Best Sushi Restaurants in the East Bay | Eater SF

"If you’re looking for an immaculate omakase experience, that was never what this tiny and perpetually busy strip mall sushi restaurant was about — even prior to the pandemic, it was mostly a takeout spot. Nori Roll’s calling card is very fresh sashimi and nigiri, served up quickly and at an uncommonly reasonable price. The chirashi bowl is one of the better deals around." - Luke Tsai

Google
You know if sushi is fresh or not based on their rice and Nori Roll is always FRESH!! Whenever we have a family potluck, I order a large tray of California rolls which everyone loves. We’ve been coming here for years and everything is fabulous.

Marco Kok

Google
Honestly it's so good. Like the spicy tuna hand roll is phenomenal and it's like what $6. They don't really have any dining area except for one table. It's more of a takeout place, but that's probably why it's so cheap. High quality sushi the low prices if you don't need the ambiance or whatever

Google
We've been ordering from Nori Roll for years--it's great: fresh, clean, consistent and delicious. We typically get basic nigiri and maki sushi, but they offer a range of specialties. The owners are friendly, happy to fill special requests, and remember you. If there's ever an issue, they immediately respond. The place is tiny, unassuming, takeout only, and prices are reasonable.

Zarveria Slaugther

Google
Amazing rolls for an amazing price. The rolls have a really good size compared to other places nearby. New favorite sushi spot! Not sure about dining in since they have very limited space. For takeo ut is just perfect.

DW Kim

Google
This is your go-to local spot for takeout sushi. They don’t have a dining area. Everything tasted fresh and the family-run business offers great service. I made a mistake with the pick up time for my order so I ended up showing up 30 min early. They were able to prioritize my order and even gave my son some edamame while we were waiting. I really appreciated the warm gesture and them going above and beyond. Food did not disappoint either. I recommend this place for anyone near El Cerrito for takeout sushi.

Google
Really good takeout sushi! Big portions and fresh delicious fish.

Marilyn Orozco

Google
This is my favorite sushi place. The ingredients are so fresh and the rolls are well made. This is a pick up sushi place, no sit down.

Kurt Buss

Google
Great food every time. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The online ordering system is easy to use, and I like that you can pay when ordering. This makes pickup fast and easy!

Yelp
It's so good and so simple. The food is affordable and very fresh and delicious. I got a sake donburi, sake making and spicy tuna. I don't love avocado in my spicy tuna, but it was super delicious. It's a takeout spot in a strip mall with limited parking so plan accordingly. I'll definitely return soon, it's a great value.
google avatar

Yelp
so yummy and so good. portions are generous and the owners are so sweet. worth every penny! wasabi is legit! there isn't any real sit-down area, so its a quick pick up and take out vibe.

Yelp
Nori Roll was extremely disappointing. We tried it for the first time over the weekend, and we were disappointed with almost every roll and item we ordered. Salmon and hamachi sashimi-- the slices of fish were cut SO thick. It's definitely not the way I enjoy my sashimi. We ordered the Angry bird, Fairytale yellowtail, CA roll and Dragon roll. All were disappointing. The crab in all of them were so HEAVY with mayo. We ordered the Unagi don and the unagi had bones in every single bite. We order unagi and unagi dons at other Japanese restaurants and never have they had this many bones. It just feels like Nori roll lacks the finesse and it very much impacts the quality and taste of their food. Won't be going back.

Yelp
Really just good value for the money. May be my new take-out sushi spot. The nigiris all came with huge slices of fish. The sushi rice isn't my thing.. kinda fell off the fish a bit.. maybe just me? Free roll, miso soup and salad included! I think overall this is just hard to beat. Only thing is this is takeout only.
google avatar

Yelp
One of my new favorite places! Yum! Good service, great experience. All the rolls and bentos were delicious!
google avatar

Gargi D.

Yelp
Good quality sushi. I appreciate how many different choices they offer at a very affordable price point. This is a to-go spot, so don't expect seating. I will be back to try more of their creative rolls!

K L.

Yelp
Long time customer. Fish quality is excellent. The owners use quality ingredients. Portions are generous. Service is excellent. It is to-go only. So who cares about the ambiance. :D

Yelp
Nori Roll is a tiny take-out gem of a sushi shop in a strip mall. They're efficient with orders- each time I've come in to order in person, it's ready to go within 10 minutes. We've been three times, trying specialty rolls, classic rolls, veggie maki (including sweet potato which is one of my new favorites), and pork ramen. Prices are very reasonable and there's usually easy parking.
google avatar

Soo K.

Yelp
A really solid and affordable sushi spot. I ordered from ubereats and honestly it was worth the money. I'm surprised how fresh the quality of my salmon nigiri was! I feel like my least favorite was the spicy tuna roll. It definitely wasn't spicy and it was sort of slimy.. but overall good experience. The dragon roll was really good. Pro tip: ask for extra ginger bc they're a bit skimpyy and use different wasabi.
google avatar

Bonnie S.

Yelp
Our go to takeout sushi place! It's no frills and the fish is always fresh. Ordering online and then coming to pick up is a breeze. There are so many different rolls to choose from and we've liked everything we've gotten so far. The rolls are big, yummy and filling. It's not necessarily traditional nor is it a fancy place but if you're looking for a delicious casual takeout sushi place - this is it!
google avatar

Helen W.

Yelp
A great little Japanese takeout restaurant. Service was quick. I was pleasantly surprised by the freshness of the fish. I ordered a chicken karaage, rainbow roll, salmon lover roll, and cherry blossom roll. Everything was really good and very reasonably priced. I will definitely come back.

Yelp
Nori Roll is open again today after a hiatus of months off. I don't think there's any sushi restaurant like this where the prices are so reasonable and the food is well-made. They make basic sushi delicious here. The 49'ers roll used to be my favorite roll but today for lunch, the ingredients were uneven in my 49'ers roll. Some pieces had mostly artificial crab and other pieces had mostly avocado and all I could taste was the mayonnaise in the artificial crab mixture. 13.95 is a lot to pay for a big Califonia roll. In the future, I will stick to the bento boxes here with teriyaki salmon and Alaskan rolls with salmon and avocado.
google avatar

Asiyeh Z.

Yelp
The messiest and loose rolled sushi I have ever had. I tried to pick it up with chopstick and dip in soy and it would just fall apart before I even got to do the. Highly disappointed

Yelp
Really excellent New Year's lunch in the park! Didn't even mind that this wasn't as sit-down place. We pivoted, ordered two bento boxes, a roll and an appetizer, waiting very patiently as the friendly speedily prepared the order. And none of this 'no to-go soups' business that you see in too many Chinese restaurants when you do take out. Here, the soup, a pleasing miso with tiny cubes of tofu, were warm and flavorful. Order: Bento 1 was chicken teriyaki and California rolls; Bento 2 was Mixed Tempura and Spicy Tuna Rolls. Both served with fresh green salads and creamy miso dressing and the two soups. For me the teriyaki was a tad soft and not as crispy or slightly charred. Otherwise it was very good. The tempura was excellent --big shrimp or prawn piece, eggplant, carrots. broccoli. The spicy tuna rolls were clearly the star dish --prepared fresh and tasty with just the right amount of fiery ginger slivers and wasabi. The rolls were better than decent. And is it ok to state the not-so-obvious fact that the rice was abundant and super fluffy? We had not had Japanese in about six months and it was nice to be able to tuck into these remarkable flavors for the New Year. Now trying to set a date for a return visit. Prices were pretty fair, unlike some places in chi-chi towns like Walnut Creek or even Berkeley. Do not sleep on Nori Roll, set in a small strip mall on San Pablo Ave.

Yelp
This is a Togo sushi place but with the Best quality sushi with reasonable price that I could find in the Bay Area. I have been eating sushi / Sashimi from all over the world including Japan. You should give it a try if you care about sushi rice , sashimi quality. They also have a reward program when you order online which makes it even better deal. Super convenient process. They also willing to use the containers I brought, making togo order environment friendly
google avatar

Yelp
I stumbled upon Nori Roll while driving through the area and I'm so glad I did! This small takeout-only sushi shop is an absolute gem. While there's no seating, it more than makes up for it with the quality and flavor of their sushi. All the rolls that we've ordered were quite substantial, fresh, and absolutely delicious. There are so many options to choose from, there's surely something for everyone. And the best part? The prices are very reasonable (for the Bay Area) for the quality you're getting. If you're looking for a casual, no frills spot for sushi, Nori Roll is it! Can't wait to come back soon.
google avatar

Melanie J.

Yelp
This is a little hole in the wall that is probably overlooked by many when looking at the strip mall it sits in just as I did but definitely don't be fooled. This place has such good sushi and the prices are worth the size which is big plus for me. There's nowhere to sit inside (guessing because of COVID like a lot of places) but the staff is as friendly as they can be for a pickup order. This is my second time coming here. This time I got a crunchy and dragon roll and the flavor was great, portions were just as great. I can't remember what I got for my first order but it was also really good and enough for me to want to go back. I will definitely be going back for a third time and highly recommend it to anyone who needs a sushi fix.

Yelp
Wonderful gem! Restaurant is very tiny. Ordered to go online and order was ready with a notification via phone. Food was delicious! Everything was so tasty, I'd come back again. Forgot to take photos of the food.

Yelp
Got the food to go. We got 3 rolls and a chicken karage. The food was very reasonably priced and the portions were huge. The fish was super fresh as well. This is my new go to place for sushi then a picnic! I can't wait to try more sushi!

Henderson C.

Yelp
The seaweed part of my rolls was just plain weird: light colored and terrible tasting. I have enjoyed sushi literally from Whole Foods premade to good restaurants in Japan. I feel like I've had a lot of sushi. I liked the salmon avocado roll I ordered. It was the style with rice in the outside. Wrapped the other way, with seaweed on the outside, the veggie rolls were not good. Specifically the wrap was oddly light colored. It smelled and tasted terrible. Never in my life have I found an avocado or cucumber roll to be inedible! It was the same seaweed in all of them but wrapped in the outside it hits your tongue first, in a bad way. I'm hoping I don't get sick from the ones I already ate. The smell is really strong. Please note: this is a "to go only" restaurant, food was plated at home.
google avatar

Kharey R.

Yelp
First the prices you see on yelp are NOT the actual prices. I ordered a dragon roll, California roll pot stickers, and tempura. When I went to pick up each of these items were $5-$6 more than on the website. I showed the prices to the owner and they took no responsibility and said those are old prices. Since I was already there and hungry I bought it. California roll was a ball of mayonnaise and way to salty, Dragon roll was way to salty and bad quality unagi rubbery and chewy. I was very disappointed in the whole experience even the potstickers and tempura tasted frozen, I cannot give this business my stamp of approval
google avatar

Vidya S.

Yelp
I came in looking for delicious sushi and appetizers, and was not disappointed! Rolls were very fresh and good quality, but the real stars were the potstickers! They were the perfect mix of crispy and chewy with delicious filling.

Yelp
First timer here! Read about this place from other reviews and looking at the photos, I was excited to try a new sushi spot nearby. Since moving to the East Bay, I haven't found a sushi spot that I've pledged my allegiance to. Still walking that buffet line until I've found the one. It's a takeout place so that helped out with time. I was able to order ahead and the menu had a lot to choose from. Spicy edamame (it was the one order I wasn't too crazy about); it had a flavor I wasn't fond of and I can't pinpoint it, mixed tempura (still crispy despite the 15 minute car ride back home), unagi nigiri (2 pcs), California roll (topped with Avo and roe), Dragon roll and the two hamachi rolls (one spicy, one regular). When I unpacked all the food (for photos of course), the rolls looked yummy. I was excited to try it all, especially since it's been awhile since we had sushi. I was satisfied and the fam was as well. The rolls were huge and for next time, I'll probably order three rolls instead of four. The mixed tempura was plentiful and everything was packed thoughtfully- the tempura sauce was wrapped in cling wrap to prevent spills). The total for 2 apps, four rolls, one nigiri was $60 something but I included a 15% tip for preparation so it came out to $80 something. Pretty damn good price for a Sunday dinner feeding hungry boys! Definitely returning and I'm happy about finding a sushi spot close to home!

Yelp
YUM!! So happy that I finally got to try this long awaited El Cerrito mom and pop sushi spot. Located on San Pablo Ave, it's a small spot that only offers takeout. The Nori Roll team was cranking out lots of to-go orders when I arrived and even after the 15 min car ride home, my order was still fresh. The rolls are very tasty, nicely portioned, and decently priced! I got salmon/hamachi sashimi along with the dragon and tiger rolls and it lasted me for 2 meals. Each bite was flavorful and delicious. I'm definitely coming back to try the rest of the menu. This place is a clear winner for yummy takeout sushi!

Yelp
We've gotten takeout here a couple times now and have enjoyed the food every time. For bay area, their sushi is not too pricey for what you get. We always order a couple rolls to share and then entrees for ourselves and call it a meal. We ended up having some leftover potato croquettes that we airfryed and ate the next day. For the food, we love most of their entrees and apps. I've had their combos that are good and I love their salmon bowl or sake don. They usually cut their sashimi nice and thick, but not too thick, and it pairs with the rice so well. My boyfriend enjoyed trying their katsu donburi. Their salmon teriyaki is good too but be careful of bones - we had a couple small ones in our last order. Their sushi is hit or miss - we like some of their rolls but their fancy rolls seem to all have the same flavor. We enjoy their simpler rolls like the shiitake maki or their other maki ones! If I had to nitpick about something, I do wish they'd label their rolls because sometimes it's hard to tell what is what when they're covered in sauce/fried. Because my boyfriend and I share though, it's not a huge deal - it'd moreso be harder for those ordering rolls on their own. I will add though, they combine their rolls in containers sometimes, which I appreciate because it's less wasteful. Also, I want to mention that they actually forgot one item in our last order and when we called them, they immediately made things right. They apologized and refunded us right away - we'll have to try their spicy yellowtail roll next time!

Yelp
Nori Roll is a hidden gem. Fresh sushi, good portioning, and great value. This family run sushi place is take out only, but don't let that fool you when I came in the middle of the week a lot of people were picking up. Their menu is surprisingly extensive as they have a specials menu posted on their window that doesn't seem to be online - I don't believe? Regardless, all their dishes are yummy and crafted neatly. If I'm in the area again I'll won't hesitate to swing by to make another pick up.

Karen L.

Yelp
Reliable, reasonable price, fresh salmon is good. Rolls a little loose. Hole in the wall.
google avatar

Liz P.

Yelp
Yummy! My son suggested sushi for dinner, and of course I said yes because what kind of monster would say no?! I did not realize this place was takeout only, but we came here based on the 4.5 star rating and placed our order to-go and it was ready in about ten minutes. Everything was delicious, the portions and prices were reasonable considering how expensive sushi can be. I loved the salmon skin salad, the salmon skin was perfectly crispy and the dressing was delicious. We'll be back soon now that we know about this gem.
google avatar

Wendy G.

Yelp
The fish is fresh and the rolls are delicious. A very nice sushi meal can be had here - don't let the small restaurant in a small strip mall fool you. Family owned and ran - very friendly. The place gets packed with a lot of to-go orders so be patient. Often times they will give you free soup or something for the extra wait. I don't mind because they are so nice, honest, and the free item is tasty!
google avatar

Yelp
I order sushi to go here at least once every week or two. I like to be environmentally friendly/save on plastic- so I always bring my own container! I just tell them over the phone that I am bringing my own glass or Tupperware. The sushi here is always fresh and delicious! They also have a point system. I get rewards every time and redeem with a free edamame which is my daughter's favorite. They are quick. They always estimate the pick up to be 15 minutes, but it sometimes takes them a few more minutes after I arrive to be ready.

Yelp
TL:DR - A cheap but still tasty sushi version of a Chinese take-out spot. As far as I can tell they are exclusively take-out. But sushi quality is higher than the grocery store, but still lower than most sushi focused sit-down spots. Sushi rice is great/on point. The best part about this spot is their prices. We got 5 rolls for under $50. Where else you going to get that in the bay?! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Legit just a tiny mom/pop take out spot that gives you great value sushi. Reminds me a lot of the old mom and pop Asian spots where the kid is stationed at a table somewhere with a TV and homework while mom and dad make food, this had all that. Kid, TV, homework. There's a single table and chair inside (apart from where the kid was sitting), but I really don't think it's for customers to sit and eat. This place looks exclusively take out. That being said, coming in on Friday night, mom and dad were BUSY. Ordered online, was quoted a 45 min wait time and even after that I still had to wait 10 min there, but everyone was working furiously, so not like they were slacking. In terms of actual food, I will say that this place is not a fancy sushi place. It's this weird spot where it's clearly better than grocery store sushi, but not better than what I typically think of when I think sushi restaurant, it's this spot that is like the sushi version of a Chinese takeout spot. But we ordered a california roll, sweet potato roll, baby dragon roll, crunchy roll, and dynamite roll. The basic rolls (i.e., the california roll and sweet potato roll) really stuck out to me as being like really good for the type of roll they were. You could really taste the sushi rice and the slight sweet/acidic flavor blended perfectly with the filling. The other rolls were pretty non-descript. Tasted fine. I also noticed on the menu a lot of overlap between rolls, with big differences just being like the type of sauce they include on top... But the slices of fish they include in the sushi is a generous cut. No skimping there +1! Even with all that, the thing that really makes this place stand out is the price. The fish is solid, the filling is solid, but the price is great. For about 5 rolls and a soup, it was under $50. Where else are you going to get that in the bay?! All in all, this place is great if you want to frequent sushi spot that won't break the bank and that still hits the spot more than the grocery store. Will be back.

Judy Y.

Yelp
Sushi is good, fresh and consistent. Compared to supermarket sushi, for about the same price, the sushi is much better and portions are generous.
google avatar

Terrance R.

Yelp
If you're looking for great Japanese food at a reasonable price( take out) order from here. You won't be disappointed. They have great sushi and delicious bento boxes.

Andrea A.

Yelp
Didn't really enjoy the food. Fish doesn't taste fresh. They do serve pretty large portions of sushi
google avatar

Avi S.

Yelp
Not sure what people expect for such an amazing sushi price, but this little place was great. Got the 49er roll, ingredients fresh (I mean, the fish wasn't bursting with high end sushi flavor but it wasn't at all fishy or off, it tasted fine). Fast service, eat in car.
google avatar

Claudia A.

Yelp
We ordered the rainbow roll, California roll and the deep fried California roll and boy they were delicious. Nori sushi did not disappoint. Definitely. Will be ordering again!!!
google avatar

Jill Z.

Yelp
Very inattentive service. Food was meh. They forgot the appetizer and then brought the main dishes.

Kamryn B.

Yelp
Simply amazing. Super fresh salmon and the tempura rocks my world. I get the Philly roll and add everything but the bagel seasoning from Trader Joe's and oh man. Best combo ever with a tiny bit of wasabi. The ginger is the perfect palette cleanser. The fried veggies in the tempura are better than the shrimp dare I say. The sauce that it comes with it is full of depth and not too salty. One of my ultimate favorite places to get take out from. If you like fresh jalapeños with white fish (super star combo raw or not I swear) I recommend the Fairy Tale roll. It's not drenched in sauce so the protein is able to shine. I will always eat here. Thank you for making me a believer Nori Roll Team. Great work and I love you.

Yelp
So, my coworker has been raving about how good this place is and how I need to try it .... BLAH BLAH BLAH ... she comes to Nori often to pick up her lunch order! Anyways, I finally took my coworker's advice and tried this place out. I gave it the benefit of the doubt. She ordered two Philly rolls & I got the Alaskan roll and we both got an order each of Gyoza. I was excited to eat the Gyoza because she kept saying how she loves how Nori Roll cooks them and what not. I opened the box .... first glance, I didn't notice anything wrong until I looked closer .... There's a fly. I thought it was dead .... it's NOT. The fucking fly was laying it's eggs on the potsticker! I got sick to my stomach and killed the whole meal! I'm sorry but NEVER AGAIN!!

Yelp
This is our go to place for fresh tasty sushi. We started going here during COVID and have been a loyal customer ever since.
google avatar

Amabel Y.

Yelp
I ordered takeout via Uber Eats and this restaurant was listed as one of the top eats in the area. I figured it must be good! Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. I ordered the spicy tuna roll, 49er Roll and the killer hamachi. The spicy tuna roll tastes the best out of the three but it was lacking in presentation so it did not look appetizing. It seemed like they cut the sushi with a knife that's not sharpened so the sushi is slightly squished. The killer hamachi was not bad taste wise, only issue is that it's not visually pleasing to the eyes. Lastly the 49er roll was the most disappointing item out of the three. It tasted slight fishy from the unagi/salmon and was bitter from the lemon. It did not go well together. My tastebuds were a bit confused to say the least. Note to restaurant: You were too generous with the rice vinegar in the sushi rice. May want to use less! ;) Overall the service was quick and it arrived before the estimated arrival time, but the quality and presentation needs improvement. This is most likely a one time thing for me and would not try it again. Sorry!

Yelp
If you want a place that provides great quality sushi for an amazing price, do yourself a favor and come here. Not only do they have a loyalty system that gets you points, but the sushi here is also actually delicious. The owners of the shop are so nice and very wholesome. You can really tell from the interactions with the staff that they really care about the quality of the food and their value of customer service. I always get the Rising Sun. if you're a salmon lover, then definitely give this a try. I have no words for how tasty it was and it's now my regular purchase from here. The Baked Philly Roll is also good. I haven't really seen a Philly Roll that is baked but definitely tastes better warm. It is creamy and the salmon taste fresh. The only thing that I wish could improve is just the space. Of course, that's something that they can do in the long run if they want to. The food will still remain just as delicious. But I definitely want to be able to experience dining in with them and just enjoying the love from the staff there.

Yelp
** The following review reflects my takeout experience DURING the shelter-in-place order currently in effect. ** I've been worried about this tiny family-run business at the Peppermint Tree Plaza, the little strip mall on San Pablo Avenue near Central Avenue in El Cerrito. For over two years, they've been serving excellent Japanese food, in particular, their fresh-tasting sashimi and artisan sushi in a space no bigger than Mariah Carey's shoe closet. OK, maybe just her slingbacks. The hard-working young married couple do an amazing job, and their toddler is a charmer as she entertains herself on the floor. Jamie W. and I were taking a long walk along San Pablo Avenue and stopped by to see their front door turned into a takeout window. The owner recognized me right away and even remembered how much I liked their Hamachi Kama and Chirashi Don. Since we still had quite a walk ahead of us, we ordered portable goodies with the intention of finding an empty bench at which we could eat in solitude. We decided on the $4.75 Spicy Tuna Hand Roll and the $10.99 Rainbow Roll (photo: https://bit.ly/2V8vfMQ). Indeed we found a bench just a couple of blocks away as El Cerrito residents are known for their ample derrieres. OK, that may be a myth of my own making, but regardless, the quality of the rolls continues to impress. It's quite obvious the pandemic has not had any adverse effect on their immaculate preparation. FOOD - 5 stars...still impressive and so fresh AMBIANCE - n/a...purely takeout SERVICE - 5 stars...great family unit at work here TOTAL - 5 stars...surviving the pandemic just fine...and thank you RELATED - in the mood for sushi? Here's a collection of places I've tried and reviewed: https://bit.ly/2GSJsru

Yelp
AVOCADO MAKI ROLLS: found this spot in El Cerrito on a Friday night and could have easily missed it if I didn't have my GPS on. They were very quick and there was definitely a line out the door if people waiting for their orders . I ordered by phone and it was ready within 20 minutes on a Friday night. So glad I did because one customer ordered online and it seemed to be taking ages. This is a family owned business and the little daughter was actually playing in the front . They looked very busy but efficient. Food was pretty good but rolls were smaller that our usual place . Will definitely give them another try for sure tho!

Yelp
We love this restaurant and the family who runs it. Over the years so far we have enjoyed consistently delicious food, with consistently personalized attention to details. During pregnancy, they happily modified favorite menu items as requested. And upon introducing our toddler to their food, they have thought with us outside the box about what to offer that's age appropriate and delicious. They have even thrown in extra goodies, or our favorite sides we didn't order, or an extra piece of salmon or avocado. If we could afford to dine out more often we'd go here once a week or more. They are lovely and reliable, and a favorite of our whole family. We usually go to them for small family meals but have also catered a party with a sushi platter from here and it was fantastic.

Anna C.

Yelp
Pretty solid sushi! We ordered a few rolls for pick-up. The presentation was really nice, though I wish they included more wasabi and seaweed, or included them in both boxes. The futo maki is one of the better vegetarian options, so I would go with that! The other single-ingredient makis are a bit small (standard for most sushi places).

Yelp
I absolutely applaud and like the modern paint and mural of the interior on my repeat visit back for some rolls, and the place just looks tidier overall. This will definitely be my go to in a pinch... the lady at Kyoto take out on Solano never smiles and seems so unhappy. Me-- more than happy to patronize this Chinese family who works hard to keep the community satisfied with fish and other dishes! Tried 3 rolls.. fish fresh. Sushi rice is okay and overall roll making skills is also alright.

Yelp
Absolutely adore this place. I recently encountered this place in El Cerrito and decided it's probably the best one I've tried so far in that city. Prices are fairly reasonable and they usually always have specials. I remember the hamachi kama was about $5 which is a steal! I usually like to get some fresh sashimi from the Japanese market and a couple of sushi rolls here. I've been here 2 times - one time for dine in and one time for take out. They have 2-3 tables inside, pretty small dinning area, but they have plenty of online and phone orders. They are super quick in making the food, and portions are pretty nice. It's a family owned restaurant and they're really quick at getting the orders made and right to your table. Parking can be pretty limited when you come during peak hours since there's multiple businesses there. Surprisingly that plaza is so nice that there's Thai, Viet sandwiches, pizza etc. Usually I end up doing street parking right outside the plaza on San Pablo. My friends that came with me the first time were definitely fans of this place. My mom wasn't a fan of the baked mussel (she loves the ones from Alameda Sushi house). Some of the favorites - play boy roll and scallop roll. All in all, great experience, great food, and budget friendly!

Yelp
I've come to nori roll a few times now. It's a good option when I want to pre-order some sushi and do take out. Pros: -they have a small parking lot. There is also free street parking available. -my order is always ready on time -their fried California roll is one of my favorites on the menu -prices are reasonable Cons: -limited seating options for those that dine in
