TL;dr version: seriously cool speakeasy, with tunnels and secret doors. Fancy, tasty cocktails. Waitlist, but get on it ahead of time online.
A seriously cool place. Just getting to the door made the wait worth it. Behind the electrical panel door, a guy greets you through a tiny peep window. Once you're let in, you take a few long, concrete hallways till you reach an innocuous wooden door. Behind that door- holy $H1t, there's a swanky bar/lounge.
The staff are soooo nice, which is important to me. When we got in the bar, the hostess told us to feel free to peek behind the big full length mirror if we wanted to see the "library," or secret room. Of course we did- dark, fancy chairs, shelves of books. I felt like I was in a study of some Ladue house. To get seated in here is mostly luck of the draw, but the hostess said when you check in, you can request this area, and they'll try to seat you here (more about checking in coming up). The rest of the bar is dimly lit, very classy, and upscale (to me, anyway). Lots of little round tables with barrel type chairs. We were seated at the bar, which was fun, as we got to watch the bartenders make some beautiful cocktails.
About the cocktails- they are fancy schmancy. I don't even know what 90% of the exotic ingredients are (what the heck is orgeat, anyway?), but the drinks are well balanced, tasty, and gorgeous. The cocktails on the menu run $14-25. Most are in the $15-16 range. Service is fast. They have some snacks you can order, but no hot food.
Now- getting in: you need to pull up the website and get added to the waitlist. They do take walk ins, but the wait is hours, and you'll likely get in after 10pm when they slow down. The line at the door at 5pm on a Saturday (granted, it was opening weekend, so this may not be the case later) extended well out into the foundry courtyard. The website waitlist is hours as well, but you can go do other stuff until your time. They give an estimated time your seating will be ready, but don't show up till you get the text (from experience). I imagine once the novelty wears off a little, the wait time will get pared down.
Definitely worth checking out for the speakeasy vibe, if nothing else.
