I really like this place. Mostly because it is away from all the craziness Big Bear City brings (including the people). This restaurant sits on the other side of Big Bear lake, well, the only cafe on this side actually. So if you find yourself here, Fawnskin, you don't really have much of a choice probably unless you want to drive all the way around back to Big Bear City/Village area.
During Covid, they completely close the inside and it is not accessible for customers at all, even the restroom. Which is understandable because it is a mom and pop place and the inside is small anyway.
You order through the Intercome, which in my opinion makes the sweet lady's voice really hard to hear. The intercome is loud but it kind of scramble her voice... The sweet lady would take your order when you are ready and there is a side window where you come to get your food when she calls you. Please be patient with her, she is working hard and I'm sure they are all working hard in the kitchen.
Seatings are all outdoor. There was lots of snow when we came this time so maneuvering past the snow or puddle of melted snow could be a challenge. Space is very limited and so is parking so if you pass by it and there is no parking, you know there is no seating at the moment.
Nonetheless, I would still recommend this place because it is tucked away on the other more peaceful side of Big Bear. Food is very basic so don't expect fancy or try to customize your orders, they won't do it. Breakfast menu stops at noon and Lunch menu starts at 11am. No substitution. No special order. The end! :)
