"The residential neighbourhood is a maze and there’s no sign for the restaurant. A spotlight on a bowl of ramen in a showcase indicates you’ve arrived. The industrial space has the feel of a laboratory. ‘Raamen’ is a blend of Kyoto wheat noodles in a clear soup of seafood dashi stock. Thinly sliced roasted pork fillet is from Kyoto-raised swine. Blue bowls of specially ordered Kiyomizu ware set off each meal to its advantage. Custard pudding, sweetened with refined sugar, is a popular item." - Michelin Inspector

🌟🍜 A quiet gem with a minimalist design where simplicity is part of the experience. The duck ramen is exceptional; deep, refined flavors with a perfectly balanced broth that highlights the quality of the ingredients. Every detail feels intentional and well executed. Don’t miss the egg flan: silky, delicate, and surprisingly memorable. A beautiful, understated finish. Rennosuke is a place where craftsmanship and restraint shine. Simple, honest, and truly outstanding.

Noodle Shop Rennosuke (麺屋 練之助) is an absolute standout in Kyoto. The aesthetic alone is worth the visit—minimal, intentional, and beautifully designed, with every detail feeling thoughtful, right down to the dishware. The food was exceptional. We ordered both the pork ramen and the duck ramen, and each was outstanding—deeply comforting and perfect for a cold December day. The duck ramen broth initially had a slightly gelatinous texture, but as we worked through the noodles it thinned out into a beautifully balanced, rich broth that was incredibly satisfying. We also ordered the grilled pork and egg on rice, which may have been the highlight of the meal. The pork was hands-down the best grilled pork I’ve had—perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and paired with a sauce that was absolutely spot on. The omelette was another surprise; it’s remarkable how such a simple dish could taste so refined and delicious. The staff were friendly, attentive, and clearly take pride in what they do, which elevated the experience even further. From the atmosphere to the food to the service, everything felt carefully considered. I would wholeheartedly recommend Rennosuke to anyone visiting Kyoto.

A hidden gem in a quiet, traditional neighborhood. Modern interior, great quality food, and fair prices. The menu is short but well-curated. Went without a reservation before opening, although maybe better making one. Service is fast, though it can feel a bit rushed at times. Definitely worth a visit.

Cool place to eat Ramen with Michelin certification. They serve 3 different Ramen of which I chose the one with duck. The place has 10 seats therefore you better make a reservation. I also had Chicken wings as a "Snack" and the Creme brulée.

This is truly a hidden gem in the suburban. I enjoy the food, the sake especially the pudding. Really recommend for anyone who is near or just wanna try 1 of the best pudding dish ever.

What can I say? One of the best meals we have had on so many levels. If you're a local, maybe no big deal. But as a visitor to find the place I will remember forever. Me and my daughter loved the food here, just Go!

Everything! The experience, the place, the attention. Such an amazing way of finishing our day in Kyoto. You have to try the charcoal pork appetizer. I didn’t take a picture because it was so good that I finished it in seconds. Amazing place!

Very hidden little ramen shop with a simple but very tasty menu. Definitely worth a visit and a reservation is needed!
