I visited Norms for the very first time, and I have to say, I was genuinely impressed. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed. The staff was incredibly kind, attentive, and seemed truly invested in making sure I had a good experience. For a first visit, that immediately set a positive tone. The atmosphere is cozy, relaxed, and has that classic American diner charm. It’s warm, inviting, and makes it easy to feel comfortable right away. The food itself completely won me over. The portions were generous and freshly prepared. I really appreciated how everything was simple but seasoned with care. You can tell they prioritize quality without trying to be overly fancy. My meal arrived quickly, piping hot, and it was obvious it came straight from the kitchen. I also found the pricing very fair. For the amount and quality of food you get, it’s definitely worth it. Overall, it felt like the kind of place where you just enjoy sitting down for a meal—whether you’re alone, with friends, or with family. For my first time at Norms, the experience was thoroughly enjoyable, and I truly loved it. I will definitely be coming back!

I love Norms for their food, but this location is definitely the best one! Rodrigo is a fantastic friendly server, excellent service. Store is managed by Sean who gave us a good greeting. Music is classic vibes. This whole location is definitely a good family inviting atmosphere.

Food is well prepared. Service is excellent. We have our coffee refilled many times. I like the atmosphere. Its clean and huge. Highly recommended.

LUZ was AMAZING! We always appreciate an attentive server. She made sure to check on us, she kept our drinks filled, and she knew the menu very well. The food was delicious. 🤤 I don’t live in the area but I would definitely go back if I ever returned. I never had Norms before so this was a great first experience

Very pleasant place. No issues. Very friendly and helpful staff. Gave us appropriate time to decide on food. Our party of 4 had eggs Benedict (good), SoCal Breakfast (ate all, usually doesnt), cheeseburger (delicious), and a hamburger (good). All were good prices. Atmosphere was very chill, no one too loud, and a good group around the time we were there. We always love Norms. This will be the 3rd one we have ate at.

Great customer service, our waiter Jesus was wonderful. He was very friendly and helpful. He was very attentive, one of the best waiter service we have ever experienced. The establishment was really clean and well kept. Personal was friendly. The food was really good, I had the clubhouse sandwich and it was delicious. Prices have gone up, but the portions are reasonable. Plenty of seating and spacious.

The El Monte location is always a good vibe and food is never disappointing. The staff is so pleasant. You ever have a bad day, just come to Norm's and zone out to the oldie bangers they play in the radio. My waitress was Rosa was awesome. 😎😎

Very nice establishment. Food is better than decent. Always make this stop on our way home to Phoenix from anywhere in California.

This is for the El Monte location on the corner of Valley and Santa Anita. Looks quiet from the street but it was packed with diners at noon...we happened by coming from the nearby El Monte airport...so decided to pop in....its been a while since I've dined at any Norms. Got the Bigger Better Breakfast...eggs scrambled and fluffy 5/5, along with two bacon (thick slices, hard like beef jerky) 1/5... single hand-sized slice of ham (not salty or overly cured) 5/5...the two sausages looked too well cooked and dry, it looked like it tasted 3/5...had a choice of hash browns 2/5, fruit. Home fries....had a choice of toast or pancakes ....the toaste was well buttered on both sides 5/5....a large dollop of butter on top of the well-made shareable pancakes. 5/5 my hash browns were crispy on outside and a generous portion, my mom got a cold icy middle in hers, hence the low score...we didn't alert our server since she never returned to check in. So we'll just cook it at home as a left over. For a nearly $4 cuppa, I wish I had gotten a touch-up or two, though I think the eait staff were shorthanded that afternoon. We boxed up our own leftovers with nearby available boxes. Our server didnt rush us, she was friendly at ordering, delivering the food and at dropping off the check without having to be flagged down. Fast. Efficient. Three stars due to inattentive service and cold hash browns, just wished we could've had a couple coffee touchups and a chance to send back the hashbrowns for a refire. Otherwise, it was a pleasant breakfast in a noisy loud family atmosphere...this afternoon we were surrounded by young families with infants, and toddlers, and young children. There's a counter area for singletons or adults who don't want to sit near babies and little kids. I loved the way Norms modernized yet kept that orange-Creamsicle retro vibe. Parking was ample and free.

This place is pretty standard..similar to most other locations. The difference is, I've always received great service here, whether dining in or online order picking up . On my most recent visit, though, the staff checked on me several times. While attentive, it felt a little distracting since I was also in the middle of handling an online money transfer. I was surprised that the boba fizzy can be refilled and after 2 glasses I was on sugar crush .. This location does not appear to be very busy in the afternoon compare with other locations, parking was always easy. I really like the country skillet I had last time, but I could not find it on a menu anymore. For healthier choice, I usually get salmon filet blackened and it's decent w rice pilaf.

I want to say Marciano and Isela were great. The seats were sticky from previous customers and they quickly cleaned it and offered other tables as well but we stayed. Marciano is a hard worker and so is everyone here. Isela was attentive and whatever condiments we needed or other things she was quick to help. Minus one star for the ribs. I've had a previous good experience before but this time the ribs were dry. I didn't bother returning it. I think I will stick with the sirloin from here on.

This was my first visiting this Norms location. I was expecting excellent service as I have received at other locations however that was not the case. The service was extremely slow considering there were only two other parties in the restaurant at that time. It took a while for the food to come out and they had ran out of the item I ordered. My server didn't check up on my table until the very end. Overall, it was a disappointing visit.

My family came to have breakfast today and the food and service was super delicious. We had Amber as a server and she was extremely courteous and attentive. Manager was friendly too! The restaurant and restroom were clean . Will be back. A+

This norms is hands down the best one I've been too! The customer service is AMAZING! Everyone there is so kind and welcoming! We needed to get some work done and they accommodated us, the manager sat us by an outlet and made sure we had what we needed! I believe the gentleman's name is Sean (Shawn) not sure I spelled it correctly! Honestly the service and ambiance was 10/10 the good was great and they kept the coffee coming!

Norms is not the best place for food, but if you want a lot of food for the price you pay...Norms it is. The chicken was chewy and tasteless. Aiya! The veggies and mushrooms were bland, even Tapatio couldn't help! SMH! The plus side, I loved my waitress, Luz! Luz was extremely attentive, kind, and accommodating! She always came to check up on me, even though she had a full house to serve! Luz would constantly stop by to ask if I needed my coffee refill. Even before she took her break, she made sure I was taken care of! I was treated like royalty! God bless her! Luz deserves 5 stars! The quality of food- 2 stars The quantity of food- 4 stars Now, the math! (5s+2s+4s)/3= 3.6 stars, rounding down = 3 stars. I think it's fair!

Fake meats. Never seen a white steak. Is this the meat real. Texture and taste is awful.

On a Sunday morning at 9:30am in September for breakfast with my family. It waited few minutes for a booth. Inside looks clean and it wasn't too busy. Our waiter seems lice and we ordered social breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausage, extra crust hash browns and pancakes. The pancakes came out last while we eat our first plate. Everything taste fine and the pancakes was fluffy and good. The service is slow on refills of water. As we were leaving, I almost got knocked down by a homeless guy who was entering then leaving. Came in for an early weekend breakfast with my partner & brother and Isela immediately had us seated & checked in on us regularly throughout our meal. We ordered a Country Skillet with a side of pancakes, a California Omelette with white toast, a Sirloin Steak & Eggs with strawberry pancakes, and orange juice all around. It's been a while since we've actually sat down in the restaurant, so it was a really nice to enjoy the peace & quiet with company. Isela made us feel really nice & comfortable Always love having Norms for breakfast!

I stopped in to Norm's the other day or with a group of my friends. It's been awhile since I've entered a Norms. Norms is an institution and there's definitely a lot of nostalgia that comes with it. There used to be one not too far away from me but it had closed it down years ago. I was pleasantly surprised how great this meal was. we got here maybe close 10 at night and the place was fairly packed. I remembered that back in the day they were known for their steak and eggs so of course I got the steak and eggs. Our waitress very helpful they were able to go through the menu with us and made a couple suggestions. The steak and eggs came with a choice of toast or hot cakes and also hash browns. The hot cakes were surprisingly great. I ended up substituting the hash browns for a baked potato for an extra cost. They do have a parking lot that they share with some of the other businesses there are but there is plenty of parking in and around the area. Be sure to follow the street signs that lead up to the restaurant. Some of the intersections there's only one way to get in and don't be making any illegal u-turn such as what I almost did. Norms is a very cool diner to come and get some delicious food here in El Monte.

First of all the last time I ate breakfast here it was so good and the service was excellent. This time was complete opposite. I asked for water. The glass that was given to me looked dirty and yellow, the water wasnt clear and i should have taken a photo but I returned it and did not ask for another. I ordered the eggs benedict. The bread was so tough to cut through and very chewy. I'm sure it wasn't fresh. And as soon as the waitress Yesenia brought my food she brought my bill. Usually when you are at a nice restaurant the server will offer you refills or ask if you need anything and bring the bill when you request it or ask if you are finished eating. This wasnt the case. I'm so disappointed When I paid at the cashier I told them I didnt enjoy my meal.

Stopped by Norms for a casual meal and left super impressed. Our server, Isela, was friendly, fast, and really attentive -- the kind of service that makes you feel welcome right away. The food came out hot and fresh!

Updated menu - lots of great options. Busy Sunday, but Isela and the team worked hard to be attentive and helpful. Frequent visitor, I always enjoy quick service, chill environment, and good classic food.

How disappointing. We came here at 9pm Friday night in hopes of enjoying their 75th anniversary menu. NORMS website links to this article: https://secretlosangeles.com/norms-75-cent-pancakes-hot-cakes/ which confirms the menu is offered 9/25/2024-1/8/2025 between 7am-11pm. Our server Lucy (perhaps there was a language barrier?) stated they weren't offering that menu right now but the sausage biscuit and gravy for $7.99 would be the only thing available. My BF didn't want me to escalate it so I didn't. However, what Lucy says contradicted the website and online ordering options. Unless the 75th menu is only available for take out orders, I'm truly saddened and disappointed not to be able to try their special menu.

Food was good service good my waiter was very attentive getting me whatever I needed overall vibe good only complaint I have is the price of a coffee is 4$ seems kind of high to me as it wasn't very good and was only warm I like my coffee piping hot lol but that's just a preference Over all good experience! Would recommend

Today at breakfast there was no wait Isela was our server, she was very attentive, efficient and friendly. Food was tasty, good quantity and free coffee refills. It was pretty quiet even though was a full house We a steak pancakes and ribs.

Looking for late night snack. Some in the party wanted dessert but half rack ribs had me at $5.99. Smaller portion but that certainly works for me. There was a slight miscommunication in the party. Asked for chocolate cake and received chocolate shake. Manager who brought the shake said not a problem. Left the shake (no charge) and brought a slice of cake. Normally do not come to this location but I appreciate the great service.

El Monte location is pretty large. Clean and bright atmosphere. Service was friendly. Parking close to entrance is minimal. Food is as good as most other locations. It's convenient and easy to get in and out. Lots of room to sit while waiting for a table. Breakfast Bar seating available as well.

It's been 7 years since I last visited this place and i vowed never to come back, but I was down in the dumps. I just quit my job, have no idea when I'm gonna make money again and I was hungry. The closest thing open at the time was Norms so I decided to head in. I was greeted by the warm staff and they sat me right away. I ordered the country fried steak and got my salad and coup. The staff were was so nice and accommodating. They even asked if I wanted extra dressing for my salad or if I wanted a refill. The service was so nice it made all of my worries go away and made me believe that there are good people still out there. Ever since then, I stop by this Norm's every chance I get and they treat me here like family.

If I could give this discusting place a ZERO ! I WOULD. The place is Filthy all the way down to the stinky bathroom. We ordered pancakes with sausage, they were so COLD, the watered down coffee was hotter than the meal. When I told the waitress the meal was cold, she said "why didn't you tell me? Well, you never came back to our table, and isn't food supposed to be served hot/warm and not COLD. Save yourselves and your money. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Was surprised I had to wait even though a lot of tables were open around 6 pm. They were certainly understaffed at the time so don't really blame them. Service was pretty slow and had to flag down the waiters whenever I wanted something. In terms of the food I tried out these. Gumbo and salad - Decent appetizer, gumbo was tasty although not too different from a canned one. Salad was plain but otherwise refreshing. (3/5) Cajun Tator Tots- A must get for an appetizer. Good flavors and was crispy. Came with a noice sauce. (5/5) Country fried chicken breast - One of my chicken breasts was almost inedible and rubbery, most likely overcooked to no tomorrow. Besides that inedible piece the dish itself was Alrite. Baked potato was good. (2/5) Classic sirloin steak trio - Asked for medium rare and got more like medium/ well done. A tad salty and steak was Alrite. Crispy shrimp was good though. (2.5/5) Not sure why I was craving this but I finally got to try it out. Will I be back? Most likely not since prices aren't even that cheap anymore. Spent about $46 for mediocre food. Long waits as well.

Great place if you're tired after work and don't have the time or energy to cook. Food is affordable and great for what you pay. Alani was my server tonight. Best waitress, always treats me like family. Just what I need after a long hard day at work. Thank you Norms!

Food is good and service is great! We come here once in a while because they usually update their menu every season I think. I like to try new stuffs and their soup and salad that comes with the meal are usually good. My kids also loves it since they have free refills on some cool drinks, the hot chocolate and this time my kid tried the frizzy boba, and they let her refill 3 times with 3 different flavors! So she tried them all.

I was serviced by Isela at the Norms in El Monte and she was great. I appreciated her great skole and attention to detail, she continually checked in our table to make sure everything was good.

Great food..as always!! VERY CLEAN RESTAURANT AND ESPECIALLY THE BATHROOMS! ISELA, our waitress, was just so helpful and caring. We are a tough table, as we have 2 disabled seniors eating, but she helped us navigate the menu with the biggest smile! Joked around with us and we could tell that she loved her job and her customers. She is a gem of a server and deserves a bigger tip than we could afford to leave this time... We will look forward to sitting at one of her tables in the near future. All the staff were kind and helpful with any further requests we had and they looked like they enjoyed working there. The music was great (50's & 60's pop rock) The Baby BBQ ribs were outstanding! Thanks to you ALL for a wonderful dinner..we WILL be back!!

5 star only for ISELA , amazing satisfied 10/10 made sure everything was perfect , the food was great , she served us with good Attiude & made sure we didn't leave without desert haha
