Where to Eat the Best Pasta in Houston | Eater Houston

"Though an Arizona transplant, this Italian chain knows how to make great pasta, and it’s not afraid to show it. The restaurant, which has locations in Upper Kirby, the Memorial area, and The Woodlands, offers sneak peeks into its pasta-making process with windows showing noodles being made and molded multiple times a day. The freshness is evident in dishes like its house bolognese, which is made with brightening wild oregano and Grana Padano cheese, and a ricotta cavatelli made with lump crab, tiger shrimp, pepperoncini, mint, and olive oil. Diners can’t go wrong with its crispy chicken Parmesan, which is topped with crushed tomato and served with a side of Parmesan rigatoni. Insider tips: Request the Parmesan rigatoni spicy for an added kick that will turn your pasta a pale pink. Gluten-free pasta and vegetable noodles are also available for a $3.50 substitution fee." - Brittany Britto Garley

This is a great restaurant in the Post Oak neighborhood! We had a great dinner here the other night. Maurice was a wonderful and attentive server. Don’t miss the garlic bread with a side of vodka sauce! The calamari was a hit. The Bolognese was so flavorful. Loved the prosciutto pizza, the fig really made it pop. Cant wait to go back!

We visited North Italia in the evening and were absolutely delighted! 🌟 The atmosphere is incredibly cozy — dim lighting and stylish interior make it perfect for a romantic evening. The food was outstanding! The calamari were the best I’ve ever had. Delicious pasta, fresh salad, and a heavenly panna cotta for dessert. The service was top-notch — attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Another big plus: the restaurant is open until 10 PM on Sundays, while many other places close at 9. Thank you for such a wonderful and flavorful evening. We’ll definitely be back! ❤️🇮🇹

The pesto pasta was absolutely delicious rich and perfectly balanced with the fresh basil and garlic. It was a comforting dish, and you could taste the quality of the ingredients. The drinks were also top-notch, expertly crafted by the bartenders, who added a personal touch to every interaction. Whether it was a classic cocktail or a unique twist on a favorite, they really knew their stuff. To finish off the meal, the tiramisu and expresso martini was a dream! The atmosphere was incredibly welcoming, with plenty of seating options. I chose a spot by the door, and it was the ideal place to enjoy the vibe. Overall, it was a great experience, and I can't wait to return for another round of great food and drinks!

First thing, this place is super noisy and crowded. When I mean the noise level is high, it's like a college dive bar. Between the music blasting in the background, and the diners struggling to talk to each other, the waitstaff bumping into tables and each other, it's just overwhelming. The dim lights don't make it easy to move about either. Drinks are overwhelmed with ice. Ice that melts really quickly. Meaning what you pay for isn't what you are getting in a cocktail. And they are stingy with the liquor. Food is OK. Nothing to write home to Itaky about. This is on par with almost every Italian American restaurant in Houston, I never expected anything major. I ordered some dish that was supposed to have lump crabmeat and tiger prawns. I guess they forgot to add them in the dish. The crabmeat was shredded, and I mean shredded, and the shrimps were normal pink shrimps lol about 5 pieces. So, that's very misleading. The pasta was I believe potatoes pasta, it was soft, mushy, and doughy. I couldn't eat it. The Carpaccio was good, not in a traditional Italian form, but I like their twist on it. My son enjoyed his pizza. The lemon olive oil cake desert paired with macchiato was excellent. Parking is at the garage, which is a very easy walk, or you can valet if you wish. Will I give them another try, maybe.

Amazing food & ambience. Took out my vegetarian wife out and she absolutely loved it. We ordered the garlic bread, spicy broccoli, grilled branzini , kids cheese pizza, Tortelloni Al Pomodoro & tiramisu for dessert. We are definitely going back but maybe without the young ones this time

My family and I had a wonderful dining experience here. The here is absolutely amazing. It tastes like authentic Italian food. My sister was able to get a table for 6 with no wait. Our server was super nice and attentive . My husband and I shared a pizza and we both loved. My sister got the eggplant pasta and she said it was delicious. My in laws got the meatballs and shrimp and they also keep raving about how good their food was. There is a huge free parking garage next to the restaurant.

Overall I loved this place and would definitely recommend! It’s right in the middle of the post oak area. The atmosphere is casual but classy. Perfect for honestly any occasion. We. We’re sat inside initially, but the AC pretty cold so we moved outside. Our server Tiffany was AMAZING! I’m not familiar with Italian and she guided us through the menu with ease! Her recommendations did NOT disappoint. My favorite dishes were the garlic bread and Brussels sprouts. My pasta dish was also good (7/10) but the starters and sides are the to die for. I’d recommend getting a few of those to explore more of the menu!

Wonderful atmosphere! autumn was a wonderful server! The Barata and heirloom tomatoes was outstanding! We shared a chopped chicken salad and the prosciutto and fig pizza. YUMMY! Topped it off with an affogato! Love this place!

Yelp
A great 5 star experience. Our server was Jen M and she went above and beyond to make sure we had a good dining experience - really hope management sees that note and she is recognized. We went as a group of 6 for a birthday celebration and sat in the outdoor patio which was clean and pleasant this time of the year. The zuca chips were delicious as always, and we also had two other appetizers including that cheesy bread ... yum! For mains I had the house speciality bolognese which was amazing. The pasta was fresh and the meat sauce flavorful. Price point seemed just about right on for the portions. Desert was also great - the tiramisu was light and tasty, and they gave us a complimentary pumpkin spice butter cake for the birthday boy!

Yelp
I'd say the magic of this place is the atmosphere. You can have a great get together with friends and experience good service and a nice looking place. In terms of the food it's not the best pasta I've had. I had the spicy rigatoni and it was dry in my opinion, there wasn't a lot of sauce and the pasta was a bit hard. I really wish they could nail this one because the flavors were there, it's a great idea in theory I just think it needed better execution (maybe I just got a bad batch) My boyfriend had the squid ink tonnarelli and it was good, he enjoyed it. A very tomatoey pasta, he said it wasn't spicy at all. It was very interesting to see because the noodles were black. It was an enjoyable experience and I would go back to try other dishes.

Yelp
We met up at north Italia with a group of friends. This was my first time. I ordered the pesto pasta and the strozzapreti. Both pastas looked delicious and tasted too. They were very well presented. I really enjoyed the strozzapreti. The service was excellent too. Our server was very friendly and gave us good recommendations. We got our refills on time and all requests were fulfilled in a timely fashion. we did make reservations, which is highly recommended.

Yelp
North Italia never fails, doesn't matter where you're at! We've been to the Austin locations many times and wanted to treat our family traveling from out of town to this special place in Houston, and glad we did! It was a very impromptu decision and were nervous that maybe we weren't going to get seated because we didn't make reservations, but they had ample outside seating and we got sat right away! The night wasn't too hot or humid so it wasn't uncomfortable or anything like that. This North Italia is located near the Galleria and we weren't sure what parking was going to look like but thankfully there was a parking garage and parking was free! We of course had to order the garlic truffle bread and pitcher of sangria and these never disappoint in Austin and didn't disappoint in Houston. That truffle bread is so addicting, please get it, you won't regret it! I went with the Bolognese Pasta and loved the flavor of the sauce - not too salty and not bland at all. I liked the choice of pasta too - I'm not pasta expert, but it all tasted pretty fresh and delicious to me. We ended our meal with chocolate and pistachio gelato and I enjoyed the pistachio one far more than the chocolate. Overall we had a wonderful time, the service was great and the food was fresh! I'm glad to have had experienced the same level of service and quality this restaurant brings in two different cities. You're doing it right, North Italia!

Yelp
North Italia is a favorite of my wife and I. It's typically our go-to anniversary/celebration spot. Being from Austin, we had the same expectations for the location in Houston. We happened to be in the Galleria area and saw it while driving. It was a Friday night, around 7:45 PM or so. The place was busy but we thought we'd try and hope to get a table without a reservation. Inside had a mix of regular and high-seated tables and they had a patio area alongside the restaurant that also looked inviting. For our party of 4 at that time there was a high-top option and the patio option--we went with the patio. Sun was down, there was a slight breeze and the noise-level was way down outside. Our server was awesome. He was very attentive and nice. To drink we ordered a pitcher of the red sangria--it was fresh, flavorful and yummy, highly recommend it. As an appetizer we ordered the "White Truffle Garlic Bread": bread with house made ricotta, mozzarella, grana padano, and herbs. Do yourself a favor and order it!! It came out fresh, with the cheese melting. As my entree I ordered the "Strozzapreti": a pasta containing herb-roasted chicken, roasted mushroom, spinach, toasted pine nut, and parmesan cream. It was delicious!!! Came out fresh, hot, and creamy. The pasta was tender and the pieces of chicken were moist and well-cooked. So happy that the higher standards of this restaurant are felt in its different locations. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Had to see what all the hype was. I made last minute reservations and called to inform that I would be 15 minutes late. They were kind enough to allow for the time. When I got there, the young man said they appreciated the notice. That to me was very impressive because I wasn't expecting such a warm welcome. I was also impressed by our waiter Gabe as he was very patient and knowledgeable about the menu. The atmosphere was casual and a nice place to dine with family and friends. The food was good. I was expecting to be wowed and wasn't. They said the pasta is made in house daily but I didn't taste any difference. We ordered the zucca chips and white truffle garlic bread. I didn't care too much for the chips because I got more crumbs than actual full size chips. Gabe offered to exchange for salad but I'm not a fan of returning food. The truffle bread was a hit. For our entrees we ordered the crushed meatball ragu and strozzapreti. The servings were quite large and we had enough to pack as leftovers. As stated, this is a good place for family gatherings.

Yelp
I've had north italia once in dallas but was super excited to try the one in Houston, especially because it is so close to the galleria! It was a pre-birthday dinner and so we really tried our best to take advantage of the whole menu and ordered a variety of things! The service was very warm and welcoming. I wish I asked for our service name because she made the whole experience very enjoyable and made sure to give us her best recommendations. Additionally, because we went for dinner, The vibes were really nice with candles on every table and fresh flowers! We started off with the calamari and beef carpaccio with white truffle garlic bread ! All three appetizers were stunning, but my absolute favorite was the beef carpaccio. It was just super fresh and really great flavors! For our main, we decided to split squid in pasta and the short rib. They recommended that you mix the short rib before you eat it, which I definitely agree, but I will say the squid ink impressed me a lot more than the short rib! I will definitely be coming back for future date nights and all the dishes were pretty affordable - anywhere from $15-$25!

Yelp
Are you kidding? Go eat here if you want to love your food, have a kind server, and leave looking like this . REALLY good pasta and appetizers. We want to try the pizza next, it looked so good. There's a lot of seating inside and outside. There was some water dripping from the ceiling (due to condensation we think) and our server gladly switched us to a different area and gave us great recommendations for food and drinks. Very pleasant experience!

Yelp
Oh North Italia, your food is so comforting. Our waitress on my last visit Elizabeth was wonderful and provided perfect service for my mom's birthday party. I had the spicy vodka rigatoni and the pasta had just the right amount of bite, the sauce was spicy and creamy and well balanced. I could have done without the pancetta because it was a little too heavy with it, but that's my preference. Don't get me wrong, my plate was still wiped clean by the end. I wish the pizzas were a little bigger and the crust was different, but the flavor combinations are great. It also gets pretty loud and lively here at night, so keep in mind that you might not be able to easily have a conversation across the table.

Yelp
We came here for a celebratory dinner with my volleyball team and we reserved a table in the side room. We ended up having the whole room to ourselves! The other room can be pretty noisy but it was absolutely perfect in there. Service was great and the server was really knowledgeable about the menu and easily answered all of our questions. He also took group photos for us, which we appreciated. Food never misses. We got the white truffle garlic bread for the table and everyone loved it. I got the Caesar salad with chicken and it was delicious! Everything here always tastes very fresh. Will come again!

Yelp
Initially my friends and I were hoping to go to Pizzana but when we found out there was a 1.5 hr wait for our party of 5, we decided to take our Italian cravings elsewhere. North Italia was a short drive away and we were seated right away! We were surprised given how busy it was. We ordered quite a bit for 5 people. We got the Caesar salad, kale salad, calamari, braised short rib lumache, spicy rigatoni vodka, spaghetti, bolognese, Tuscan half chicken, and tiramisu. For me, the standout dishes were the braised short rib lumache, kale salad, and Tuscan half chicken. I expected to enjoy the Tuscan half chicken the least but it was fantastic! The polenta complimented the flavors of the roasted chicken really well without overpowering the dish. The braised short rib lumache had horseradish in it, which sounds weird, but helped to balance the richness of the short rib. The kale salad's dressing was perfectly sweet! One of our friends ordered one of their espresso martinis and it was super yummy too. The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and a little upscale. It's not so fancy that you'd have to dress up though. Our server was attentive as well! She made sure to refill our waters often and checked up on us throughout the night. I'm definitely not one to crave Italian food very often because I find it too heavy of a meal but our dinner was great and I'm looking forward to returning!

Yelp
I've been to North Italia twice so I'll break down both experiences as they paled in comparison. So, because the first experience was a 5 star and the second was a 2.5/3, I'll give them 4 stars as an average. First experience (5 star): My friend and I wanted to try somewhere new for happy hour and chose North Italia. When we got there, the host asked where we preferred to sit and we chose the outside patio. Our waiter came over and I regret forgetting his name because he was funny, kind, patient and very welcoming. He helped us navigate the menu and aided in our selections. We got the gluten free, thin crust Margherita pizza. It was enough for two but if you're hungry, probably just get your own. To our surprise, the GM came over, asked us how we were doing and offered us free meatballs to try. We told him I didn't eat meat so instead, he had the kitchen prepare us some calamari. That was so kind of him and he was pleasant to every table he went to. The calamari was great to munch on as we waited for the pizza. The pizza was also delicious and a great option for someone like me. I took the cheese off my slices. For dessert, we got the beignets and then a few more friends joined us and our waiter took care of them as well. We had such a good time that we stayed till close (we got there around 6pm). The team was fabulous and treated us so well. Too bad my second experience was not the same. Second experience (2.5/3 stars): This was a late dinner for us so we got there around 9:30pm. We were unsure if we wanted to sit outside or inside and the host seemed a bit impatient just by us taking not even 5-7 seconds to decide. We decided to just sit inside because I wasn't in the mood to deal with anyone with anyone who had an attitude. We sat in the booths and the waitress came over. At first, I didn't notice her tepid energy until my friend pointed it out. We were asking her if she had any recommendations and she was so snippy in her responses. Again, I was in a good mood so I gave her the benefit of the doubt that she probably has had a long shift. Bypassing all that, I ordered a kale & avocado salad as my starter and for my meal, I went with the branzino. I got shallots with my fish and removed some of the other items that came on it. I asked her for a topo Chico and asked if they could put fruit in it. She came back to the table with the water, and the fruit on a plate. My cousin then joined us and also asked for a topo Chico with fruit. When she came back this time around, she let us know we would be charged $5 for the fruit. I told her that was absolutely not happening and she should go get her manager. She came back and said they wouldn't charge us but moving forward, they would. Again, she had an attitude as she delivered the message and then the manager came over and repeated the same thing. I kindly let him know that perhaps they should inform their staff about this prior to them providing it to patrons. His energy wasn't great either and both of them really had me throwed. Our waitress kept acting like she was doing us a favor by serving us and it ruined the experience. The food was good but not sure I'll be returning, at least not for dinner when those two may be there.

Yelp
We visited North Italia with some friends in June. We all ordered different things and were impressed with quality and depth of flavor of the dishes. The restaurant was full and lively, making it difficult to hear each other but I sign of other customers enjoying their experience.

Yelp
The meatballs here are to die for!!! And if you ask for a meal to split, they divide it for you! So no fights over who got the most. The chicken Parmesan was delicious. The pasta is cooked al dente as is traditional for real Italian food. We ate at the bar and Danny and Nicholas were wonderful. They were fast, engaging and positive. Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
I absolutely love North Italia. She's cute, classy, aesthetic and I always enjoy their delicious food when I am here along with the ambiance. I think anything you order you will love and trust that it's made fresh. From their calamari, Caesar salad to their pizza and pastas, it's all so good. The ingredients taste so fresh and fragrant. Staff is always so kind, attentive and professional. Parking is so convenient and easy since there is a parking garage right there for many other restaurants nearby. I do recommend making a reservation ahead of time just since every time I been there every table is being utilized. Come out and enjoy some delicious italian food!

Yelp
Can't wait to come back to try more. Came here for a girls night and to celebrate some birthdays. The drinks and food were great! We had some wines and rose for drinks, and we absolutely loved the spicy rigatoni vodka pasta! My friends also had the chicken Parmesan and the ricotta cavatelli. They had a lot of great food options to choose from and the server was attentive and quick! The ambiance here is great for celebrations or date nights. There's parking right near the garage next to the place and it's a great place to walk after.

Yelp
It was my first time trying North Italia and it was a good experience. I had the chicken Parmesan and a cocktail that I did not get a picture of. My food was pretty good but lukewarm and I would have preferred the chicken to have more tomato sauce on it. Anyway, I would recommend North Italia and I do plan on going back again.

Yelp
We made an impromptu plan to visit North Italia. It was busy a Sunday evening but we were able to get a table in less than 5 min. Ordered few non alcoholic drinks along with pasta and pizza. Drinks were surprisingly great. Loved the quality of food but the pizza could use some salt. Overall a great experience. Will surely visit again.

Yelp
Sheesh, I don't know how I've never paid a visit to north Italia! They got some dank pasta here. Even the grilled bread was fire. This specific location is in the uptown Houston area. It was so nice. There's a parking garage right next to the restaurant that you can park for free in. We got the grilled bread & good olive oil as our appetizer. We came during happy hour, so we got one dollar off. The bread was crispy. There seemed to be a balsamic glaze drizzled on top, which paired well with the cheese. I got the bolognese, and my goodness gracious it was absolutely phenomenal. Served to us piping hot and fresh. I'm a huge fan of pappardelle- it's long, flat, thin, and wide... soft yet chewy. The bolognese and pappardelle together create the most comforting and hearty meal. The sauce is so flavorful and the ground meat throughout the pasta adds so much depth to the dish. My favorite pasta to ever exist. Service was great! Our server was very friendly and attentive. The interior was so beautiful and aesthetic. I will definitely be back for more pasta.

Yelp
Yum! North Italia is delicious and such a vibe! I love going for date night as I am obsessed with their pesto chicken pasta, but everything I've tried is delicious. The service is fast and friendly. The parking situation (garage and street) is easy also, which is everything in Houston! Cheers!

Yelp
I recently dined at North Italia and had a mixed experience. We started with the calamari appetizer, which, unfortunately, was just alright. The fry on the calamari could have been better--perhaps a bit crispier to bring out the flavors more. For the main small course, I tried the meatballs, and I must say, they were quite good. The beef was well-cooked, tender, and flavorful. The dish was definitely a highlight of the meal. To accompany our meal, we ordered a bottle of Moscato and a white wine. Both selections were enjoyable and complemented the dishes nicely, adding a pleasant touch to the overall dining experience. While there were some hits and misses, the ambiance and the attentive service made for a decent evening out. I might consider giving it another try in the future.

Yelp
*Vegan review * Saturday night this place looks pretty exciting. It's Italian how hard could it be to have vegan options? Super hard! I ordered the eggplant parm without cheese the waiter Dustin insisted that it could be made without cheese. Dustin even asked another waiter which was reassuring. Long behold the eggplant came with cheese but not on top but in the breadcrumbs. Ordinarily I would not be so hasty with an accidental cheese occurrence but the way Dustin told me there was no cheese and started to poke at the eggplant was so rude. He showed his colleagues and they said yes there definitely cheese in there because it was stretching. Anyways I don't recommend this place for vegans and definitely don't sit at the bar with Dustin. The broccolini I was told comes with meat on top Dustin was kind enough to tell me that before ordering.

Yelp
Dillon: I ordered the spicy rigatoni vodka pasta. It was very tasty, definitely felt like I was eating genuine Italian food. It was smaller than I expected, especially for the price, but it was heavy and high caloric enough to be filling. Our side was the fingerling potatoes though, and they were completely tasteless. Maybe it's an Italian tradition to eat tasteless potatoes but they weren't very good regardless. The service was outstanding considering how busy they were. It's a loud place and very high energy. Our dessert was pretty good, the affogato, but it definitely tasted better being on the house in celebration of our anniversary. Aneena: I love coming here! I always order the prosciutto pizza ( gluten free ) and it comes with prosciutto, figs, arugula, goat cheese, and sauce. The size of the pizza is also reasonably large for one person. The prices are definitely on the higher side so keep that under consideration! The ambiance of this restaurant is super nice, there are candles and dimly lit lighting which makes it perfect for date night hehe. The potatoes, as mentioned before, were not that great. The service however was fantastic! I would highly recommend this spot and parking is also convenient, the garage is connected to the restaurant!

Yelp
Came in for a happy hour and stayed for their white truffle bread! Their pomegranate inspired mule was my favorite drink from their happy hour drink menu. The bruschetta was delicious! If you're hungry get your own, if not then its perfect for sharing with another person as an appetizer. The host, was nice but appeared a little disinterested or tired. Our server however was AMAZING! She was pregnant and I do not recall her name but she was so incredibly sociable! The vibes were both upscale and relaxed. There were a few families but mainly business people.

Yelp
I've been to North Italia a few times. They have valet available, street parking, and a garage. My review is based on my most recent experience when I went for a friend's birthday. It was 8 of us and we went on a Tuesday night. Our server was pretty attentive, and brought out new silverware and napkins after we had finished our apps. For appetizers we got the mussels, meatballs, and garlic bread. All were amazing. Since we had a big group our drinks did take a little longer to come out, which is fine. The part I thought was a little odd was that half the table didn't get their drinks until later. I ordered the spicy rigatoni pasta at the recommendation of our server. I enjoyed the pasta a lot and even wished I had more. While I was satisfied with my meal, a few others at my table were not. Some of the other guests noted that the risotto that comes with the seared sea scallops was under cooked. Two people at our table ordered the scallops and one plate came with 3 scallops and in with 4. They are portioned by weight so something to keep in mind. Another guest said their Parmesan rigatoni was cold and kind of dry. The part that I was unhappy with, I actually didn't noticed until I got home. When I got home I realized I had huge brown streaks across the back of my legs. This was not there prior to sitting down at the restaurant. My guess is that the booth had not been properly cleaned and when I slid in/out, whatever was on the booth smeared on my legs.

Yelp
Stopped in with some friends for dessert as we were in the area. Our server was incredibly sweet, you could tell he was busy as it took him awhile to get to us but he acknowledged the wait and was flexible when we said we were only in for dessert, getting us dessert menu's right away. He made a suggestion to try the butter cake, and we ended up ordering that and the dark chocolate Budino. Both were excellent! The Budino's whipped topping tasted fresh and as if it were homemade, it was so light and not over sweet and really complimented the dark chocolate used in the Budino. We had a great time, made better by our sweet server and his recommendations.

Yelp
Very cute restaurant, good vibes, very friendly and attentive staff. Loved our waiter. The food was good, a 3-4 stars depending on what you got. This particular evening, we got: the beef carpaccio (3.5/5)...beef was fresh, flavor was not punchy. The calamari (3/5)...it was like a British fish and chip batter over squid, a little oily. The white truffle bread (3/5)...good, not overly memorable. The bolognese (4/5), easily the best dish we had, love the tagliatelle. On the drinks side, we got the Tranquillo was bright and tart, interesting service in a tea cup (cute idea), and the Veni Vidi Vici...pretty outstanding. It's like a Japanese Old Fashioned, and it came, it saw, it conquered. The big downside of the evening was the food expeditors. I really dislike hot plates of food served across others to get to the person at the far end of the table. One expeditor actually "black jack dealer-ed" our plates to us from one end of our table. It was off-putting. Otherwise, our waiter and all of the staff were pretty impeccable all evening.

Yelp
Super clean place and the food is delicious. Service is always great here as well. I suggest to go for brunch it's less packed and better parking.

Yelp
I've been here several times and always have a good experience and good food! I enjoy their meatballs as an appetizer and their pastas are all delicious! My top 2 favorite pastas are the Chicken Pesto and the Spicy Rigatoni vodka sauce. I always have to get a dessert and never go wrong with their tiramisu! It's so good and light and refreshing! I've seen large groups get together and they're very accommodating to all group sizes. It's fun to sit at the bar as well because there's inside and outside patio area available. I love seeing people bring their dogs also to sit outside and the dogs are just hanging out!

Yelp
Saturday is a busy day at North Italia constant stream of people coming in for dinner so I suggest having a reservation. We had a party of seven so it was best for us to have a reservation. The waiter came and took our drink orders, and we had lemon lemonade (tangy and refreshing) and sangria (fruity, flavorful... fun in a glass). We ordered starters calamari (crispy and tender, sauce was really good) and zucca chips (thin with a slight crisp... the kids enjoyed these) and a couple of salads the Tuscan Kale (I did not eat this salad, the dining companions enjoyed) and Italian Farm (crisp lettuce, fresh greens topped with salami and speck and olives, pickled onions, cucumbers, pepperoncini, roasted red peppers, tomatoes and bread crumbs... crispy, salty, tangy... so good... charcuterie board and salad had a baby). Soup of the day was tomato - creamy tomato soup my dining companion enjoyed the rich creaminess of the soup. Entrees... I decided to order the mussels. The mussels were tender and the sauce was very flavorful. I enjoyed dipping the crunchy grilled bread into the sauce (spicy salumi, white wine butter and herbs) and letting the bread absorb all the flavor and topping it with a mussel. It would have been nice to have a bowl for the shells and a wet nap to clean my hands... I noticed a lot of families dining with young children. Our server was personable and friendly. There is a parking garage around the corner.

Yelp
I was immensely disappointed in my Valentine's Day experience at North Italia Galleria, and I do not intend on returning to this establishment. My partner made reservations at North Italia for our first Valentine's Day together. We were seated immediately but then our long wait began. We ordered drinks fairly quickly, then waited about 15 minutes prior to ordering appetizers and our entrees (which we ordered at the same time anticipating a hefty wait on Valentine's Day). We ordered the cruda - a raw beef spread served with toast - and the White Truffle Garlic Bread, both of which were delicious. Our drinks were also tasty. The quality of what we did eat is the only reason this restaurant is receiving a 2-Star review. This is where our pleasant experience came to an end. We then waited 75 minutes for our entrees. Tables were sat; served drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts; and left while we waited for our food. At the 75 minute mark, the server told us she put a 9-1-1 in on our food and that it would be ready in 5 minutes. She claimed a system error resulted in our order never being placed. 10 minutes later, we still had no food and asked to speak to a manager (Tanner). The manager's response was pitiful. He checked with the kitchen and told us there were still 4 orders ahead of ours. His only offering to make up for our egregiously long wait was free dessert. At this point, we were unwilling to wait any additional time for our entrees. We asked him to cancel our order. The manager comped the appetizers and drinks we had already consumed but did not offer us any other compensation for our ruined Valentine's Day dinner. He gave us no reason to want to return to North Italia. I am very disappointed in North Italia. Our first Valentine's Day together was ruined, and my partner had taken the day off work to be in Houston from out of town for this special dinner. Our wait was terrible, but the unfazed and unapologetic attitude of management was especially upsetting. Despite a very inviting ambiance, I cannot recommend a dine-in experience at this establishment. Maybe take out would be a safer option. Update (2/27/2024): The manager we spoke to the night of Valentine's Day, Tanner, called my partner and profusely apologized for our unfortunate experience at North Italia. He also offered us vouchers as a way of encouraging us to give North Italia a second chance. I will update this review again after we have gotten a chance to return to the restaurant.

Yelp
This restaurant is so versatile whether it's a business meeting, quick lunch with the girl or date night! This location is so conveniently located and the food is amazing. The service is top tier with valet service to take away from parking stress, ability to walk in or make a reservation with no issues. Some of my favorites include the White Truffle Garlic Bread, chicken Parmesan and the Black Mediterranean Mussels! All so delicious!

Yelp
This is a nice restaurant with a comfortable atmosphere. The restaurant was busy when we arrived, so we waited about 20 minutes for a table. Our server was a little slow, but the place was packed, so that was to be expected. She was very nice - no complaints on the service. The food was above average. My daughter was happy with the fettuccini Alfredo. I had eggplant Parmesan from the starter/small plates menu. It was fine, not amazing, but it was okay. I would not characterize this as a vegetarian-friendly restaurant. We had them hold the chicken on the chicken Alfredo for my daughter, and I ordered a small plate. So- if you're a vegetarian, there are a few (mostly lackluster) options here, so it is possible to get something, but don't expect much variety. Check the menu before you go.

Yelp
Since I had bbq on Friday, this past Memorial Day, I picked up their Margherita Pizza for the first time here instead of one of my 3 go-to pastas. It was one of the best margherita pizzas I have had down here. It was very delicious, aromatic, very fresh, juicy and crispy on the edges without being dry. It was a bit too greasy compared to other margherita pizzas I have had, but the flavor was spot-on as was the ingredient quality and texture. Basil truly adds a wonderful, herby vibe in Italian food. The basil wasn't burned on this pizza, nor too raw either. Some of the employees are friendly here and maybe several more that I have yet to come across. However, what is annoying, like this visit to name one, is when orders take too long way beyond what was said on less busy times, which should be easier.

Yelp
I met a friend here on a Wednesday evening. It was pretty busy but we were sat quickly. I ordered calamari and a few Cosmo's. The bartender made them exactly how I like them. My friend ordered the bistecca. I had a bite and it was delicious. The service was great. You could see Managers walking around and checking on tables. I would definetly come here again next time I'm at Galleria.

Yelp
Tonight was our second time to order the North Italia Family Pasta Kit. It's a great, simple, prepare at home meal. Dining at North Italia is fun with a high energy atmosphere and good , friendly service. However, sometimes you just don't or can't go out. This solution is cheaper than ordering entrees delivered from the restaurant, assuming everyone has the same thing, which when cooking at home is no stretch. You can choose between 5 Pastas (one gluten free) and 4 sauces or Lasagna. For a little extra you can add protein. Each order comes with Caesar Salad, Garlic Bread and Tiramisu. All family sized. Everything arrives separately packaged including sauce and dressing for you to heat, toss or assemble. The two times we ordered the kit, we were eating within 20 minutes. If you can't go out, don't want to cook a full meal and still want to give your family a good, fast meal then give the Family Pasta Kit a try one night.

Yelp
As always In North Italias everything was good. I checked out after a while and enjoyed my Chicken Parmigiana. The pizza crust is great and most of the pizzas on the menu are good. My cousin asked for our waiter's choice of pasta and he brought us a wonderful plate and that's the reason I don't know its name.

Yelp
What a great place to celebrate any special occasion! Beautiful space with super cozy and brightly illuminated with natural light from their open windows at the bar and seating areas! I love that the kitchen walls are glass and you can actually see the cooks working their magic inside! I highly recommend to see when they're tossing the pizza! I think I have tried everything from their menu. Every single dish they have is delicious! I have also come for breakfast and happy hour, which I also highly recommend to try! Staff is always nice and quick to meet our needs! Awesome choice for breakfast, lunch, dinner, happy hour, or just dessert and coffee!

Yelp
Went to North Italia a couple of weeks ago to celebrate our son's 34th birthday. The place was very classy yet casual. There was indoor and outdoor seating as well. There were 6 of us plus a baby. We were able to be seated but I would recommend making reservations just to make sure you are able to get a table. Everyone started out with craft cocktails. We all had different ones, but everyone loved the ones we got. The table got Cacio e Pepe Arancini which is fancy for a crispy risotto that was to die for. It was the whole table's favorite. We also got the Calamari Fritti. It was also very good, but it had a very light batter which to me was like something that would go on a fish and chip or a beer batter. I didn't care for it, but I don't like that kind of batter. The white truffle garlic bread comes with a house made ricotta spread and ohhhh myyy definitely could have just eaten that for lunch. ha ha I got the Ricotta Cavatelli which came with jumbo lump crab, shrimp, pepperoncino in a mint, lemon and olive oil sauce that just made the dish even better. My wife isn't into trying different things. She is very meat and potato, so she ordered the chicken parmesan. It came out and for a split second I was jealous. The chicken covered over half the plate. For something that was very typical for Italian food, it was absolutely delish. They brought out our son a red velvet butter cake with gelato. It was good, but not something that I would order. The food was so good, so maybe I was just too full to enjoy it. I wish I could say I took pictures, but I did not. We had a lot going on this time. If you are looking for a cheap meal, this is not your place. It was very pricy for a lunch, but definitely worth it. Parking was down the street in a garage that was free. After that meal we needed the walk back.

Yelp
For a higher end restaurant in the Galleria, I really expected so much better. The place was crowded when we arrived early on Friday night and we had to share a 6 person table with another couple, which was fine. However, once seated, it took 10 minutes for a waitress to come over and even give us waters. No free bread or anything to keep us while we waited. After another 15-20 min we get our food dropped off by a busser, not even our waitress. No offer of Parmesan or pepper or anything from our waitress that a high-end Italian restaurant would offer you. To top it off, my Bolonese, which was the house signature dish, tasted like something I could have made at home. It wasn't anything special, except for the hefty price tag. $60 for two average pasta dishes. Our waitress showed up half way through our meal, and asked us if everything was ok. We asked for the check because we had no idea when we would see her again. To be honest, I felt profiled. We didn't order the expensive wine or any appetizers, but if I'm spending over $50 a meal, I expect at least some decent service and the food to taste better than average. Disappointed on all ends, but the service dropped this from an average experience to a bad one. There are much better restaurants in the Galleria area to visit. Don't waste your time or money here.

Yelp
Good food and great service but the portions seem small for the cost. Was expecting more pasta for the price.

Yelp
We came here for a girls night, and the place was packed but we were able to walk in for a table immediately. The ambiance is so stunning with the lights dim and candles at each table. I've only been here during the day, but definitely would recommend seeing the vibe at night! I got the Roman Holiday cocktail, which was sweet (but not too sweet!) and very refreshing. Definitely recommend if you like those types of drinks like me! We shared the white truffle garlic bread and I was in love with that order. So so recommend trying that one out! I wanted more and now I'm craving it hahaha. There were two choices of sauces but we went with the red spicy sauce which was very yummy! For my main, I got squid ink tonnarelli, which was incredible for a seafood lover. They had squid and shrimp throughout, and the pasta was cooked perfectly. I would definitely order this again the next time I come back!

Yelp
We came for dinner and we had a great time! Service was great. We came in a group of 6 with a baby and they were very nice and accommodating. We had their calamari, Italian meatballs (made with beef), and white truffle garlic bread. The Italian meatballs were perfectly cooked and seasoned, and my favorite of the appetizers. For our main course my husband and I had the prosciutto pizza and bolognese pasta. Both were very delicious, but my favorite was definitely the pizza. The sweetness of the figs, saltiness of the prosciutto, and savory-ness of the goat cheese were perfectly balanced. I would definitely recommend their prosciutto pizza and can't wait to come back for more.

Yelp
Decent food, calamari was good and the truffle bread. Would probably only come back for small plates and wine

Yelp
Came through on a Thursday at lunch time and the joint was absolutely jumping. Very buzzy and busy, lots of work lunches going down here. There is a bit of a happy hour feel to the noise and proximity of tables in the space. It's an upscale casual vibe to the whole affair that doesn't feel off putting at all. Parking is located for free in the adjoining garage. Lots of carbs on the menu, it's Italian so cmon, pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, and breads to accompany other items. 12" pizzas are shareable portion size and have a daily special along with some other staples to choose from. Pastas we're very well cooked, sometimes that's a problem at Italian places, left just a bit al dente. Overall most things were executed well and made with fresh looking ingredients. Some things like the cheese ravioli maybe weren't that exciting, but simple stuff like the white truffle garlic bread is really yummy.

Yelp
We (2 adults and 2 kids under 8) had a lovely birthday dinner here. The ambiance was great and very kid friendly. Valet was $10 and smooth. The restaurant is kind of unique because it looks like it can truly serve multiple purposes. Birthday dinners, dinner with the ladies, a quick bar run, date night, pick up to go, etc... all of it. It seems wacky but they make it work just fine. The service was excellent. Slight wait time for the entrees but that's a good thing (to me at least). I don't want to think my almost $30 pasta is just sitting around for hours in a vat. They give you these lovely birthday cards with free dessert vouchers on your birthday. So the food... I believe my expectation was a bit too high. Kids got the cheese pizza and the chicken tenders. They were just ok. Our local burb Italian restaurant does this better. Heck, Marcos Pizza would have been a better value. Granted the cheese was absolute delicious and way better quality, 2/3 of it was bread. My son's don't do crust unless it's stuffed with cheese. Lol. So we "wasted" $. The tenders were tasteless. Fries were normal. The garlic truffle bread. Big SIGGGHGHHHHH. I was really looking forward to what I thought would have been 10/10. But it was more like a 6/10. It was just...underwhelming to me. Only 2 pieces actually had any cheese. The goat cheese spread was mild but still did nothing to elevate. This broke my heart. The calamari was EXCELLENT. GET THAT! the side salad with it was spicy and tangy and I wish I had a bowl full. For our entrees, my husband got the bolognese. He gave it about 6/7. Good enough but not so great when compared to other Italian restaurants we've been to. I thought it tasted flat. No pizazzz. Nothing memorable. Again disappointing considering its their signature dish. I got the squid ink pasta. Umm...I was not a fan. Really not very flavorful at all. 5/10. Again..tasted bland to me. Now the star of the show... That butter cake!!!! Oh man. 10/10. We are devoured this!! So so delicious. Party in your mouth. Saved this from a 3 star review. Lol best part? It was on the house. Lol Final grade: B I'd return. I have to. They gave use 2 free dessert vouchers. Lol

Yelp
Celebrated my Sisters 26th Birthday Here!! The food , the service , the setting. Incredible Well worth the wait and slight inconvenience with our wait time on the entree. The pepperoni pizza is incredible! 10/10 (sorry brothers pizza they're in their own league) The eggplant parm was magnificent. 10/10 The meatballs 10/10 And the long waited for but so worth it "Braised short rib pasta" Oh my god 10/10 so fresh and packed with flavor. I will be returning/sprinting back asap to this restaurant for those meatballs and eggplant parm. We ended with the 3 layer butter cake it seems like ? Very different from any butter cake i've ever had 10/10 And then we got a free tiramisu as well. It was ight lol not a big fan of tiramisu 9/10? lol A great experience!! AMAZING STAFF AND TEAM!!! Everyone that worked there made sure we had nothing to worry about and that we were WELL taken cared of. They had our backs with our drinks , our apps , our napkins , our table cloths. they hit Every note and made my sisters entire day/night. Thank you North Italia. For an unforgettable experience, one i will always remember and cherish forever.
