Bologna, Italy, Is the Birthplace of Lasagna alla Bolognese — How to Visit

"Noi is located in Bologna's largest covered market, Mercato delle Erbe. The food hall houses a number of delis, pizzerias, restaurants, and bars worth a visit. Noi is known for its lasagna and antipasto pairings, such as tigelle and squacquerone cheese." - Kristin Braswell Kristin Braswell Kristin Braswell is a travel journalist and the founder of CrushGlobal Travel. The 18 Best Restaurants in Bologna, Italy | Eater

"Mercato delle Erbe is a produce market and food hall that encompasses delis, pizzerias, charcuterie bars, a few restaurant outposts, and Noi (which also has a location on Via dei Fornaciai). Located in one of the corners devoted to restaurants, it’s a prime choice for crescentine fritte: fried, lightly salted dough pillows that pair with Bologna’s fresh, soft squacquerone cheese and thinly sliced cured meats. The operation also specializes in polpette (meatballs), from traditional to more fanciful options, like cold canape-style mortadella polpette coated in pistachio. The pastas aren’t half bad, either. Noi is open Sundays, when lots of restaurants close." - Coral Sisk

Honestly the tortellini with the meat broth is far superior than the green lasagna. The lasagna was a bit too greasy for my liking and diminished the other flavors, it was good but not the best that day. The tortellini on the other side were full of flavor and the broth was delicious. Good service, cool place and good wines. I’m glad I came here!

Food wise it was just ok. Not a bad place to eat when is the market but compared to what bologna has to offer it’s not up there on my list.

On a study abroad tour last year, we had a cooking demonstration (this was at the restaurant with this same brand, where there is a jazz club and is open for dinner hours). All the leaders in the group booked a reservation and came back for dinner since this was the best Italian food we had encountered on the “taste of Italy” tour. Returning to Bologna a year later and making a stop in the city just for lunch to share the experience with my wife and daughter. Again, magnificent food!

Perfect night at the perfect place to have dinner. Fried bread for antipasti, green lasagna with traditional ragu, tortellini with parmigiano reggiano cheese, and tortellini in beef and manzo broth. Complemented with white wine from Bologna winery and tiramisu for the dessert.

Very impressive restaurant within the local market. Servers are very friendly and always smiling. Pasta is freshly made. Quality of food is as good as any other restaurant I ate in Italy but price is just half of the usual. The panna cotta with reduced wine changed my view of this dessert. I had never liked it before.

A friendly atmosphere and apparently happy customers. Service was very good, and pricing was slightly expensive. Food was fresh and servings were very clean. Very nice and helpfull staff. Artichokes were very good. Cheesw plate was nice also. Taglioline with riggione tomatoes and braised onions was nice..
