"Westside standard-bearer Nook Bistro is closing on March 26, ending a 15-year run for the Santa Monica Boulevard restaurant. Though the ultimate end is coming soon, there’s still time to step in for “one last meal and to revel in the amazing phenomenon we created,” says owner Brian Frith-Smith. He adds: “The camaraderie that we share with our Nook-going community is what has made running this business truly meaningful and enjoyable for everyone who works here.”" - Farley Elliott

Four words: all day happy hour. This place has great ambiance and super friendly staff, with cheap drinks and bites at the bar all day every day. Their food is solid, nothing too mind blowing, but good. The happy hour drinks are mostly well, with a few specialties - solid, and you can't beat them for $6 (wine too!). The non happy hour cocktails are a lot better if your tastes are particular. For the prices, it's hard to beat in LA!

I used to love this place, it was a little gem. There were boiled peanuts on the table, the hamburger was extraordinary good, and the food was really interesting. That was then, this is now. For lunch, the choices are limited, the hamburger is available only at dinner, and the day we were there, a Wednesday, there were only two other people eating lunch. It was a bit sad and depressing. The food was fine, but nothing like what it had been a few years ago.

Great place to eat. Its fine dining with a Southern touch. They have shrimp and grits which is divine. Happy hr sitting in the center is very social, it's a community table without reservations. You can always start a conversation with your neighbour.

I've been here several times. The food is always great. The chef has imagination but nothing is pretentious. Atmosphere is intimate, but get there when they open so you can choose the table you want. The place fills up quickly.

This place blew me away. I got the pork chop, which was perfectly cooked and just melts away in your mouth. I couldn't stop eating the brussel sprouts (of all things!) that came on the side. My boyfriend's shrimp and grits was just as good. We ended up switching halfway through our meal so we could each have both dish. You get boiled peanuts before your meal, too. We made reservations for the Monday holiday. There didn't seem to be too much of a wait, but the tables were all full throughout our meal. Probably a good idea to make a reservation if you can.

Excellent place! I was visiting from Texas and my reservation at another restaurant got cancelled last minute but The Nook came right in clutch! We arrived a few minutes early but the manager made sure my friend and I were well taken care of! I loved the food, the drinks and the environment of it all! Great place!

Tonight I ate one of the best meals I have ever had! I visited the Nook with 6 friends, we all had the Sunday special of smashed peas and pickled onions,Chilean sea bass, dandelion greens and anchovy carrots, followed by a delectable apricot dessert; my taste buds are dancing Thank you!
