"NOLA Doughnuts, a New Orleans-themed shop, specialized in beignets and croissant-doughnut hybrids called la’ssants. They closed all locations in the greater Portland area due to economic conditions and the pandemic's impact. The shop first opened in Lake Oswego in 2015 and later expanded to Portland’s Pearl District and Beaverton. Known for their unique square laminated pastry doughnuts and fresh-fried beignets, they also offered King’s Cake during Mardi Gras season." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

"NOLA Doughnuts takes its Lake Oswego cream-filled up to the Pearl. Across town, NOLA Doughnuts was opening its first Portland Proper location that same Saturday, with Cajun maple bacon, s’mores, and spiced honey walnut doughnuts, as well as traditional Louisiana beignets made fresh to order. The Portland Mercury broke the news, saying the doughnut shop filled the Blitz bar space. The shop also sells ice cream, milkshakes, and, in true New Orleans fashion, chicory coffee." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Delicious. They had lots of doughnut choices. We had the berry crumble cronut (they call it la'ssant) and chocolate ganache. Both were excellent. Lots of fruity sour flavour and deep chocolate flavour. Staff were busy and the guy taking orders was not the friendliest. Decor was nice with lots of tables, but unfortunately, all the tables were taken up by a doughnut tour group. Too bad. The participants were all spread out and only eating a single bite sized piece each, not leaving any seating free. Prices were high.

Portland is doughnut city, no doubts about that, so you gotta do something special to stand out. NOLA doughnuts really stands out in the Pearl district in Portland, their doughnuts always seem to be freshly prepared, as if they are made to order, the flavours are really exciting, and every week there is something new on display. My perennial faves are the grape jelly stuffed donut and oh god, the apple fritters are amazing. Thanks Nola, for making every night-out drinking special, as your donuts complete an outing. Its also cool that they are open till quite late everyday. The balance of chocolate decadent and fruity tart flavors is also pretty good, as there is something for every palette.

Lets start off with their infamous La ssant's, they're reallyy delicious and I can see why many people enjoy them. It was nice and warm freshly baked, the cream on top had great flavor, and soft dough however for me the only thing I didnt like was how watery the creme was and how oily the doughnut was. For the maple bar, the cream tastes like thickened maple syrup, not much texture and the flavor just tasted a bit off too me. The dough was soft and moist though. As for the mini bengiets they were nice hot and warm, they were really soft and nearing perfection!! But sadly around the time I went they didnt have much selection left and it was kind of overpriced in my opinion :( I'd say the La ssants were my favorite from this place though.

A different take on a donut that is more like a croissant mix. Comes in different icing flavors (I chose vanilla). The donut is super tasty and you get that nostalgic deep fried donut taste in your mouth. Because it's like a croissant, it is also very flaky and airy. Was very yummy! The inside of Nola is unique because it is supposed to look like you are on a street in New Orleans. The ambience is different, it seemed a bit cold and uninviting. The service though was great and the staff were kind!

Really nice staff. Super helpful and sweet. The place is decorated really cute. The donuts are good, they are different than your normal flavors. Really delicious. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because they are super oily. I wouldn't buy as many as I did. The oil sort of took away from the flavor after a day and I couldn't eat them all in one sitting.

Get the la’sants - they are amazing! Think croissant meets donut with a slightly crispy exterior and delectably soft interior. We were on vacation on a mission to try different Portland donuts each day - however this required a second visit. We tried s’mores, orange creamsicle, and lemon basil. We also did the maple bacon bar - personally we will stick with their la’sants as they are unlike any other donuts we’ve had. Looking forward to NOLA the next time we’re in town.

Strolling the Pearl district looking for a coffee and bite and fell upon this place - WOW. Doughnuts are phenomenal (don't miss the apple fritter) and the coffee first-rate. (In N.O. style they also offer coffee with chicory and cafe au lait.) Didn't get to try the beignets but will be back.

Remarkably flavorful donuts. We had the lemon poppy. Lots of lemon zest give it flavor. Quite sweet but not overpoweringly so. Came back a second time with friends. Did not disappoint.
