I had been looking forward to this bar my entire trip and genuinely wanted to love it. The interior is stunning — serene, intimate, and unlike anything we’ve seen. The food pairings were tasty and surprisingly filling.
The cocktails, however, were just okay. They used creative and unusual ingredients, but the flavor notes didn’t really come through. Most drinks tasted generally sweet rather than showcasing the unique profiles described on the menu.
The service was the real disappointment. It was only my husband, myself, and one other guest — who spoke Japanese and English. Without her help translating, we would’ve had almost no idea what we were experiencing. The owner was warm, detailed, and personable with her, but cold and dismissive toward us. Any explanations we received felt rushed, like he was reading a cue card instead of guiding us through a curated omakase.
He also scolded me for standing to take a photo before the experience even began — despite me politely asking if photos were allowed. From that moment, my husband and I just sat quietly, trying not to make the atmosphere worse. The other guest ended up giving us more hospitality and storytelling than the owner himself.
Afterwards, we noticed his responses to other negative reviews — including a quote where he says, “If I don’t like you, I won’t be nice to you.” Honestly, in a casual bar, that kind of blunt personality can be amusing. But in an omakase — an experience built on hospitality, attentiveness, and connection — that attitude feels completely out of place and unprofessional.
At $65pp the amount of drinks and food is fair. But calling this “omakase” feels misleading — the warmth, storytelling, and care simply weren’t part of what we received.
