Living at this apartment complex has been nothing short of a nightmare. The only elevator has been broken for an entire month now, making it incredibly difficult to get in and out, especially for anyone elderly or with mobility issues. My kitchen was infested with cockroaches, and even after pest control came out, nothing was resolved. The infestation continued without improvement. There was black mold in my bathroom, and all maintenance did was paint over it. It grew back within weeks. This was a serious health hazard for both me and my pets. Last summer, my refrigerator broke and it took four weeks to get a replacement. This summer, my central air conditioning never turned on. They gave me a small window unit as a temporary fix and never came back to actually repair the system. The trash and recycling dumpsters are constantly overflowing and spilling garbage into the parking lot which smells awful during the summer months. Packages are regularly stolen from the lobby with no security measures in place and no help from management. At this point, I’ve completely given up on even contacting maintenance. They are slow to respond, often don’t follow up, and communication is practically nonexistent. This complex is poorly managed and does the bare minimum—if that. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere.

The service at this apartment is unreliable at best. I have yet to receive help when calling the emergency line. My gas was unavailable for a week upon move in, and I had many issues with the electricity when first moving in.

I tried to apply to live at the Normandie as a full time student since this is supposed to be an Equal Housing Opportunity property and it was a HORRIBLE experience. For weeks the management constantly lead me on telling me that if I provided just "one more document to show proof of income" I would be guaranteed approval. They were aware that I had a deadline because school was starting within the next couple weeks, but continued to string me along. They told me that since I would not be employed DURING LAW SCHOOL that I needed to show proof of other forms of payment, which I did willingly each time. And each time they continued to tell me that it wasn't enough and when they told me a specific amount that I needed to show proof of I did it and it still wasn't enough. They didn't even provide me with a reason that my application was denied. Now it is less than a week before I start law school and I have no where to live. If they do business like this with a prospective tenant I would NOT recommend trying to live at this apartment. Save yourself the headache!
