"I'm heading to the free-to-enter Lunar New Year celebration at the Westwego Farmers Market (484 Sala Avenue) this Friday, Feb. 3 from 5–10 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 4 from noon–10 p.m.; organized by NOLA Nite Market and Sông, it convenes dozens of local food and drink vendors, AAPI student organizations, and nonprofits to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit. The two-day festival offers a wide sampling of dishes — spicy rice cakes, Filipino barbecue skewers, Japanese taiyaki, beef jerky chips, Korean-style fried chicken wings (sweet soy or honey butter), lemongrass grilled chicken skewers, banh mi, garlic butter shrimp, basil popcorn chicken, crab rangoon, dan dan dumplings, a variety of nori tacos (ahi tuna, salmon, chili garlic crawfish, soft shell crab), kimbop and barbecue cups, pork adobo and ube mango pudding, lumpia, pancit, vada pav and butter chicken, smoked brisket fried rice and smoked pulled pork banh mi, truffle chicken katsu and chicken karaage, Nutella and ube taiyaki, roti with curry, Thai beignets, crepes, ice cream, and Thai tea — creating a vibrant, multicultural street-food vibe." - Clair Lorell
