Google
1st time at Norma's! Was not disappointed. Food looked so good and tasted amazing! Placed an order to go because I couldn't decide if I wanted breakfast or lunch 🤷🏽‍♀️ will be returning so I can try EVERYTHING on the menu.

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Norma’s Café , Dallas Great place for classic Southern comfort food! The portions are big, the staff is friendly, and the pies are amazing. It’s a cozy, old-school diner vibe perfect for breakfast or lunch. Definitely worth a visit!

Jesús Armendariz

Google
Staff are very kind and attentive, the food portions are amazing and the prices are great. However, the food does not sit well with me. Sometimes, it taste good, other times, not so much. Although I have only gone twice, the best thing i’ve tried is their biscuits.

Google
It’s like supper at grandma’s house! What a cute place with a happy staff! The food is amazing…chicken fried steak, carrots, fried okra cooked to perfection…and delicious rolls and butter. And look at those pies!!

"I recently visited The Normas Cafe for breakfast and was thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed morning meal. I order chilaquiles and it was absolutely delicious! My daughters tried the mac n cheese and mini corn dogs with fries and they love it. The service was also excellent; our server was friendly, attentive, and efficient, thanks to the manager Alicia for making my daughters fell noted. Overall, Normas cafe is a great spot for breakfast, offering a delicious menu, a warm atmosphere.

Google
First of all, of course, Normas is always busy and they still manage to take good care of you, they make you feel like you're at home. Our server Judi was a Godsent. She went over and above board when it came to take of us. The food was spectacular. Judi, Just make it a pleasure tipping. First time at this location and loved it. I don't easily rate places high likeI'm this. But once again they earned the high rating my best friend choose the spot. High five to all the staff. I hope the owners appreciate would good help. They have not only at this location. The north dallas location.

Google
I was here last month with a few family friends for brunch, and I'm not sure how I had never been here before that point despite having always lived here. Either way, I certainly wasn't disappointed. As much as I'd have liked to try more from the "breakfast" selection, the grilled chicken sandwich didn't disappoint me. It may have had a little too much lettuce for my liking (just messy), but I'd recommend it if you want a somewhat healthier alternative here. With the restaurant having its charm and wonderful service, I'd happily return and recommend those in the area consider stopping here.

First time stop here! Love the atmosphere love the decor and the service. Food was good and service was fast.

Yelp
Norma's Cafe offers a classic diner experience with a warm welcome and genuine hospitality. From the moment you step in, you're greeted with a smile and a friendly hello, setting the tone for a cozy dining experience. The atmosphere exudes that classic diner charm, making you feel right at home. The food, prepared with love, captures the essence of home cooking, with every dish crafted to perfection. Our server, Julie, added to the wonderful experience with attentive and friendly service. If you're craving comfort food in a welcoming setting, Norma's Cafe is the place to be. My bad I had the double cheeseburger and smashed it. It was good tho.

Yelp
We had the absolute worst service here. I've always considered myself a fan of Norma's. Grew up eating at the Oak Cliff location. The food came out hot and quickly but everything that the server had to do we never got. Ordered waters and diet cokes, never got the waters, the diet cokes arrived well after we got our corn bread and rolls and our appetizers. My husband never received his side salad. Refills were never offered and to add insult to injury the drinks she did finally bring were so full of ice there was probably only a half cup of liquid in each one. She never came back to see if we got everything or to check on the food. We overheard her urge another customer not to order anything additional because the they were busy. Just terrible customer service. In fact, my husband even works in the service industry and he was appalled at how bad it was. We almost contemplated walking out and leaving cash on the table. It was that bad. It seemed like other customers were given water and refills and such so I'm not sure why we were singled out. I know that being busy can impact customer service but to this extent was pretty egregious.

Yelp
Love it here! I come with a few friends probably once a month. Sweet staff, great food, big portions, reasonable prices. Amazing pie!!!
google avatar

Justin M.

Yelp
Horrible service. Repeatedly overlooked while newer guests were served drinks and bread and I didn't even get a hello. I asked the host who was my server and his response "I don't even know" and shrugged his shoulders.

James M.

Yelp
The host sat me and I waited 10 minutes and nobody acknowledged me at all. I would understand if it was busy but it wasn't at all. I was looking around trying to find a server. Once I stood up and looked behind the counter I saw them eating. That's when I decided to leave. I would like to believe that a manger wasn't there because this is a terrible representation of the brand. If the manager was there, please do better training. Or hire people that actually care.

Yelp
Such a great old fashioned diner ! Good southern cooking ! Highly recommend the chicken fried steak or the Mac and Cheese burger! All very good! You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu ! Note- they are recently short staffed so you have to be patient with service being a little slower. But they are working to there best ability right now.

Timothy H.

Yelp
I'd give Norma's 3.5 stars. We ended up at Norma's after I had surgery on my eye. It was about 11:30, but this place was packed with the breakfast crowd still. I had the breakfast platter which was delicious. Two eggs over medium were done right. Hash browns and biscuit with sausage gravy was done to perfection. My wife had the berry french toast and she said it was good but she couldn't eat all of it. My MIL had a senior breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast. She didn't say she liked it but I didn't here her complain either. Service was good considering the place was packed from breakfast and lunch crowd arriving too. The dinner looks like a typical dinner. The ambiance is nothing fancy but the food is good.

Yelp
Great food, great service and worth the money. I love their platter that has a variety you can also get half size which is its enough for one person.

Yelp
Super cute cafe that some would say is a DFW staple. I finally got the chance to try, great! The service we received from Yoana(spelling?) was top notch, great!! I think she made it even more special. I ordered the CBGB, it was huge! The chicken tenders rocked! Everything was great, hash browns still crispy underneath all of the toppings. I do wish there was a little more gravy, ate a little dry on some of it. But I will still order that same thing again!! This was enough for another meal, worth the price. I hope management sees how great of a worker they have!!!

Yelp
Good. Simple. No fuss about it diner food! Enjoyed the nostalgic 50's vibes decorated within every inch of the walls as well as old school music in the background. Want to pop in to a spot with no wait and food hot and ready within 10 min? Come here. Looking for bottomless mimosas, and a more modern experience, go somewhere else.

Yelp
I come here often because where I volunteer is right across the street. The service is always good and the food is even better. As you can see from my plate I enjoyed myself and I forgot to take a picture ahead of time. Angeles took great care of us.

Lisa G.

Yelp
Love the diner type atmosphere. A big variety menu. My husband had breakfast tacos, and I had the chicken cornbread stuffing dish. Delicious! Big portions for great prices. Our server Shelby, was excellent. Very friendly and attentive to our order. She made our dining experience that much more pleasant! We will be returning

Nichole M.

Yelp
We came to Dallas from Los Angeles to visit family and all 15 of us came here for breakfast. They didn't balk at our giant party- they just put tables together and were so gracious and kind about it. Service and food were amazing! Portions are super generous- we're big eaters and my cousin and I easily shared a breakfast and both were well satisfied. THEN, when we went to our car, my husband realized he left our rental car key fob on the table. We went back in and they had already cleared the tables and no one found a key. AMAZING Angie (I don't even know her position at the restaurant) went into the kitchen and actually dug through the food waste from our table in case it actually got swept up by the busboy into the bussing bin. The busser jumped in to help- the whole staff was looking for our key and trying to help! AND, they all did it with a smile- They were truly trying to help and all felt so bad when they couldn't find our key. Its turns out, one of the cousins thought it would be funny to see how long it would take for my husband to realize he couldn't find our key and had, herself, forgotten that she played the prank and left the restaurant with our key in her purse! Angie, after learning of this prank, didn't get mad! She laughed with us and was just so glad we had our key. We will back here every time we're in town because it's not only good food and service, it's AMAZING PEOPLE! Thank you to Angie and the Crew at Norma's!

Sheryl G.

Yelp
Service was horrible. When the rolls and cold cornbread was delivered they only brought three plates for a party of five. Of those three plates two were dirty. I had to ask for clean ones and two extra plates and one of those was still dirty. Waitress never came back to see the food was or refill any drinks. Coffee was cold. Took forever to get our check would've understood if they were busy.

Joanne O.

Yelp
We went on a Sunday about 1030-no wait. Service was great. The food was home cooked fresh. All plates were cleared so I would say a success. Our table also had the meatloaf plate, grilled pork chops & pancakes with sausage. Will definitely back next time in the neighborhood.

Yelp
I placed an online order for pickup that was supposed to be ready at 11:33. It was not actually ready until about 45 minutes after that. I got home and the eggs were sitting in a nasty liquid because they weren't cooked all the way. The pie looks like the cream is separating from improper storage. They also didn't include the biscuit that came with my order. After such a long wait, I would have at least expected my order to be correct. I might return to Norma's, but it definitely won't be to this location.

Yelp
We wanted light and this was the place. It's in a strip mall next to a Thai place. Don't bother with the Thai place if you are looking for good Texas food. We went light and split the Cat Fish. It came with 2 sides. We ordered the mashed potatoes. Real mashed potatoes and country gravy. It is amazing. It came with 2 pieces of cat fish, ample pieces and a great tartar sauce. It's also served with a hush puppy and homemade roll and corn bread muffin. The breads were delicious. The menu has so many things I would like to try... Our waitress was new but enjoyable. The atmosphere is down home Texas flavor! Yummy yummy yummy.

Yelp
Well, what's a trip back home without a stop at an ol' school diner? Well, well, well, Norma's cafe, you won this gluten-free boy over with your cozy booths covered in Texas flags, with your Knick-knacks/antiques on the walls, your large portions of food, your big biscuits and your lovely waiting staff with their deep southern accents, and the big ol' fellas who loosen their belts to fit more food in their big ol' bellies. Norma's cafe is everything you want and need in a Texas diner. Trust me. Wear sweatpants. You've been advised

Carly N.

Yelp
Wonderful food, friendly service, amazing deserts! Very Americana style, homestyle food, reasonable pricing. I go once a month or so and always enjoy it!
google avatar

Melody T.

Yelp
Norma's is a little overrated IMO. It wasn't very clean, the service was off and Iv had better food at other local diner type spots. It was really just ok but I'd give it another shot.
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
My husband and I have been going to Norma's every Sunday morning for years. We both grew up here but did not become regulars until recently. The wait staff and food at Norma's are what keeps us coming back. It is always a pleasure to see Gizmo every Sunday. She usually has our space set and our drinks ready. We get our food within 5 minutes of ordering it. Even though she is super busy she makes sure to ask about our week and how things are going. We also love how she decorates the place for every holiday. Pam is also a wonderful waitress. She lives near us so always wants to hear about the latest events in the neighborhood. Maria is also just so warm and friendly. I wish I knew the name of the cook in the back that always waves to us. So glad Norma's is still in Oak Cliff and still going strong. Not sure what we would do without it. Love all y'all!
google avatar

Cindi B.

Yelp
Every Norma's Cafe has never disappointed me. If you want down-home southern cooking; this is your place. It can get busy so watch the time you go. Once there, enjoy it all!

Yelp
Great spot for some decent comfort food. Delicious BLT with crisp bacon and fresh lettuce & tomatoes - it was so GOOD! Service was friendly and spot on.

Food is really good here. Never had any problems with staff they are always on point. They have great food portions and the food is so good, that's why I always come back! They also have daily specials and breakfast served all day. Definitely recommend coming here!

Yelp
Paid $15.00 for this burger and this is what I received- burnt fries, wilted brown lettuce- trashed - never ordering again!

Yelp
Always love Norma's! The chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak are amazing. The service is amazing too!

Yelp
Not sure what happened to my original review for this location, but here we go again! Mile High Meringue on pies. That should be all you need to know to Want to come here! While not really a mile high, there is a LOT of meringue on their pies! I've easily eaten at this location or did to go/curbside 50 times. Since the other Texas/Southern Homestyle restaurants have closed/gone out of business, this place is my go to for chicken fried steaks or rib sticking breakfasts. The food is consistently good. Service is consistently good as well. They have it down to a science. My last meal with them was inside. It was a chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes with white cream and peppered gravy. I started the meals with buttered jalapeno corn bread and a side salad drowning in ranch dressing. The main course was a true round steak chicken fried steak with a golden crispy and tender breading. The mashed potatoes were spot on with plenty of gravy. I always add carrots as they are always good. This is a fine Texas meal, providing you have it with iced tea and then follow it with a meringue pie. My last take home was the same meal (just a different day in case you wonder). The difference is the packaging takes away some of the wonderment seeing all of that meal on one plate. The other difference is the to go salad containers are somewhat smaller.

L W.

Yelp
Good food, excellent service, excellent price and value. Parking is a bit challenging due to inadequate spots to serve neighboring businesses.
google avatar

Carolyn T.

Yelp
I normally don't like to give bad reviews but this one was really bad. My hash browns was crispy and cold just like my chicken fried chicken. The waitress was not friendly. I had to asked for napkins. Services is better at night than the morning.

Yelp
I went to Norma's today, Saturday, March 11, 2023 around 5:00 p.m. I was highly disappointed in the service and food. When I arrived, I was told they were out of bread and did not receive any bread the whole time I was there. I ordered Chicken and Dumplings ala carte and was charged almost $15.00. The chicken and dumplings were really dry. I asked for cranberry sauce and he brought me one small container with my meal. I asked for more but never received it. I had to flag him down to ask for a straw, and every time I needed something, I had to flag him down, with the only exception was when he came to get my payment. I told him I never did receive any bread, and he said well, they were out and besides that, it was complimentary. This was not a proper response. Service and food was poor. I normally go to Norma's in Plano. I will never go back to this Norma's again and will discourage others from going there.

Yelp
Good simple down home cookin that is served hot and fresh. The servers are very attentive and checked on us often. Prices are reasonable too
google avatar

Toni W.

Yelp
Consistently good comfort food and friendly servers. Today was the first time I walked i. And ordered to go. Amber was very helpful and attentive and look forward to seeing her again. The food still as good as dining in and by far my favorite Norma's location.
google avatar

Bill H.

Yelp
Nice people, horrible hash browns. Ordered toast with my eggs over easy and by the time it showed up my breakfast was consumed. Biscuits we're ok. I like a good breakfast and don't mind paying for it but you have to have the basics down like hash browns & toast or I will look elsewhere. I believe a new cooks in order at Norma's.
google avatar

Kim M.

Yelp
Ordered dinner to go for myself and my mom. This place has really gone downhill in service and quality. The hostess was not at the front when I got there to pick up my order, which would not havre been an issue, but she had the worst attitude. Greeted her three times before getting a half-hearted greeting back. The food wasn't much better. Eatible but super bland. Won't be back .
google avatar

Max G.

Yelp
We went to Norma's for dessert, and really wish we had saved the calories. The coconut cream pie and pecan pie were horrible--much too sweet and poor flavor. The blackberry cobbler and chocolate cake were mediocre. The best thing about Norma's was the Melody, our server. She was friendly and fantastic.
google avatar

Fabian R.

Yelp
Early morning hunger pains lead me here. The place is located on the backside of the building, opposite the TJMaxx. It gives me road-trip or after church feelings from when I was a kid. A pleasant woman greeted me and assisted in placing my togo order of French toast, eggs, sausage and hash browns($17). The food was great, the traditional flavors you could expect. Stop by if you're in town.

Yelp
My friends and I were craving breakfast after an early Sunday service and decided to swing by Norma's. Atmosphere: The atmosphere is very old school. Kind of like the older days of a typical diner. The restaurant was following covid-19 protocols by placing a barrier between tables. Also people have to wait outside to be seated and for their names to be taken down. Probably not the best idea during the winter time, unless they give a text out for when their table is ready. Service: The employees were all kind and pleasant to be around. Our waitress was probably not the best as she was really slow and couldn't multi task which lead her to forget some things. But overall, she was sweet and was helpful. Food: I ordered the CBGB, which is tenders and bacon that is stacked on top of a biscuit, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, and cheese. Then it is topped off with some gravy. To be honest, this was quite filling and heavy for me. But the flavor was not just there for me, seemed as if it was lacking some more seasoning. The tenders were fairly dry. I would say the gravy was on point, but there was not enough on the dish. I had to ask for an extra side of gravy. Apparently they are known for their pies, so that is something I will have to try next time I go here.

Yelp
Just a nice cafe style restaurant serving comfort food. Service was good and the food was tasty.

Alyssa M.

Yelp
Fantastic food - can't go wrong with the chicken fried steak or the chicken fried chicken. Been going here for years and have never left unsatisfied! Also great prices for how much you get. Highly recommend Norma's!
google avatar

Yelp
Should have done a copy/paste from Google. Cannot envision delivery again. * UBER EATS never let's me down. This is all on Norma's Cafe
google avatar

M E.

Yelp
We went there a couple of weeks ago about two hours before closing time. The food was ok, but they were out of chicken and several sides. They were also out of butter for rolls and cornbread. That was strange.

The Whole P.

Yelp
Gizmo is the best! Ask for her! Food was great too! Friendly and fun for a Saturday morning breakfast!
google avatar

Carolyn C.

Yelp
The food was good. The service was good. The ambience was nice for a quiet sit and chat.

David J.

Yelp
So for decades we went to the original Oak cliff location. After they implemented a new computer system that hamstrung waitresses so they could either take orders or leave their device at a table to pay and had a change of leadership, they lost the seasoned people and despite a near empty place, couldn't turn tables or get food out hot. So for a year or more, we just quit. Then we tried this location. The manager is very present and involved. They still have the same hamstringing system, but a few of their staff have mastered work arounds, mainly Ava. If you ask for her, you will have an experience that you expect to have. No problems and timely service.
google avatar

Dan P.

Yelp
I just went into Norma's and Debi is back!!! Marked safe since the old manager is gone. Food is delicious service is great (Judi was my server) all is good now that Debi is back

Lee M.

Yelp
Really not good. Eggs way under cooked and pancakes ice cold. Bacon barely cooked and we asked for crispy. Just not a good experience.

Deb T.

Yelp
Food was all - Bland, had it delivered. Chicken fried chicken, gravy bland also, green beans too salty to eat and carrots too sweet to eat. Roll was exceptionally good!
google avatar

Igor J.

Yelp
Do not order from this place. We ordered on 5/14 delivery for 4 people through Door Dash. Driver delivered dinner but half of it was missing. Chicken tender meals with sides were missing. We pointed this out to the driver right away. Poor driver went to the restaurant to get the missing half of the order. The manager told him they ran out of chicken and tough sledding. Not even an apology. They said submit a case with Door Dash to get a refund. So here we are an hour later dealing with this on Mother's day and my wife now has to cook dinner after we wasted all this money. I cannot imagine a more terrible customer service. Avoid this place at all cost.

Yelp
When I came here on a Saturday afternoon, it was still called Norma's Cafe. Maybe since the COVID-19 pandemic ownership has changed? Not sure how that affects the menu. Nonetheless, here's my review... I've been wanting to visit Norma's for a while, as I follow them on Instagram and love the photos. I finally found the opportune time after getting a vitamin drip across the street at Vitalife Wellness. I really enjoy a good diner and was looking forward to ordering breakfast to-go (served all day). They were out of smoked turkey and didn't offer a pork alternative, so I made the switch to a patty melt with fries instead...can't go wrong with that, or so I thought. I did eat it because I was hungry, but honestly I was disappointed and didn't enjoy it. It was very greasy and the fries were just mediocre. Like another reviewer mentioned, it wasn't worth the calories. I'm typically health-conscious, so it was a bit of a bummer. Maybe you'll have better luck.
