Susan and I have been meaning to visit NORI for quite some time, and after finally making the trip, we can honestly say it was well worth the wait. This is one of those restaurants you can easily drive past without realizing what a great spot it is, but once you step inside, it quickly becomes clear that this place is something special.
Right away, you feel the care that comes with a family-owned restaurant. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, with a sushi bar that invites you to sit back and watch the chefs work. One of the first things that caught our attention was the hand-painted murals throughout the restaurant. We learned they were created by the owner, Nengah, and his brother, which immediately added a personal touch and gave us a sense of the pride behind the business.
The menu is impressively diverse. Sushi lovers will feel right at home with a wide selection of classic and signature rolls, along with premium options that allow the chef to prepare favorites just the way you like them. What really stood out to us is that NORI is not just a sushi restaurant. The menu also includes hibachi, Asian dishes, wings for game days, and kid-friendly options, making it a great choice for families or groups with different tastes. They also have a solid selection of wine, sake, and beer, which is not always easy to find at sushi spots.
We ordered a variety of dishes to really experience the menu. The Fuji Roll was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully balanced, with shrimp tempura, avocado, and krab stick topped with krab salad, spicy mayo, eel sauce, scallions, and masago. The St John's Roll was another standout, combining shrimp tempura, cream cheese, and crab salad, topped with avocado and seared salmon. Every bite tasted clean, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared.
We also wanted to explore the Asian side of the menu, so we ordered the Mie Goreng. This Indonesian-style stir-fry noodle dish was outstanding. It had the perfect level of spice and depth of flavor, with cabbage, carrots, onions, a fried egg, and shrimp crackers adding great texture. One of the newer items we tried was the krupuk, a shrimp cracker that added a fun and authentic crunch to the meal and paired well with everything on the table.
Service was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. We never felt rushed, and it was clear that the staff cared about our experience. That kind of hospitality makes a big difference and is something we always appreciate.
Value is another strong point here. The pricing feels very fair for the quality of food, portion sizes, and overall experience. NORI works just as well for a casual lunch, a family dinner, or a relaxed evening with friends.
By the time we left, we were already talking about when we would come back. NORI has quickly become one of our new local favorites and a place we will happily recommend. If you enjoy sushi, Asian cuisine, or simply discovering well-run local restaurants with heart, this is a spot you should absolutely check out.
