The Alder Street Food Carts Need $300,000 to Move to the North Park Blocks [Updated] | Eater Portland

"City officials and business owners are attempting to move many of the Alder carts a few blocks north to two blocks between West Burnside and NW Davis streets on NW Park Avenue, where mock-ups show potential spots for 37 carts around the park area, though nothing is fully set in stone yet. Commissioner Chloe Eudaly’s team, the Pearl District neighborhood association, and others are fast-tracking the effort to create a shorter hiatus after the June 30 move-out deadline, and the Friends of Green Loop is attempting to raise $300,000 to underwrite towing, supply electricity for the proposed pod, and help develop a long-term solution." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

A nice park situated in a slightly quieter area of downtown Portland. At the time of our visit there was a brew fest occurring. The grounds looked well maintained. Plenty of trees provide shade ample shade. Several park benches align the paved walkway. Seemed safe enough to visit during the day.

What a great experience. It was quiet and exactly what I needed to decompress after the crap storm I've had over the last few years. It was very refreshing, and the gentleman was nice.

This is the park a block away from home and I can see it every day from my window, unfortunately not my favorite park in town. The trees are dense and tall which means little sunshine and too much shade even during a bright sunny day. The park is frequented by homeless people, sometimes they would just sit on the swing forever. While I definitely don't consider this park unsafe, I wouldn't find a bench to sit down and read a book either. I took these pictures last fall, truly stunning colors, even more impressive to see them in real eyes than in photos.

Do not like how the homeless and drug addicts seem to think it belongs to them. Not safe for a single woman (even with my dog). I will avoid at all costs

A nice park with a rough edginess. I love North Park blocks. It's definitely a pillar of the chinatown community. It's not super classy. You will see a lot of homeless folks and some gang members possibly and some other characters. But I've lived in the area, and i have brought my son to the area a lot of times, and I've never had problems. At night, it can be a little sketchy. But it's a nice little park that's great for people watching or playing basketball at the court. This is the kind of park you bring you 40 oz malt liquor and basketball to play at 6 am, hahaha!

North Park Blocks feature historic trees, open green spaces, and public art—perfect for relaxing strolls, cultural events, and enjoying downtown Portland’s urban nature.

I took my cat, Pax, on my shoulders to the North Park blocks Art in the Peral on Sunday. There was a great turn out. The art show stretched two full blocks. Many dog on leashes. There was a sax player at one end by the food court.

Good for bocce. Good place to shoot hoops. Lots of big trees... Stick to the paths and watch your step. Often a lot of people around at various levels of inebriation.
