I've been to North Italia twice so I'll break down both experiences as they paled in comparison. So, because the first experience was a 5 star and the second was a 2.5/3, I'll give them 4 stars as an average.
First experience (5 star): My friend and I wanted to try somewhere new for happy hour and chose North Italia. When we got there, the host asked where we preferred to sit and we chose the outside patio. Our waiter came over and I regret forgetting his name because he was funny, kind, patient and very welcoming. He helped us navigate the menu and aided in our selections. We got the gluten free, thin crust Margherita pizza. It was enough for two but if you're hungry, probably just get your own. To our surprise, the GM came over, asked us how we were doing and offered us free meatballs to try. We told him I didn't eat meat so instead, he had the kitchen prepare us some calamari. That was so kind of him and he was pleasant to every table he went to. The calamari was great to munch on as we waited for the pizza. The pizza was also delicious and a great option for someone like me. I took the cheese off my slices.
For dessert, we got the beignets and then a few more friends joined us and our waiter took care of them as well. We had such a good time that we stayed till close (we got there around 6pm). The team was fabulous and treated us so well. Too bad my second experience was not the same.
Second experience (2.5/3 stars): This was a late dinner for us so we got there around 9:30pm. We were unsure if we wanted to sit outside or inside and the host seemed a bit impatient just by us taking not even 5-7 seconds to decide. We decided to just sit inside because I wasn't in the mood to deal with anyone with anyone who had an attitude. We sat in the booths and the waitress came over. At first, I didn't notice her tepid energy until my friend pointed it out. We were asking her if she had any recommendations and she was so snippy in her responses. Again, I was in a good mood so I gave her the benefit of the doubt that she probably has had a long shift.
Bypassing all that, I ordered a kale & avocado salad as my starter and for my meal, I went with the branzino. I got shallots with my fish and removed some of the other items that came on it. I asked her for a topo Chico and asked if they could put fruit in it. She came back to the table with the water, and the fruit on a plate. My cousin then joined us and also asked for a topo Chico with fruit. When she came back this time around, she let us know we would be charged $5 for the fruit. I told her that was absolutely not happening and she should go get her manager. She came back and said they wouldn't charge us but moving forward, they would. Again, she had an attitude as she delivered the message and then the manager came over and repeated the same thing. I kindly let him know that perhaps they should inform their staff about this prior
to them providing it to patrons. His energy wasn't great either and both of them really had me throwed. Our waitress kept acting like she was doing us a favor by serving us and it ruined the experience.
The food was good but not sure I'll be returning, at least not for dinner when those two may be there.
