Nothing is normal about this ice cream but I presume they named it "Normal Ice Cream" ironically. My friends and I had just finished up dinner and were looking for a sweet treat. We searched from some places nearby and Normal Ice Cream was a clear winner.
I used to live in Salt Lake City but I always forget about the cute charm that comes with the area, especially 9th and 9th. We drove by the whale and the shop itself gave the perfect Salt Lake City hipster vibe. This store was pretty small and we didn't have anywhere to sit, but man, it is a cute spot. They have all kinds of cute decor over by their seating area and it is probably even better in the summer when you can enjoy the ice cream outside.
I have never seen such a complex, simple menu before. Yes, you read that right. They have have ice cream, and a few different ways to get the ice cream, but man, their choices are out of this world! They have lavender (yucky bathtub flavor), honey, brownie batter, lemon, salted vanilla bean, and so much more. You can opt for a cup or a cone and top it with some unique things. They also offer other ice cream choices like ice cream sandwiches, "chocos", ice cream cakes, and ice cream pints. They also have some merch on display and it all has cute designs!
There was quite a few people working and they were great at tackling the line and getting everyone's orders out. I don't feel like my order took too long to get and it was exactly what I wanted.
I got some kind of ice cream concoction that made every single one of my friends laugh at me. It was the brownie batter ice cream, with marshmallow fluff, fruity pebbles, and brown butter milk crumb. Everyone reading this can hate all they want. Yes, it tasted like the floor of a daycare and I loved every bite. It was unlike any other ice cream I have ever had before. I especially loved the fruity pebbles on the top--it complemented the ice cream perfectly!
I really loved my visit at Normal Ice Cream and so did all of my friends. I would love to come back sometime this summer!
