"If you like eating Japanese, you shouldn’t miss this modest venue. The very experienced chef has mastered the subtlety and nuances that are typical of the cuisine of his home country. You can see him at work behind the sushi bar, driven and precise, creating a delicious variety of flavours and textures." - Michelin Inspector

Top notch Japanese dining in Brussels. Great cozy atmosphere with few places in the restaurant. Prices are high but the quality of the food is worth it. I recommend sitting at the bar to watch the cook make the food for you.

It's a great experience and definitely worth your time. The plum sake was particularly delicious and made for an excellent drink choice. 🥂

Excellent ! Authentic Japanese food and environment in Ixelles. We went for the omakase. Equally perfect as the best omakase I had in Japan !

Worth to go & worth to wait. Sashimi and fresh wasabi are superb.

We booked 3 weeks in advance. The experience started nicely, with fantastic service and the best sashimi we have ever tried. Wasabi was impressive! The famous miso eggplant is totally out of this world! Miso soup is very nice. The menu is very varied and unfortunately my spouse ordered something which was totally bitter, tasteless and really not good! First time since I ve known them that the meal was not finished. This ruined the whole evening as they were very unhappy about it. My food was very good and I felt like the place was really really worth coming back! Just check you fully understand what you are ordering before they actually bring you the food. However, the restaurant should fully understand that certain Japanese dishes which are very popular in the Western world, cannot be bitter or tasteless when you come and have really high expectations about them!

Update from my last visit August 2023. High standard of food, service are always stay the same, but the price did went up compare of my last visit. But that's applying to every where today. ----------------- One of the best authentic Japanese restaurant for 🍣 and Sashimi in Brussels. We took the lunch menu 40€ plus 2 different ways of cooked oysters. Sashimi were so fresh. Highly recommended

The quality of the food was amazing. The service was aswell. So certainly worth the somewhat higher price tag. But I feel like the Omakase, as it is, disappointed me a little. Starting with the Sashimi made it difficult for everything that followed to be on the same level. Adding to that that I might have expected one meat dish in place of one of the many vegetable centered dishes. (flan, tempura and Japanese mushroom dish). Ultimately I think Omakase should be a bit adapted to the client and I think here it would benefit that they asked where my main interests lied etc... And then based on that surprised me. I'd prefer 4-5 dishes that really intrigue me, over 6-7 dishes (of high quality for sure) Don't understand me wrong, everything I had was certainly worth it and super tasty. I just missed "something" to really have the complete experience. I'll be coming back but I will be ordering a la carte next time :)

Yelp
OK, so even if this place is expensive (same range as some other high quality sushi places in Brussels though), it totally deserves its 5-star. Not only will you go to sushi/sashimi heaven, but it is such a joy to watch the sushi chef cut your fish (when you're sitting at the bar). I fell in love with him. Old Japanese man, cutting his fish with all the love he has. He could seriously do it blindfolded. The place itself is very discrete. Nothing too fancy, as well from the outside as inside. From outside, you might even hesitate to enter. However, please do not (if you have the splurge of course). You will not be disappointed. Sushi and sashimi are exquisite, every bite brings you closer to heaven. Offering sea urchin sushis tells you how great this place can be. The non-sushi and non-sashimi dishes are delicious as well and everything that is on the menu makes you want to try it out. We had some appetizers to share: clam miso soup (very good, but maybe really too expensive for what it is. Next time, we'd rather go for this other clam noodle soup that looked succulent, only a little more expensive but a much bigger quantity) and the chawanmushi (flan eel with king crab) which was to die for. King crab was really king crab. Delicious! As for our main course, we had the big sashimi plate and the wagyu beef. Definitely a foodgasm. After that, we still wanted to keep tasting the rest, as everything was so good. So, we decided to order some extra sea urchin sushis (we first wanted sashimi style, but the chef was so nice to warn us that that would be way too expensive, so we decided to stay with the sushi ones) and we definitely did not regret to end our meal this way. Well, we still ordered some ice creams (green tea and black sesame) to really end our dinner and to give us some time to consider already what we could try on our next visit here. I noticed they have some very affordable lunch menus. That should definitely be worth the detour if you don't want to empty your bank account. Anyways, for me, this is my new favourite Japanese "joint", just because I fell in love with the sushi chef.

Yelp
Authentic Japanese. In this town, if you want real (good) Japanese you must go to a place like this and pay the price for a trained Japanese chef behind the counter and authentic flavor. Not really a place for sushi and sashimi ( you'd have to go to another country for this) but great grilled selections and some cold dishes.

Yelp
It is certainly a strong contender to that title. Chef Suetsugu Yosuke has brought 30 years of experience as a sushi master in Japan all the way to our plates in Brussels. The restaurant is a favorite of the Japanese community, so be sure to book as it is not big and always very busy. Sushi and sashimi are fantastic. Alone they make this place special, but the rest of the menu simply adds to it by offering a range of delightful dishes which are worth trying. Sit at the sushi counter on a first visit, always nice to see the chef working his magic. Food aside, the place is very nice though unfortunately service is sometimes below average. It is also not cheap, even maybe a bit overpriced, but that is unfortunately common for any good high end Japanese restaurants in Brussels. Parking can be a challenge but bus and tram make their way here regularly given it is next to the ULB university.

Yelp
Very nice place. Service is very good and the quality of the food is fantastic. Why not 5 star then .... the price, a little too high.
