The Best MICHELIN Guide Hotels in Switzerland

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. Everything was very nice — the place was beautiful and spotless, and the room was fresh and comfortable. The breakfast was incredible, and the staff was always kind and helpful. We had a small issue during our stay, but the manager stepped in and helped us solve it quickly, for which we are truly grateful. Overall, a great experience and we’d definitely recommend it!

Absolutely loved it, am going back for more!|it's perfect for my work, and absolutely ideal for the overnight travel stay for business. amazing! love it!||UPDATE ON 14 AUG 2026:|I have been using the hotel nearly every week for just under 1 year now and I have to say it has been one of the most pleasurable experiences I have ever had being a business traveller. All of the staff, bar none, are incredibly kind, courteous and professional and very generous in nature. I'm only sorry that I can only give 5 starts and not 10 stars out of 5! I wish all my hotel experiences were as comfortable and happy as my trips to the Nomad in Basel. Thank you everyone! Especially Lia!

Very nice hotel approx. 10-12 minute walk from Basel SBB Bahnhof. Helpful staff. Cute and comfortable rooms. Sauna and fitness facilities on site. Nice restaurant for breakfast and dinner. You can borrow dry bags to swim in the Rhine. Highly recommend!

Google
"Stillness & Style at Nomad Hotel" I didn’t stay at the hotel, but I had the chance to do a creative shoot at Nomad. The space is stunning — modern, calm, and full of character. The team was warm, professional, and open to sharing the spirit of the place. Sharing a short video from the session to offer a glimpse into the atmosphere. If you’re looking for a place that blends design, soul, and serenity — Nomad might be worth a visit.

Very well located, clean, convenient, quiet apartment hotel that is reasonably priced. Close to public transportation, Schoenberg, grocery store, KaDeWe and many other stores. My one bedroom apartment with a balcony was spacious and well appointed. Despite no front desk the staff was very attentive to solving a problem I had when I was there. Also, a washer and dryer is available for ultimate convenience.

Perfect place to stay in Basel! Nice hotel, perfect location and super friendly staff. The breakfast buffet offers everything you"ll need to have a solid start into the day and beyond! Last but not least: The parking indoor is very convenient in case you travel by car! You wont use it for your time in Basel since the hotel provides you the Basel card with free public transportation.

I recently stayed at the Nomad for 2 weeks, and as someone that struggles with fragrances, my experience at Nomad was exceptional. ||From a design perspective, the modular concrete building design stops guest fragrances from moving easily between rooms, and the ability to open a window ensures guests have access to fresh air, greatly improving the experience. However, the incredible staff is what made the true difference. ||Prior to my arrival the staff had considered my needs and removed all soft furnishings from the room, scented toiletries, and quickly removed the scent sticks from the water station on my floor upon my arrival. Anything that could be contaminated by fragrance was removed, and my health and safety was their highest priority. They were quick to highlight the ideal entry/exit to minimise exposure to cigarette smoke and checked on me numerous times through my stay.||Unlike many hotels that have opted for closed doors, air-conditioning, and a ‘signature scent’ to mask unwelcome smells, Nomad is clean, fresh, and welcoming. ||The staff at Nomad made me feel welcome, safe, and at ease, and I was honestly sad to leave. ||With 30% of the population now experiencing some level of challenge with fragrances and scents, I can’t recommend the hotel, and its approach to guest safety, highly enough.||Beyond the fragrance considerations, just a few points. ||1. Breakfast buffet was sensational. Daniela runs the restaurant with finesse. The coffee is always great, the food (both hot and cold) is fresh and tasty - there is always something for everyone. I'm not a big hotel breakfast guy, but I found myself having three courses. ||2. The front desk isn't manned 24/7, but there well though out processes to deal with just about anything. Arrive late? Not a problem. Lock yourself out of your room at 4am like I did? There's a super easy process to follow. Just call a number from the phone at the front desk. ||Special call-out to Mika for his exemplary service - nothing was ever a problem. The guy is awesome. ||Would I stay there again? 200% yes.

I absolutely love staying at the Nomad whenever I'm in town for work. The atmosphere is always buzzing with energy. The food is excellent, offering a variety of delicious options, including vegetarian choices. The beds are incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep every time. Robin and the rest of the team give you a warm welcome, making it feel like a home away from home. The personal welcome text on the mirror is just that extra touch to make sure you feel truly welcome. It's also centrally located, not far from the railway station, shopping streets, and Kunstmuseum, restaurants and bars. Highly recommend this hotel for both business and leisure stays!

Yelp
Nomad is a sure thing: great food, excellent staff, and the kind of place where you feel immediately comfortable and welcome. Think of it this way, if you opened a restaurant/bar, you'd want it to be as good as Nomad. If you're in Basel, find a reason to go to Nomad.

Yelp
My husband and I needed a stop in Switzerland for our drive back from Tuscany to Amsterdam. We settled on Basel since it was the middle point of drive. The Nomad Hotel looked like it was a good spot to hang our hats for the evening. Location: Good location. Walking distance to restaurants, shopping streets, outdoor markets and public transportation. Arrival: You see the hotel restaurant and bar first and then come across the hotel. You walk down a corridor and find a large wooden door to the hotel. Bellman: None so be prepared to carry your own luggage. Parking: They have a small tight parking lot located -2 in the building. You need a key to enter the garage. Parking is 25 CHF / night. You can reach the rooms from the lift in the parking garage. Reception/Front Desk: Very friendly and Lobby: Super cute and functional. Room: We had room 97 which was the category of "Urban Unique Double Room" because when you book with a dog you have to book a room that has concrete flooring which are the Urban Unique ones. View: N/A - there was a shade that blocked the large window we had in our room Bed: Too soft for our taste. The have a soft padding on top of the mattress. Bathroom: Separate toilet on one side of the room and shower and sink in the other side of the room. Hair dryer: Normal dryer hanging on the wall in the bathroom. Products: Aesop products - My favorite! Coffee Maker: None in the room, but they have it in the hallway. Closet: Closet with iron and small ironing board, small fridge and safe. Safe: Standard hotel safe in the closet. Control Panel: One TV remote. Minibar: None. There's a mini fridge, but nothing in it except for a cookbook - no joke - see photo. Mirrors: One mirror inside of the closet and one mirror right next to the door. Housekeeping: N/A - only stayed one night. Wifi: Good. They give you a code forbid to give devices. Dining: We had dinner in the hotel restaurant which was pretty standard, but expensive. The menu is a bit odd - a bit Asian, a bit Western, a bit Middle Eastern. We ordered the burger which was messy but good and the Caesar salad was made with iceberg lettuce was drowned in the dressing. We ordered two of their local beer on draft. The total for dinner was 60 CHF. Spa/Gym/Pool: N/A - didn't use the spa or the gym. I don't believe they have a pool. Concierge: N/A - didn't have any questions. Style: Modern and hip. Service: Overall the service was good. Other: They have free coffee, tea and water at these kiosks on each floor. It's very cute and convenient. They have everything from the machines, cups, trays, coffee and tea bags, etc. I wish other hotels would do this! Dog Friendly? Yes! They don't charge you for having a pet, but they do make you book a "Urban Unique Double Room" which is a higher category than their standard rooms because it has concrete floors. Would I go back? Yes! It has everything you need for a city hotel.

Yelp
A last minute weekend gateway trip and we end up in Basel, booked Nomad hotel because of its Nordic design and convenient location which I didn't realise how close it was to everything. It was about 5 minutes walk to the Fine Arts museum, which gave generous discounts with students ID card, and it was about 5 minutes walk to city centre where tons of bars and shops, but it was closed from late Saturday afternoon. We were starving after few hours drive and decided to eat here in Nomad restaurant. Apparently, it's a bar like place where there is a stage for live band and bar tables. We end up in a corner where we could eat some food peacefully. I had lamb meatball with fresh vegetables and some fresh pomegranate cooked with hot yogurt, and starter of avocado tartar with fresh mango and some pepper. The two dishes are surprisingly good considering I don't usually give complements to non-spicy food. It's very creative to combine those ingredients together, especially pomegranate. The french fries as side dish comes in good portion and tastes good too. We didn't try any cocktails, but it should be good. One thing is to ask for English menu because everything comes in German. The Pho soup my friend tried was so so, needs more ingredients like soya. One thing I love it's the hotel room design, it's the thing I want in my room, modern and chic. If you got a chance, try the hotel sauna too.

Yelp
They make the absolutely BEST BURGER in all of Switzerland!!!!! We have lived here for years (we are American) and we have missed a proper burger- they do a great JOB! The bar is super friendly and has a mix of the hip, young and working professionals. This is worth the visit if you are anywhere near Basel.

Yelp
Fantastic pub and burger joint. Nomad burger with the fried egg, my personal favorite. Service was both very friendly and helpful. Both the bartenders and wait staff spoke English and English menus were available. The tables and chairs were a little small, so I'm not sure if would be comfortable for a full dining experience, but quick lunch or snack before/after evening festivities - perfect.

Yelp
Great facility for an all in one stop in Basel. Comfy rooms, great included breakfast and a relaxed downstairs bar and restaurant to drink away a lazy summer evening or get work done on a business trip.

Jorgo G.

Yelp
Great location in terms of ambiance, great service, disappointing food. Small dishes, so tried three of them. Chilli sin carne was decent, the nomad burger very flat, barely any sauce, not even a pickle, an unsophisticated bun, and the tandoori chicken had almost zero taste. It's a pity because the place would be a great restaurant overall if the food was good.

Yelp
I had brunch with my friends here and we love interior design. I commended to order their special menu such as English breakfast or Norway style etc... Because normal buffet is just some bread and different jams... Coffee is very nice so I'll definitely come back here for next brunch :)

Yelp
Amazing cocktails with a lot of options. The staff is very friendly, interior design is pretty cool, and the location is the reason that I gave 5 stars. It's right behind the Kunstmuseum, which is perfect to treat yourself after 4 hours of art seeing, and close to the cool side of town!
