I’ve visited the Soho branch before and thought we’d try this location since we’d heard there’s usually no wait. There were about eight of us, and although one friend was running late, we were still seated at a large table. My first impression was that the space is definitely bigger than the Soho branch.
We were given menus and attended to by two South Asian servers (one male, one female). They were polite, friendly, and genuinely helpful. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about their manager — Chinese man wearing glasses — whose attitude was noticeably cold. He didn’t smile, seemed impatient, and kept glancing over at our table asking when our friend would arrive. For context, we had already ordered starters while waiting, so it’s not as if we were holding up the table.
At one point, the manager came over and took the menus. When we asked if he could leave one behind, he responded with a dismissive “yeah yeah, there’s one there,” in a tone that really put me off.
Once our friend arrived, we ordered our mains. The food was very good — on par with the Soho branch. The prawns were tasty, the cucumber salad was outstanding, and the beef rib noodles (which we all ordered) were delicious and generously portioned.
What ultimately let this place down was the manager’s behaviour. We felt rushed, dismissed, and unwelcomed. We weren’t expecting special treatment — just basic courtesy and a sense that our presence was appreciated, especially when we’re paying customers. It was a stark contrast to the warm, attentive atmosphere at the Soho location. The manager’s attitude came across as borderline rude and very standoffish. Even as we were leaving, the two servers remained lovely, but the manager looked at us as though he was relieved we were going.
Will we return? ABSOLUTELY NOT. I’d rather wait in the long queues at Soho than come back here.
