How to Spend a Delicious 24 Hours in Marshall, Virginia | Eater DC

"An even closer outdoor option, Northern Faquier Community Park (noted with a 1.7-mile paved trail) is a convenient, easy hike if you want something shorter and less involved than Sky Meadows." - Missy Frederick

Google
Amazing little park with a short walking trail, sports fields, clean bathrooms, and a playground with adjacent pavilion. We love going here to play and find beautiful leaves + trees. Convenient location close to 66 and grey for all ages.

Nicest park that I have been to in Western PW/NE Faquier. Tons to do and beautiful facilities. Easy place to teach a kid to fish!

Great park for picnic with family and friends. It’s a little far from us but we still love to drive there👍🏻. Restrooms was clean. There’s playgrounds for little ones. Nice shelters with outlets. We enjoyed our day at the park

This is easily one of our favorite parks and we have over 10 to choose from within a 10 mile radius. The park has three playgrounds on the property to allow for plenty of play opportunities for kids of all ages. It is beautifully manicured, and regularly maintained. They have a paved walking path and numerous pavilions for picnics, group, meet ups, and parties. They have a small amphitheater for local events as well. There are bathrooms that are walking distance from each of the playgrounds that are clean. In the summer the equipment can get very hot but two of the three playgrounds have a small portion covered by shade trees.

Google
Really great park with multiple shelters. We stopped at the playground so our son could stretch his legs and move his body. There were dozens of people out for birthday parties and get togethers. Restroom facilities were available. It's definitely a destination for people in the area. Great stop for bike riders, too, because it's expansive. Lakes had people fishing, too.

Pretty, quiet, lots of walkers, pond, foliage, restful, can book for events in sheltered locations

This is the best place for picnics. There are several huts and BBQ grills with wonderful scenic pond. Soccer and baseball fields. Several tot lots for kids. Restrooms are also available on site. Best place for picnics if you are around. It also has a huge parking.

Yelp
Northern Fauquier Community Park opened some time earlier in the year. I've been interested in this park for a while as it looks really nice when driving by on Route 55. But it was closed last time I went through Marshall as construction was not yet completed. It's located just off of Route 55 just east of beautiful, downtown Marshall, VA. It's open now, I visited yesterday as my neighbors were holding a birthday party for their 3 year old daughter at the park. They reserved a covered pavilion which had plenty of tables, a grill, and was close to lots of playground equipment for the mass of writhing kids attending the party and now running amok through the park. The park offers a lot of park amenities - from the park web site: "Open year-round, the park boasts 8 athletic fields including baseball, softball, soccer and football. The park also features two concession stands, 8 picnic shelters, an amphitheater, three playgrounds, a two mile paved multi-use trail, 3 indoor restrooms, fishing lake, meeting room and plenty of beautifully landscaped open space. Recreational programs are available for your enjoyment." I plan to come back to walk and hike, fish the lake, and maybe even grill out some time!

Yelp
The park is big, many fields, catch and release that my husband and kids love, ducks and geese and three small playgrounds. Excellent facilities and a great perk is the ice skating during the winter. My kids love riding their bikes on the trails.

Yelp
Impressive and beautiful regardless of the drizzly, foggy day. Out to jog someplace new, plus get my steps in. (fitbit). This park was one I had not yet been too and today I was on my own, so, NFCP it was! Pulled into the office area on the left at the enterance and read the map. 1.75 mile trail. Perfect. I wan't the only one out jogging in the rain either. - I was impressed that this park has 4 different locations with playground equipment. One with swings. 3 right next to restrooms that are actual builings. Not porta potties. I think I counted 2 consession stands next to 2 of the 4 playgrounds. Many shelters and standup grils to use. Some of these grills look huge! Very impressive; especially in the shelters by the lake. picnic tables outside the shelter areas as well. Also on site is an ampitheatre. I'm pretty sure this place gets crowded in the spring and summer just like the Warf in Warrenton. Today...it was not. - While jogging I could hear the trains whistling in the near distance. Ducks/geese wadling and quacking nearby. Even with the fog and being December you could see the beautiful ( I think ), Hawthorne trees (?) with their bright red berries. I had to google the tree. It was so pretty. -Check out my pictures but please note--It is Dec 26th and very foggy with a drizzling rain! If I hadn't already mentioned that!

Yelp
Really nice park to bring the kids to. Lots of different playgrounds as well as a nice path for walking or riding bikes that is about 2 miles in length (as a loop). It's great for teaching a kid to ride a bike or just spending time walking and talking. There are various ball fields (baseball, softball, soccer, and football) and many covered pavilions where you can have a pretty awesome birthday party or family reunion. The pavilions range in size from about 4-6 tables to roughly 20 tables in one or two of them; a pretty awesome selection. The park also appears to have a concession stand (not sure of the hours of operation) and a lake for fishing. It's a really nice park for families, parties, or anyone that wants to walk on a paved trail. If you're looking for trail hiking this is not a great park for you; for that, go a couple minutes down the road to Sky Meadows (not great meadows) State Park.

Yelp
Beautiful and well maintained park in Fauquier County. It's a little out of the way but if you are looking for peace, quiet and expansive spaces then this is it. The field was well maintained and the facilities were great - very clean. There is ample parking as well as plenty of space to spread out.

Yelp
This park is mainly for sports with lots of fields. There are picnic areas too. There is a trail but it is short so you cannot really escape the sports field atmosphere.

Yelp
Excellent local park. Run there several mornings during the week. Very well maintained. Great place to walk, walk pets, picnic, etc.
