My friends and I (around ten of us) came here to celebrate a birthday. I do have to commend NoHu as we were stuck in traffic, so around 45 minutes late to our reservation. (We did call to give them a heads up and they informed us that this was okay.) Upon arriving, it was not crowded- but the hostess was friendly, & accommodating- she did inform us that there would be a flat $50 cake cutting fee for the birthday cake we brought. So, we provided them with the cake and everyone headed to the bar to order a drink while our table was being prepared. (There is a bar inside, I did not see one outside.)
Upon arrival, there was two bartenders on staff- which were a little overwhelmed as around eight of us wanted cocktails. Despite my friend ordering a spicy margarita and asking for it to be "closed out" after, the bartender never handed her back her card. She had to ask for it back 3x times and they misplaced it at first. The drinks were okay, but pricey (around $25 for a smaller size glass.) The spicy margarita was not spicy. Most people simply ordered only one drink because of this.
This restaurant seems connected to a hotel, which is a positive if you're staying there. Here is definitely somewhere where you are paying for the view and ambiance. The outdoor area is lovely, with a beautiful view of the city skyline. There are some fire pits located outside as well.
In terms of food, the menu is limited- so most people got multiple sides or appetizers. The food came out fast and overall was okay. The sweet potato fries had large amounts of sugar on them. The shrimp were cooked well, but over-saturated in a bbq-like sauce. The grits at the bottom of this dish were the star of the show. The lobster mac and cheese was good, with a hearty amount of lobster. This could easily be shared. We all split the brussel sprouts, which we found lacked flavor. Two of my friends got the salmon, which they found bland. While the food was not bad, it was just okay. With a limited menu, we would stick to appetizers / sides for here in the future. The grits and sweet potato fries were definitely the star of the show!
In terms of service, our server was friendly and the food came out fast, but when it came time to get the check / cake, we waited a LONG amount of time after asking. We unfortunately took a car service to this restaurant, so we now no longer had time to cut the cake there. They then claimed that since we brought the cake in, we'd still have to pay the $50 fee, which we initially agreed to, but no longer could due to time constraints. After further explaining the situation, they returned the cake to us and did not charge us the fee, which I appreciate.
Pros: great views & accommodating service
Cons: food is just alright & drinks were overpriced!
