North Beach Pizza - Review - Cole Valley - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"North Beach Pizza is one of your only late-ish food options in Cole Valley (open until 10pm weeknights, and 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays). While the pies at this Bay Area mini-chain are essentially bread with sauce, they’ll still absolutely hit the spot after losing your voice screaming at a TV atKezar Pub. Get a pepperoni slice, inhale it at the standing counter outside, and be on your way." - Julia Chen

We ordered delivery, Chris was polite, speedy and made good time. We ordered two Twin Peak Hawaiians, one with dairy free cheese. They tasted great, would definitely order again but maybe a smaller size next time as the medium was huge. Absolutely recommend them.

Matt F.

Google
Pretty solid pizza spot. The Coit is tasty and has some really good flavor. Quality meats and cheese. I added the parm and herbs and it took it up a notch. I love that they sell by the slice too! I also recommend the mushroom and pepperoni. It goes hard!

Scott W.

Google
Grabbed some slices after my son’s basketball game. I might have high standards after visiting NYC last month. We got cheese and sausage slices. Both weren’t very fresh or hot. Customer service was very good. Prices were reasonable.

Google
In the day this was the place to order a great pizza. Over the last year or so quality of the pizza has declined, prices of skyrocketed and delivery has gotten terrible. Tonight my pizza was more than a half hour late, ice cold and the driver was trying to deliver to my next door neighbor. When I called to complain I was told the pizza was taken out of the oven hot. REALLY?????? That's a shocker! Friday at 8:00 Will not be going back as there are so many other pizza options that are so much better and more reasonable.

Google
Wish I would’ve taken some pictures of the food, we went after a track meet and the food was delicious and hot, and the place was so busy but the gentleman working were still very friendly and helpful and calm . The garlic bread with cheese was the most delicious amazing thing we’ve ever had , the pizza slices were so amazing and big, I just can’t say enough about this place it’s just a little corner place but truly it’s a must go place. Worth every penny and it’s not expensive.

Google
In search of delicious pizza in San Francisco, I was recommended North Beach Pizza by a friend. A visit to the establishment left me content with both the ambiance and cuisine. The pizzas we devoured were exceptional.

Howard K.

Google
Ordered a salad and chicken wrap. Was overcharged. Greek salad was decent although no Greek dressing. However, do NOT get chicken here. I saw them cook it — chunks of frozen pre-cooked chicken that was gummy and tasteless. Would not return — many other better options.

Google
The food in this place is amazing and the staff is very friendly. I had a minestrone soup, a slice of cheese pizza, chef's salad and steamed veggies. Everything was delicious and the salad was fresh and crispy. The steamed veggies were not overcooked which for me it's a big plus. If you're around the Golden Gate park area you have to try their food. You won't be disappointed. One last thing, try the bread! 😄

Yelp
Open late, near UCSF hospital. Appreciated the amount of sauce but crust was a little thick for my liking.

Yelp
Meh. Good location for a slice. I live good pizza, and this pizza chain feels like the real deal. However, at the end of the day, the dough isn't super fresh or soft and easy to chew. The sausage is good. The slices are greasy so you'll definitely need to blot before biting in. Reliable and the guy at the counter is friendly.

Yelp
It's such a great neighborhood spot, conveniently located right across from the park, Kezar, and some amazing local bars. The place is run by the friendliest, most welcoming people who greet you like family the moment you walk in. I don't even mind eating my pizza on the bench outside,it's part of the charm, especially when you're with friends. And the pizza itself is really good! This time, I even remembered to take a picture before digging into my slices.

Yelp
We were walking by and my little one had to have a slice of pizza! North Beach Pizza was very fast, friendly staff, and accommodating. This is a small pizza shop so just plan on a quick pick up. We got a slice of cheese and it was pretty greasy. Not my favorite slice of cheese but it did the trick. The size was good for the price. I would come back for a slice if I was passing by.

Yelp
Got 2 large pizzas and the fried ravioli delivered for a team lunch. Great quality and flavors, easy ordering through GrubHub, and prompt and painless delivery.
google avatar

Yelp
Great for a casual meal. There was a thick layer of cheese, which I love! Although you couldn't taste the sauce very well, it's exactly what I wanted and it hit the spot. There aren't places to sit inside, just a few benches outside. They have slices to go that only take a few minutes to heat up.

Yelp
I was really disappointed in the service here. I came here before a high school basketball game at Kezar and stopped by to get dinner to bring in to eat during the game. I ordered a salad which they forgot to ring up. I asked for my salad after I received my pizza slices, but they said they didn't ring it up. They asked me to pay for it when they made the mistake already. I paid, but they hadn't started making it yet either. It took even longer for the one person preparing food to get to it. They came out of the kitchen to grab the menu to see what ingredients were in the Italian Chopped Salad. I also ordered a side of ranch dressing which they charged but I never got. The pizza was not great. Super thick chewy crust with no flavor. My kids couldn't finish their slices. I'm sad because I used to get North Beach pizza at different locations. They need to tighten up their service, especially on game nights at Kezar.

Yelp
North Beach Pizza I felt the quality of the pizza could have been better. The slices weren't as fresh or warm as I'd hoped, and honestly, I've had better-tasting pizza elsewhere. It's decent if you're looking for a quick bite by the slice , but I've had better experiences with other pizzerias in the area in the neighborhood!
google avatar

Yelp
It has been a while since we had pizza from this location. We previously enjoyed some pizzas delivered from here. A little thick with the crust but otherwise good.
google avatar

Yelp
It's a great neighborhood spot which is convenient located across the park, Kezar, and amazing local bars that is run by the friendliest most hospitable people that greet you like family when you walk in. I don't even mind eating the pizza on the bench outside because it's part of the charm this place has especially if you are with friends. And pizza is good. This time I made sure to take a picture before eating the slices.

Yelp
Ordered pizza- pepperoni - crust was cardboard, very greasy, and just no flavor. Though the 2 yo loved it, but she only eats the tops of pizzas. Picking up at a slow part of late afternoon; so had challenges to get someone's attention and when I did he processed it but seemed a bit put off by the interruption- could be just coming on or getting off and this was just a medium to go pizza. All that can be overlooked. But the flavorless, old crust can't

Yelp
Amazing service amazing quality pizza , dough taste authentic Italian pizza in Naples . Big pizza fast delivery overall amazing . North beach still got it !

Yelp
First of all, I've been coming to this particular location for North Beach Pizza since September 2019 for an annual youth sports tournament at Kezar. Every year, I have made it a tradition to take my kids across the street for pizza, drinks and snacks. I have also treated other families and coaches, in an effort to support a local small business (my parents had a restaurant for 20 years and I grew up in the kitchen). I know the hard work it takes to be in food service. Last week, I decided to try the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich. It took over 20 minutes; but in all honesty that didn't bother me as the cashier told me right after I paid the $18.73 ($2 tip included). I grabbed the sandwich and ate it during a game back at Kezar. But I was a little disappointed that I did not get any fries or a salad. I later called the restaurant when I got home to give them a heads up about the missing Fries/Salad, as I saw it on the menu. I was hoping they would have apologized for the mixup and maybe offered some kind of apology for the next time. Or just an a simple apology and that it would not happen again. Instead, I was told that the owner is making changes to the menu, and that customers need to request it. Also there is no discount for not getting the fries/salad. I am hoping the owner sees this. I am happy to provide a follow up review. I have another day of play at Kezar this coming weekend, and I can come back for another visit, or end the tradition with my kids' teams.

Yelp
San Francisco Pizza was really good. Staff are very friendly, all of them were really nice for us! This pizza is great with a beer :D
google avatar

Steve C.

Yelp
We came here on a hot day in the middle of the week for lunch. We were pretty disappointed by the quality of the pizza and the cost of everything. A single slice of pizza was $5+ and a can of coke was $3 (FOR 1 CAN). The pizza was greasy and served luke warm. They were out of crushed red pepper and the parmesean was oily/sweaty from sitting in a hot windowsill. For about 4 slices and 3 drinks with tax, we were up to $35.... unbelievable. And the pizza was just bready and gummy with thick, hard cheese and really little flavor in the sauce. Imagine a low quality school lunch pizza, served just shy of room temp. Except it costs $10 (after tax) for a slice and a coke. Which you can get at any corner store across the country (a much better quality one too in 99% of those instances) for $2.50. TL;DR: Don't come here.

Yelp
I've only ordered the Chicago style, and as a fat boy I approve. The 12 inch is enough for me it's messy and has serious heft. While I'm not an expert this feels like a good Chicago pizza.
google avatar

Emma R.

Yelp
The kids made a mess and staff still smiled while helping us clean up. Food came fast and the place was neat and tidy.

Gary B.

Yelp
Always our place to go for great pizza. its a neighborhoody and fast. easy order online or just walk in foir a slice

Taylor ..

Yelp
I had pizza here for lunch and it was perfect. The crust was crunchy but not too heavy. The sauce had a nice mix of spices. The cheese gave each bite a creamy texture. Staff was cheerful and helpful. I'll return again soon.

Michel B.

Yelp
I usually dont leave reviews for places but just had to for this place best pizza i ever had and let me tell you i have had my fair share of pizza. Their verdi pizza is to die for a must try.the customer service is great as well Ruslan the cashier is always very professional and nice and the girl who works their on the weekends abby is a sweetheart. I Love this place if you are looking for great service and great italian style pizza this place is a must go to.

Talisha S.

Yelp
Customer service is amazing I stoped by right before I had to go to work to get food for my lunch and I asked them if they could make it fast because I'm running a lil late and they in 10 mins and don't think that it was bad cuz it was hella fast cuz it wasn't ts smack like it was so good definitely coming back

Lovely RN S.

Yelp
Staff are very friendly and provide exceptional quality of service. Pizzas are made by the expert, fresh and delicious!! We LOVE the sausage, pepperoni, mushroom and pineapple pizzas to die for..well close to it Try one this week! You wont be disappointed.

jason e.

Yelp
Helpful driver redirected our order thanks for that! Good pizza. Appreciate you guys.
google avatar

G. R.

Yelp
Tiny corner location with low quality pizza. Undercooked, dougy gummy crust lacked any flavor, Tiny amount of sauce covered by layer of rubbery cheese makes it worse. Toppings sparsely & unevenly distributed on the top. $5.50 a slice for pizza like this is ridiculous. Seriously any frozen pizza would be better.

Charlie S.

Yelp
Best slices in sf bar none. Chicken parm sandwich is great too. Ruslan is the man, always friendly and running the show.

Ali N.

Yelp
Everything and don't even start with that pizza my son loves it he always say let go to that pizza pls pls the one in sf so I always go there

MelanieMike M.

Yelp
I would like to give an excellent customer service to "Tom" because he helped a lot ordering more pizza and salad at the Veterans hospital over the phone. I didn't even try their pizza yet but for sure by looking to it, it looks delicious and interesting on their menu. Thanks again!

Martin S.

Yelp
North Beach Pizza's spaghetti marinara is phenomenal! The sauce is a perfect mix of tangy tomato, garlic, and herbs, coating al dente noodles just right. Fresh, flavorful, and a must-try for Italian food lovers!
google avatar

Katie G.

Yelp
I ordered a large catering order with North Beach Pizza for my birthday this past weekend and was thrilled with the results! I called in advance to get all my questions answered and they were more than happy to help. I asked for it to be delivered in an area outside of their typical range and they accommodated my request which I was extremely grateful for! I ordered their Grande Party package which came with 3 XL pizzas, salad, garlic bread, & a full tray of spaghetti marinara. I also included a small gluten-free pizza and a half tray of veggie lasagna. All items were absolutely delicious & received rave reviews from guests. The best part is that they included a dessert with my order for my birthday; they made me feel so special! Overall, I'm really glad I went with this restaurant and will definitely be going back to try it on a more personal scale.
google avatar

Juan V.

Yelp
North Beach Pizza is always consistent and it's good to have a place you know it will be around in San Francisco. This pizza is good with beer.

Karolyn G.

Yelp
Rude ass cashier. Lost a customer *this cold pizza was not worth the bare minimum service with a side of attitude. Seemed like he was more concerned with the football game then a walk in customer.

Anna N.

Yelp
This is basic pizza. Hand tossed crust, lots of cheese, light on the tomato sauce and good array of toppings. It's filling. It's hot! It's goey. They have great delivery service. I was very happy with this pizza, it hits the spot.

Ruben M.

Yelp
Pizza is alright for a cheap quick meal. However, the workers always have an attitude and service isn't the best. I stayed in here for five minutes once waiting for the workers to acknowledge me at the register to order. Their hours are never consistent. Sometimes they close a lot sooner than their advertised hours and leave the doors open only to say they're closed.

Vito C.

Yelp
Last night I decided to get pizza pie for myself. It was the first time I would be eating one alone without my wife. So I went to North Beach Pizzca on Stanyon Street to place my order. I got a small one thin crust cheese only. Service was excellent and ordering with prices very easy to complete the order. When it came out of the oven, it was shown to me and my reaction was that it looked beautiful. So I went home to devour it. The cheese was mozzarella and the sauce was delicious. It did not take very long to get the pizza because I waited for it and I would say I was able to leave the place in about twenty minutes. It was the best pizza I have ever eaten.
google avatar

sam h.

Yelp
This is a great place to get pizza if you're throwing a kid's birthday party! They have a nice online ordering system for pickup and delivery. The staff was attentive to the details of my order and delivered everything perfectly right on time for the party. Bonus, if you want pizza on the earlier side, they're one of the few places I could find open before 11a.
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
Even before I had stepped foot inside their doors (or eaten their pizza, for that matter), I was already all too familiar with North Beach Pizza. In no small part because I've passed by this particular location countless times over the years. Yet, for whatever reason, it didn't seems like any of my friends or family had actually ordered pizzas from here. So, of course it would make perfect sense that my relatives would suddenly ask me to bring over some pizzas from here, right? While I'd always known this North Beach Pizza was small, I never knew it was THIS small (blink as you drive by and you'll miss it). Their spot in North Beach may be an actual restaurant (from the photos, at least), but this is definitely more of a grab-and-go/delivery type of spot. Though, given the neighborhood's parking situation, that might not be the worst thing... -- COIT TOWER - Fresh Mushrooms, Pepperoni, Salami, and Italian Sausage...$31.35 (large) (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/north-beach-pizza-san-francisco-4?select=NC3-4Z-lvcMYg9kDaDlnAg) Essentially a meat lover's pizza...but with mushrooms. As a whole, the meats were decently plentiful and flavorful. However, everything else fell short - some of the mushrooms were a little mealy, the sauce was super generic (read: not good), and the crust was very thick and tasteless. -- CABLE CAR - Creamy Garlic Sauce, Chicken, Bacon Pieces, Fresh Tomatoes, Green Onions...$27.40 (medium) (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/north-beach-pizza-san-francisco-4?select=kEMwJs8JKmOKREdY4hU3hA) The better of the two, but it still underwhelmed. Though the sauce wasn't bad, and despite the chicken and bacon, the dough sucked up all of the other flavors with how thick and bland it was. What's more, the tomatoes made both the taste and texture of the pizza really watery/wet. Considering how they have a number of locations around the Bay Area (though, their site only lists three), North Beach Pizza is practically a chain...except not nearly as good. I don't recall Domino's or Pizza Hut being worse, but Round Table is definitely better by leaps and bounds. Plus, while their menu does have a wider array of options to choose from, the prices here are notably high, especially for the quality you're getting. In any case, the silver lining to all of this is that I now know someone who has tried these guys, but really, that's about it. Pass.
google avatar

Toni F.

Yelp
My Husband and I love North Beach Pizza. It's our go to pizza spot. My dad even likes it and he doesn't usually like pizza. Tons of cheese, a tasty sauce and the dough is amazing. We usually order regular crust but recently became fans of the thick crust. FYI- not all North Beach Pizza locations are the same. Once my husband ordered from the Grant location and it looked like Dominos crap. Yuk! Definitely order from the Height location.
google avatar

Jeremy O.

Yelp
Haters gonna hate. Despite some of the reviews we ordered a pizza for takeout and it's the best we have had in the neighborhood. It was fresh, hot, stacked with toppings, and the service was nice. Great takeout pizza option for the upper haight!
google avatar

Ronus H.

Yelp
Food is always of great quality and fresh. I recommend the calzones especially! I've always been pleasantly surprised by portion sizes for the price and also the speed of service.
google avatar

Alice C.

Yelp
This is a very dough-y pizza. It honestly tastes more like eating some cheese on bread instead of pizza. I personally don't like dough-y pizzas - it didnt feel like it a pizza crust. Overall it was pretty bland. The cheese did not satisfy that greasy ooey cheesiness that you want for pizza. The pepperonis were incredibly salty. It really just tastes like you are eating salty bread.
google avatar

Lena N.

Yelp
I used to love this place. But, now I have to find a new place. I always ask for extra sauce but, they started to not put extra sauce on the last few times I ordered until I complained about it. The owner was nice enough to provide me a free pizza to make up for it. And they finally put extra sauce. BUT, I feel like they are trying to recup that comp pizza by charging me more on future pizzas. They have this coupon for two three topping 14" pizzas and 4 drinks for $46.99. Great deal right? Well, I always order a mushroom, sausage and pepperoni and a Garlic sauce with Bacon and chicken. I know the Garlic sauce is counted as a topping and the chicken is counted as 2 toppings, so go ahead and charge me the one extra topping. BUT, $12 more? Are they charging for the drinks too? I tried to give them another chance since they finally put more sauce, but not sure I will return if I am being charged that much extra on top of the coupon. Why have a coupon, if your not gonna honor it?
google avatar

Barbara R.

Yelp
Do not recommend. I think they are only still in business due to lack of other choices. One pizza $51 - absolutely ridiculous. People are rude. The sign up has old prices - well they must be 10 yrs old as garlic bread in the sign said $5.50 but he charged $8.50 and said sign was old. Isn't there a law against that?
google avatar

Helen L.

Yelp
Just in the mood for a slice. So many choices: hawaiian, meat combo, cheese, veggie, pesto. I picked a slice of pesto. They took it out of the warmer and served it. Yes, it was fast service but it was not hot and it was eating pizza that has been sitting there (don't know how long). No drippy gooey cheese. It was semi-warm pizza. At least put it in the oven for a few minutes before serving. They do not do special request. They did offer a plate.
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
After a long trip to one of the world's pizza Meccas in NYC, I finally made it out to my neighborhood pizza spot. I came here hungry after a long run & ordered a slice of pepperoni post Arsicault. This slice didn't resemble its cousins in NYC, which isn't inherently bad. The crust was thick, doughy, & bready. It was also quite spongy & borderline underdone, and not much browning, which you could chalk up to being a stylistic choice, but it lacks the texture complexion & feel of a nice crisp slice. There wasn't much sauce and it wasn't super strong & lacked sweetness, so there wasn't a ton of flavor. The cheese and pepperoni are cheese and pepperoni, but nothing really stood out about them. They keep the pizza slices in a little warmer cage, but I feel like it could've used some extra time in an oven to get the cheese a little melty again, as it was decently congealed when I starting eating it. If you're looking for some bread with cheese on it for a few bucks, this place will be up your alley.

Jason E.

Yelp
So....... I went here and ordered a medium pizza while on my scooter. I left a $7 tip on said pizza that I wasn't eating there. I asked for a bag and they said they don't give bags for pizzas. Ok. So I shove the pizza in my bag and scoter home with said pizza hanging out of my bag, retightening and rezziperring at each light. I get home and as soon as I turn the key the pizza falls out I call to complain that they didn't give me a bag and the owner was exceptionally unhelpful and rude. He did send me a free pizza via delivery but a simple 'I'm sorry would have worked and solved this issue. 5 stars because they solved my problem but feedback given on how to treat clients ' I'm sorry' is a thing
google avatar

Rynelle A C.

Yelp
I always have their medium thin crust pizza with bell peppers and ground beef. Great crust, pretty generous topics, great service. A staple SF pizza joint! I recommend the Haight one on Stanyan.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Zero customer service. Also cashier was standing outside, walked inside, grabbed my slice and then rang me up all without changing gloves. Cheese slice was lukewarm and barely cooked all the way through.

Marc C.

Yelp
If I could give zero Stars I would. In the day this was a great pizza. Overtime their service and quality have gone down greatly. Today I ordered a simple pepperoni pizza and was told it would be delivered within 45 minutes to an hour. An hour and a half later they finally show up and the bottom of the pizza is not only burnt but the pizza is ice cold. When you call to complain basically they give you no response and say they're not bad. There are plenty of other great pizza places in San Francisco. Avoid this place.
