The Best Restaurants in Portland’s Beaumont-Wilshire Neighborhood | Eater Portland

"For three decades, Noho’s has been introducing mainlanders here in Oregon to Hawaiian favorites like tender slow-cooked kalua pork and tangy mac salad, alongside an expansive pan-Pacific menu including teriyaki and Korean fried chicken. Noho’s original Clinton street location is no more, but the Fremont outpost’s back patio is one of the loveliest in Portland. On days when the weather is less tropical, the surfboard-adorned indoor dining room is spacious. Noho’s drinks menu is highlighted by two Hawaiian brews, a Hawaiian white wine, and a rum-heavy cocktail list." - Nathan Williams

12 Hawaiian Restaurants To Try in Portland | Eater Portland

"Portland respects its elders: Noho’s is one of the longest-standing Portland Hawaiian restaurants (the now-shuttered Clinton Street location was established in 1994). The menu is more wide-ranging than others, from grilled Korean-cut ribs available in multiple guises (the sweet-hot version is the move) to teriyaki chicken. If the traditional white rice and mac salad feels like too much, Noho’s offers large appetizer portions of most meats a la carte. Online ordering is available for takeout." - Jenni Moore

We are so happy we chose Noho's to cater our wedding! The food was incredible and we had so many compliments from our guests. The staff onsite were so kind and attentive, making sure everything looked perfect and that catering service was moving along smoothly. We had plenty of food for our guest count, and even got to take leftovers home at the end of the night! Working with Andrew was such a smooth and easy experience! He was so communicative and helpful in all of the details of our planning process. He helped us pick our menu and even organized for us to do a tasting at the restaurant (and it was delicious!). He was so helpful on the day of our event, working with our vendors, keeping the appetizer station and buffet replenished and looking good, and even plating up dinner for us as bride and groom (which was very much appreciated!). We highly recommend Noho's catering for your wedding or event!

As soon as walked in I was greeted with the most beautiful smile and charisma that it made me feel like I was in a safe place. I was walked in to my table , I was asked if I being here before and I said “No”. Therefore , Allison , was kind enough to walk me through everything , showed me the menu and recommended me what to get. All the food she recommend sold me and I got a little bit of everything. Girl knows how to seeeellll. Thank you NoHo for having her and providing me with great hospitality and staff. One more thing , give this girl a RAISEEEE !!!!! That’s a super star in the making :)

Google
This place is legit! Reminds us of Hawaii. The meats (beef & chicken) were tender & tasty on the sweet side. The rice cooked perfectly. The mac salad on point. The calamari was so so good. Add the sriracha & teriyaki sauce to the served tartar sauce. Portions were huge, we had 1 full box leftovers even with 1 small & 1 regular orders. Service was welcoming & prompt. Indoor & outdoor dining areas. Interior decor of surf boards is very appropriate. Definitely 2 thumbs up.

Great portions and very flavorful food. I loved it 10/10.

Google
I came around 5:45-6ish pm I ordered a custom combination plate for me my husband and daughter Korean short rib , teriyaki chicken 3 rice 2 Mac … first and foremost the customer service is great but I’m not sure if there is a new cook or chef because every time I come to no hos which is frequent coming from Hawaii this is the closest thing to home so today was very dissatisfying all my meats tasted like someone just poured a whole bottle of garlic on it to the point I couldn’t even taste the meat because the garlic taste was SOOOO OVER POWERING 🧄 I called to ask maybe if I got the wrong order cause I’ve never had this garlic meat and they had no solution to the problem except for “sorry about that” not even a remake or a discount or anything I would have preferred a remake considering now I’ve wasted money and my child won’t even eat it … it will be along time before I re visit no hos after today I am traumatized 😳😳😳

Everything was authentic, tasty, and beautiful. LOCO MOCO was my go to. The patties were huge! I mean huge! Rice was perfectly done. But folks if you eat nothing else order the PASTA SALAD!!!! Please follow if you agree. Thank you

Google
Great service and seated our table of 10 on the outdoor patio on a lovely Memorial Day with no reservations made. Had to pull tables together but had no issue with accommodating our party. Outstanding food, service, and spirit. Definitely a place to take groups and outstanding fairly priced food with excellent portions.

Yelp
Noho's Hawaiian is my to go comfort food spot for when I have a craving for Hawaiian food! Not sure how I found this spot but been going here since like 2018 and the food remains as good as ever. My to go order will always be the Mochiko chicken and the Korean mixed plate I do switch up my order here and there sometimesss. Inside is such a vibe with Hawaiian music in the back ground and all the surf boards they have as decor. Staff are friendly and I enjoy eating here in the summer since they have an open patio in the back. Food doesn't take long to come out and taste good every time, their portion is big so I always have left over to bring home. Will continue to come back!

Yelp
First timer here at this cafe...place is clean and we decided to sit in the back out door patio. Nice and clean with lots of room for big group. We were a group of six. It was a nice sunny day so we had to pop up the umbrella...great shade. Service was great. She was very helpful with menu suggestions that none of us picked a usual loco moco when in a Hawaiian restaurant. We ordered a lot of good stuff: Mochiko Chicken, Mixed Plate, Teriyaki Steak sandwich and more. All dishes were very flavorful and large portions. When in the area you must give this place a try.

Yelp
THE BEST HAWAIIAN FOOD. Portions are unbelievable huge! Service was on point my drink was never empty.

Yelp
This has been my go to spot for Hawaiian food for years now! They are always consistent with the meats. My favorite is the Korean Short Ribs. The ribs are so flavorful and juicy. The portions are great for the price. I'm not a big fan of mac salad, but this place does it right.

Yelp
if I feel low in energy, I like eating Here. lots of sugar. It's good but not the healthiest. if you're avid returning customer, I guarantee you're overweight. #foryourhealth

Yelp
The chicken katsu was a classic and very well done. The sauce matched very well with the crispiness of the chicken! 10/10. Where i was disappointed was the kaula pork sliders. The meat came separately from the build of the sandwich so when I went to go eat I was surprised that there was tomato added in. In my opinion tomato and kaula pork should never be paired together..... i would recommend that they add the ingredients on the menu for the sliders so that it can at least be taken off. Service was nice! They were busy and slightly understaffed so make sure you show your appreciation. I got my food to-go as it is extremely hot in portland right now but it looks like a very cute place to eat out

Yelp
You are not going to find better Hawaiian style bbq anywhere in the PNW. Noho's is by far the best and comes highly recommended by The Hungry Hardhat. I got the Grilled chicken teriyaki with rice and mac salad which was probably the best I've had and the service was just as good. Yelpers and fellow foodies do yourself a favor and make it point to drop by this weekend and give Noho's a try... trust me you won't be disappointed. So let it be written... So let it be EATEN.

Yelp
Wow this place was fire! We stumbled upon this spot when walking around. I love how there's so much seating! Their portions are huge that we brought leftovers home. staff is friendly. Their marinades are amazing. I highly recommend one of your dishes to be the mixed plate.

Yelp
Was in the area when a craving for Loco Moco hits and our usual Hawaiian spot was closed on the day so we decided to check this place out but unfortunately their version is nothing but mediocre... The beef patty was so tough and bland. It's clearly a frozen patty sold for hamburger, didn't even bother to make their own like some other reviews have pointed out. The egg was also over done, not runny like it should be. Mac salad, rice, and brown sauce were meh, meh, and meh. Really should have listened to the reviews but it's hard to fight against your craving...Their chicken plates may have been a better option. We also got the Spicy Poke which was fine. Salty and pricey but it did taste like something and the fish was fresh. Staffs and the inside were great though, feel bad for having to leave a not so great review but their food was really not worth it.

Yelp
I love the containers they use for the small portion entrees. For each entree, there is the option for small, medium, large - each with a different price. Prices are very reasonable. The sweet sauce is very good. The macaroni was good. I ordered the sweet ribs (Korean beef ribs) and kalua pork. The sweet rib was very tough and hence hard to eat. A big part of this went to waste since it was too tough to eat. The pork was dry. I'm disappointed and hopefully they will get back to Zagat rated levels as they were back in the 2010s.
google avatar

Nick D.

Yelp
It's an absolute classic. Larger location than it looks, full bar, fair prices for large servings of great Hawaiian food.

Yelp
We're here trying out this Hawaiian spot. As we were looking through the menu it takes us back to our time in Maui. I'm looking for some familiar food. Started things off with a couple of POGs (passion, orange and guava) juice. Perfectly sweetened and authentic as possible. For our entrees we enjoyed the Kimos sweet ribs that was in a sweet Polynesian sauce and it was yummy. The Korean ribs were tasty as well but not as garlic forward as we had hoped for. I will say the meat was on the fatty side and somewhat challenging to chew but still a great flavor. The meal comes with rice and macaroni salad. The hospitality of our server was awesome. She was very attentive to us and even allowed me to sample the POG juice to make sure I liked the taste. We'll definitely return and try something else on the menu.

Yelp
Really good food. Service definitely wasn't typical Hawaiian . Lady was in a rush for everything and seemed short in her mood. Prices not too bad. We are in town for a couple days and I was super excited to see this option for dinner as I have missed Hawaii so much since we had to move back to the mainland last year. We dint have anything like this in our area of NC. I had the flavorful teriyaki steak and hubby got Hawaiian style poke.... Had pork spring rolls for app. Would definitely go back if in the area again.

Yelp
We were big fans of Nohos when we lived in southern Oregon. When friends knew we were heading there, they would place their orders with us to grab while we were there. I was a little nervous about going to a new Nohos location and that my memories would be shattered. ---THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT-- We ordered the Kalua Pork and Teriyaki Chicken, both medium sized. We placed our order online which was quick and easy. I even received a text when it was ready! This place is amazing! Huge portions! Great food! I got all the great food I had previously received in Medford!
google avatar

Rom P.

Yelp
Warning! Don't come here not hungry! The food is great and they do come large servings. I had ordered the "Blalah" serving of the Pork Mixed Plate (Kalua pork and teriyaki pork). It came with mac and rice and it hit the spot as we just ran a few miles a few hours ago. The menu is extensive and the staff is very friendly. I think that you can't go wrong ordering anything off the menu. I was so full that I went into a coma, food coma that is. If you are familiar with Hawaiian food you would know what I mean. It was very satisfying and I had some left over for breakfast. The pork was cooked well that there are no complaints coming from me. I would try the poke the next time we are in Portland. Overall it's a might fine place to satisfy your hunger.

Yelp
I have eaten at Noho's in Corvallis. This one is even better. The atmosphere gives off that Hawaiian vibe and I loved the island music.

Erin B.

Yelp
Took ages for them to take our order. When we gave them our IDs (not fake) they didn't believe that they were valid and kept taking them away from us. They then told us that it was fine, and brought one of the drinks out. They then told us they couldn't serve one of us, and later came out to take the drink they had already supplied. Customer service during this interaction was awful. Interior of the restaurant is bright and off-putting with assorted decor. Food was just fine, not worth the price.

Yelp
We went to Noho's after a 20ish year hiatus when they used to be over in SE Clinton. The food is still just as authentic and delicious as it used be. I hear they have a large patio and can't wait to try it out this summer. I also hear that Noho himself is there during the summer. He was a client of mine at Bank of America and we would have the food catered on occasion. Can't wait to say hello to him. Highly recommend all the food. The portions are big so come hungry. The dining room can be a bit loud as the sounds bounce all around off the hard surfaces. Hard to converse when they are full. Mahalo

Yelp
The food is amazing and so are the people and their Aloha spirit! Kalua Pig is on point and the chicken I could eat every day!
google avatar

Nyssa R.

Yelp
I usually don't review restaurants here on Yelp, but this spot was amazing. I couldn't decide what I wanted to eat, and after over an HOUR of looking through my maps, I found this spot. I drove about 15 min here, and when I came in I was greeted by a lovely lady in the front! She asked if I had a pickup order, and I told her I was actually gonna be ordering to-go. She handed me a menu, and was very helpful with any questions. Also gave me a drink while I waited. I ordered the Spicy Teriyaki Chicken - smallest plate, orange mango juice, and a side of Kim Chee. The portions are HUGE, prices are affordable and it tastes amazing. Plate comes with a scoop of mac salad & a scoop of rice. both which tasted amazing. chicken was good as well, and Kim Chee was spot on. I will definitely be returning to dine-in with my partner, and I definitely recommend. 10/10 ! (sorry didn't get photos)

Yelp
if you eat on patio in the summer with the Hawaii. musician you can get an amazing dinner with a 1$ off cocktail and a lot if tiki torches and coconut cake with enough delicious food for 2 days The next day you can relieve your trip to Hawaii for only 32$ I will try to add photos you owe yourself this staycation

Yelp
Visiting from Utah and wanted Hawaiian for dinner. Our first time to Noho's Hawaiian Cafe was a great experience. The staff were very friendly. The food was amazing and the portion size was definitely worth the price! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Outstanding service outstanding food. Edgar was one of the best servers we ever had he needs a raise and or a bonus immediately!!!

Yelp
What a bummer. I have been going to this place for years. It's a short walk from my house. On my most recent visit, I walked down with my kids in a storm after placing an order online and getting a text it was ready. The owner was chatting up some lady so I waited for him to stop and his demeanor changed when he looked at me (I just got back from the gym and I was wearing rain gear but I SWEAR I'm not looking too disheveled! All I can think of is that I looked bad? I don't know!). I was like "I'm here to pick up an order for Dean". He acted slightly weird and confirmed my last name even though I had the first name right. Then asked me "phone or online" and I told him online (even though there was LITERALLY one to-go order and I had confirmed my first and last name). It was weird but I didn't think too much of it. He gives me more stink-eye and I, in a flash of extreme stupidity, think he's having a bad day. So, when I'm signing my check I decided to give him an extra tip even though I had tipped when I paid online. At this point he says "they with you?" and glares at my kids and that's when I realized: he is an a-hole and thinks my kids and I are up to something untoward. So, I say "yeah they're mine!" and I walked out with my mediocre food feeling terrible. Like - did I do something that made me seem like a criminal? I can't fathom what it was. I will be fair about the food. It's a 3/5; not great, not terrible, ridiculous portions. The decor is also pretty good. It's too bad the owner is a complete jerk. I can almost see this place from my house and I'll not be going back.

D L.

Yelp
Brisket is great w the sweet sauce. Even small portion was enough for two people. Prices $15-$20 seems right. Nice people.
google avatar

Tobi S.

Yelp
I'm absolutely in love with this place I swear I could do the back stroke in the Mac salad! Omg! It's so delicious! The teriyaki chicken is amazing! The flavor is spot on! I love the rice nothing is missing. The weather is perfect for sitting outside with a nice drink ( iced tea) for me The service is always fabulous, you're treated just like family. You definitely want to go back! And you want to get MAC salad to go Have a fantastic day thank you for the delicious food and wonderful service.
google avatar

Sophia L.

Yelp
Huge portions and delicious food. I went with my partner, and we decided to get a traditional plate (we got the Korean mixed plate) and the yakisoba and split them both. The yakisoba was possibly the best I've ever had in Portland, and the chicken was incredibly juicy. We sat outside, and it was super cute- plenty of shade while still getting to enjoy the sunshine. The whole patio was also very well decorated and themed well. The service was a little bit slow, as after we finished we had to wait another 20 minutes to get boxes or the bill despite the waitress walking around to other tables multiple times and our plates getting cleared in the interim. Regardless, I would definitely return, as the food was so good that it didn't matter very much at the end of the day.
google avatar

Yelp
My review has to do with communication in trying to have Noho's to to cater a private event for our ohana next year. I spoke to Andrew once. He seemed to be a very nice guy. He's from Hawaii. I'm from Hawaii. I followed up with email and phone calls over several days and weeks. Noho's was recommended by a friend of a friend. I did receive a voicemail message several weeks later. The only part that I could hear was his name, Andrew. Nothing else was understandable in the lengthy message. It was garbled. I called him back and left a message that I couldn't understand his message. I even followed up with an email. And again... nothing. If you're dining at Noho's, I'm sure the food is delicious. I have heard this from others. But if you're trying to book Noho's as your caterer, perhaps you will have better luck than I did. I have hired another caterer. Excellent recommendations. VERY responsive. Tina from Truck to Table was willing to work with me from Day One. Found her on Thumbtack. They also provide AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander), and other, culinary delights.
google avatar

Tricia S.

Yelp
Finally made my way back to Noho's and it hit the spot this time! Made an online order for takeout - super easy process. Everything was ready right on time! Mochiko chicken - juicy chicken bites with a slightly sweet breading. Just like I remember from childhood! Mac salad was creamy and had lots of flavor. They add celery or onions (or both) and I'm not a fan, but that's just me. Kalua pig egg roll appetizers were perfect! Crispy outside with lots of meat inside. Paired well with the sweet chili sauce that came with it.
google avatar

Rebecca P.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in Portland! Friendly staff, quick service and my favorite dish the spicy Korean chicken is always consistent. The vibes are immaculate.
google avatar

Euseb B.

Yelp
Noho's has the best moco loco outside of Hawaii. I came here when I was in town on a business trip. Someone at my hotel recommended I come to Noho's Hawaiian Cafe. I fell in love with their loco moco. The gravy was epic!! The cafe was nice and spacious. The staff was nice and friendly. Food came out quickly, which was nice. I can't wait to come back!

Barb K.

Yelp
Delicious Hawaiian fare plus good serving amounts. The kalbi was tasty and the chicken katsu appetizer was plentiful and delicious!

Beatriz R.

Yelp
I can't wait to go back. My coworker recommended me this spot and we tried it for lunch one day at our office. I ordered the Spicy Kimos Ribs and they were incredible! Super flavorful, tender, and juicy! I highly recommend trying that.

MJ S.

Yelp
The best Hawaiin food I have ever had. The owner and operators are the kindest people. We got NoHo's catering for our Law School, and they hooked it up. It is the best teriyaki chicken, mac salad, and beef you can have in Portland. Everyone enjoyed it and went back for seconds and thirds. Their house sauces are delicious as well. Not only do I recommend it, but you can't go anywhere else for quality Hawaiian food. We will be back, and you have customers for life. Thank you so much for making our meal so special!
google avatar

Nate W.

Yelp
So freaking good I don't know where to even start. The food was delicious, being from somewhere there isn't a lot of good authentic Hawaiian food, this literally hit the spot. And the service was outstanding. Annaka was great, she was friendly and personable and just made the already amazing food even better.
google avatar

Rebecca N.

Yelp
First of all, can I say YUM! The food is great! Customer service is what gets me every time with a business. These guys are easy to communicate with and are so polite. I ordered a work lunch for about 30 people. Just the basics, kalua pork, and teriyaki chicken with a side of mac salad. They delivered everything in a warm box which was great! The meat was cooked perfectly and the mac salad (chef's kiss)! We will be keeping them on our lunch contacts! They even gave us a bottle of their own teriyaki sauce. Thank you Noho's!!
google avatar

Angelica A.

Yelp
Came with my husband on lunch from work - on a Wednesday at 11am when they opened! The waitress and staff are super friendly - and there is definitely a family vibe here that I love! I love the Island music they have playing as well. It may sound weird to comment on, but they have some of the best iced tea I've had in forever! We ordered the Loco Moco, and the spicy ribs to share! The menu has lots of options that I want to come back and try!! The portions are generous and you can chose between three sizes on entrees - which is a unique option in dining! The Loco Moco was good - I personally prefer a thicker gravy with a little more seasoning. The spicy ribs - Korean style, were great! Would love to come back to try more dishes for a potential 5 star!
google avatar

Harron E.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years...even got catering for a party and we've never had a bad experience. The service is excellent as well!
google avatar

Lou S.

Yelp
No, the name does not mean people with loose sexual values cannot eat there.. This is as close to the grinds of the North Shore your going to get in P-town... Brilliant. it's all ohana there..
google avatar

Vickie C.

Yelp
Noho's never fails to disappoint. I had the spicy teriyaki chicken (9a) and my husband had the Korean Ribs. It's still our favorite Hawaiian food in Portland. We miss their other locations.

Gulka M.

Yelp
Decided to try this location after eating at Medford. Idk if it was off day or something but rice was super overcooked just mush , meat was really tough and lacking sauce. Was honestly disappointed. Medford location is way way better.
google avatar

Toni D.

Yelp
Love Noho's! The portion size is large, which I'm not complaining about! Just a heads up, you'll get leftovers which are equally as good. Phil's ono is my go to order.

Nicholas Y.

Yelp
I've been going here for a while and the food is always amazing. The food here is pretty cheap for the large portion sizes they give. To put this in perspective this place gives such huge portion sizes even a large entree can fill CaseOh.
google avatar

Terrance S.

Yelp
Left a little something to be desired. I definitely like the location and neighborhood history, but maybe I chose the wrong items. Gonna have to stop by again and retool my order. The staff was great and very helpful. The spring rolls were amazing though....
google avatar

Jay P.

Yelp
We are a huge fan of the Noho's in Medford back in the day and when we were in Portland, we decided to try this location to take a stroll down memory lane. We got our usual Spicy Korean Chicken and Pan Fried Chicken. The grilled chicken was just like expected. The pan fried chicken was not as charred as we remembered and was not as good. I always sub out my rice for extra mac salad and it was awesome as usual. It was great to be able to have some good Hawaiian food again and hopefully we can return back in the near future!

Nicole P.

Yelp
Huge portions, food is good not great. Definitely will visit again. Service was meh, not bad but not good either.

Mark P.

Yelp
First, service was very gracious, the ambiance was good--nice Hawaii vibe--and my teriyaki steak and the macaroni salad were excellent. Downside: both the Korean chicken and the spicy teriyaki chicken had a strong "reheated" taste. Maybe order something else.

Kyle A.

Yelp
Just walked in here to grab some food to go and have a beer. Three employees walked by me without saying a word. I tried to wave to someone and say hi. They scowled at me and moved the "Please wait to be seated" sign into the middle of the walkway. No words. Just classic turd attitude. Also, their food is subpar anyway.

Tiffany C.

Yelp
The best Hawaiian food in Portland hands-down. A little spendy but all food is these days. I usually always have leftovers eating here, and everything is yummy. My favorites are the yakisoba, beef ribs, Mac salad, garlic chicken, & coconut shrimp!
google avatar

JB J.

Yelp
My favorite spot in Portland. Korean mixed plate 10/10. Hospitality 10/10. Back patio is really nice in the summer
