean the floor – I would not have liked to be seated at that table.
Service needs a major overhaul at Noélia. Overall a disappointing lunch. I don’t think we will return.
