First things first... based on the photos that are currently here on Yelp, I had picked out 5 or 6 different dishes that looked really good to me. However, they change their menu regularly so none of these dishes that I was looking forward to, were on the menu now, but was a bummer.
However, what I did order instead, was really yummy.
My father ordered the Deep Fried Calamari to start. It came with a flavorful basil pesto that had a garlic kick to it. The calamari was perfectly fried - not overcooked like lots of places do. And, it married well with the pesto sauce, which was also different from most restaurants. Normally I wouldn't order or eat much calamari, but I might order this one again - especially if I am there with a group of friends.
I started with the Fried Green Tomato Stack. I've been getting FGT at a number of different restaurants and while most are cooked the same, again, they do a slightly different twist on theirs which made them stand out. They were topped with pepper jelly, goat cheese, and what seemed like a balsamic vinaigrette which was a really nice combination of flavors.
My main course was really special. I don't see it on their online menu, so I'm not exactly sure what they called it, but is was a piece of salmon on top of spinach, which was on top of a lemon risotto. It had a couple of cherry tomatoes on top and it was an unusually, but again, yummy combination of flavors that you don't usually see elsewhere. It was healthy, not too heavy, and each bite was enjoyable, which held my attention throughout the meal.
My father got the fish tacos for his main, and while I didn't eat them while they were hot and fresh, I ate them cold a few days later and while I didn't have high expectations for them from the fridge, they were better than expected.
The service was good and it had a friendly vibe, but it was a little loud in the restaurant so leave your hard of hearing parents at home for this one.
