Yelp
North Garden offers a good Chinese menu offering the traditional Chinese fare, house specialties, Chinatown dishes, lunch & dinner combination plates, and Dim Sum. The restaurant has a full cocktail bar and a cozy dining room with light green colors, wood tables, and wood cushion seats. There's also Karaoke on Saturdays (9:00 PM to closing) in the separate cocktail lounge/function hall in back of the restaurant.
After having Sunday Dim Sum at the sister restaurant South Garden in Merrimack (almost identical menus with slightly less selection), I was still in the mood for some more Dim Sum. I stopped in at the North Garden for some Monday Dim Sum.
The 26 Dim Sum items are served on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays (11:30 AM to 3:00 PM). The Dim Sum here is pretty good for NH standards without having to drive to Boston Chinatown. There's no traditional pushcart here, so you order off the placemat menu (pictures of some items). Prices range from $2.95 (dumplings, steamed buns) to $5.95 (beef or pork soup with rice noodles for 2).
I ordered some complementary hot tea and the following Dim Sum items:
Sampler of Steamed Buns (chicken, mashed lotus nuts, vanilla filling): $2.95 (small & very good)
Grilled Bean Curd Sheet Rolled with Shrimp (3): $3.75 (bit chewy)
Pan Fried Rice Rolls with Shrimp Filling: $3.80 (my favorite item here, not available at South Garden)
Pork Soup with Rice Noodles (for 2): $5.95 (large soup bowl with hearty chicken broth, homemade rice noodles, pork, scallions, & Chinese broccoli, very good and filling)
The food took about 10-15 minutes to come out because of the steaming process and had some missteps in the beginning with the wrong items such as Chicken Claws and Pork Rice Soup being brought out to the table, but were corrected with apologies. After the meal, the server brought the check out with a fortune cookie and pineapple cubes with toothpicks. Overall the food was pretty good and service was friendly here.
