Google
Food was absolutely fantastic! We ordered the shrimp, egg, and chive dumplings—bursting with flavor and perfectly balanced. The seafood tofu soup (soondubu) was another standout—rich, comforting, and seasoned to perfection. The tendon appetizer was flavorful but a bit on the tough and chewy side. Still enjoyable if you like a bit of texture. We also had the kimchi pork bun which was packed with flavor and definitely worth trying. Service was great—attentive and friendly throughout the meal. The atmosphere is a little dim, but in the best way—it gave off that classic “you know it’s gonna be good” vibe. Overall, a solid spot for anyone craving authentic dumplings and hearty comfort food.

First time trying a Korean Dumpling. I was in a rush and grabbed this as a to go snack. I got the Pork Cabbage Dumpling. The ground pork was delicious with the cabbage. I added some soy sauce and it was perfect. It’s not oily and they used fine ingredients to make it. Will be coming back. $3 for a good sized dumpling too.

I've ordered from this restaurant several times before and they were fine. However, the food I got on June 30 has left me utterly disappointed. I ordered both the Shrimp Pork Dumpling and Celery Pork Dumpling; my mom bit into a large piece of plastic (similar to a piece of plastic bag) in one of the dumplings. She could've choked if she had swallowed it. Please be more careful with food safety. Needless to say, I won't be ordering from this place again.

Google
Compare with price, actually food is ok. Many of my friends love their mala-tang. I don't like their stir-fried pork. Some tasty, some not. Portion is big. No greetings, no thanks. No farewell. That's all. :)

Google
An interesting restaurant. You get to see the dumplings being made in front of you in the dining area. We had their boiled shrimp and chive dumplings, beef knife cut noodles, and a kimchi steamed bun. Everything was tasty and we had a good meal for our first visit.

Google
The steamed buns were delicious and well balanced between the filling and the bun. The bun was soft and pillowy with a bit of chew, and the filling was abundant and flavorful. We tried the shrimp dumplings and weren't impressed. The noodles were good but didn't leave the same impression that the buns did. The service was a little slow probably because of the noodles and dumplings, but if you only get buns it should be a quick grab and go.

Google
I have been wanting to try the kimchi pork bun forever and I was finally in the neighborhood to do so. It did not disappoint! They stuff the bun with so much stuffing! I also purchased a bag of the kimchi pork frozen dumplings. It was all delicious. Highly recommend!!

Google
I usually pick up a few veggie buns here when driving by after work. It’s really good 👍 and at $3.50 each is reasonably priced. The egg pancakes are worth a try also. My only complaint is they tend to sell out of the veggie buns if you come late afternoon. It’s cash only. They also serve noodles here for dine in and other options.

Yelp
Many of my fellow foodie friends in NYC have often inquired about whether there exists a North Korean restaurant in NYC. With a perhaps suggestive name and spartan environs, Northern King Dumpling is probably the closest thing out there. While there are many Koreanized Chinese spots in the hinterlands of Flushing serving the typical jjampong-jjajjeongmyeon combo, the small shop known in Korean as Wang Mandoo caught my eye for its mixture of items more typically associated with Dongbei like a pickled vegetable bao-tze, which was absolutely scrumptious, alongside some classic Korean items one might find in the "North" such as naengmyon and soondae. I also loved the chive egg pancake, which used a softer dough than I've typically experienced at pure Chinese eateries. These are dishes that reflect a more organic mixing of the two cuisines that I wouldn't be shocked to find at a restaurant in Chongjin, should I ever be able to visit. Some other reviewers have pointed out that Wang Mandoo's owners likely hail from the Yanbian autonomous prefecture along the borderlands of North Korea, which makes sense, as some items here are labeled as such in Korean. The cold noodles, which I will try on a warmer occasion, are referred to as "Yanbian Naeng-myeon" rather than by their more common association with the capital of the DPRK.

Yelp
Came here with huge expectations since calling yourself dumpling king is a pretty bold statement, but was extremely let down for a variety of reasons Started off my order here with the kimchi pork bun and the cabbage pork bun, which were honestly the best things here. Flavor was okay nothing spectacular, the fillings were a little disappointing though since it was packed with veggies and didn't have as much meat as I'd like or was used to, the cabbage and pork bun was more oily than I'm used to as well but not necessarily a bad thing in this case. Next came the kimchi pork dumpling and the spicy pork with rice. The dumplings were disappointing, they lacked the crispiness I'm used to from fried dumpling, and again contained too much veggies. The spicy pork had a weird assortment of veggies I'm not used to in this dish ie carrots and cucumbers, and on top of that it was way too oily for my liking. This place ranks somewhere between average to subpar, but with all the food options around in flushing I don't think I'll be making my way back here unless I'm in a desperate hankering for some kimchi pork buns

Yelp
I came for Northern King Dumpling's famed kimchi buns ($3.50), but what really ended up winning me over were their shrimp chive egg dumplings ($12). The shrimp was bouncy and the chives added a garlicky flavor to the dumplings. The skins had a delicate chew to them, that only handmade wrappers have. The dumplings bear a stronger resemblance to northern style Chinese shui jiao rather than Korean mandu, and that it because I believe the owners are from Yanbian which is an autonomous prefecture in northeastern China that borders North Korea and Russia. So, the menu boasts Korean and Chinese staples like hotteok ($2.50) which were delicious and fresh and chive egg pancakes ($3) which were unfortunately a little underseasoned, as well as a fusion of the two like the kimchi buns. Since these buns were from a fresh batch, I ordered four of them and ate one in the car. The tangy kimchi filling also had bits of pork as well as glass noodles, which I absolutely loved. Everything is made from scratch, and the shop boasts a glass window where you can watch all the aunties rolling and folding dough expertly like well-oiled machines. There are a few tables but I noticed a majority of the orders were takeout. If you are looking to bring some frozen goodies back home, there is a freezer full of dumplings and buns too. The staff understand Mandarin and Korean, but the menu is also printed in English as well.

Yelp
I did take out because I was craving steamed buns and looks like people had good experience with the steamed buns. The buns are huge! Definitely worth the money and it was tasty! We got the shrimp chive dumplings, and cabbage pork buns and the veggie buns, our favorite was the veggie buns. They got my order right and it was pretty quick.
google avatar

Yelp
The buns and dumplings here are absolutely delicious. I've tried all the buns and the kimchi one is my favorite. Very flavorful, plenty of filling, large buns, and great prices. The owner is also friendly and service is quick. Food tastes really fresh and home cooked. Simple restaurant without the frills. I recommend to anyone who is visiting the flushing area!
google avatar

Marilu S.

Yelp
I had the kimchi pork bun and it was so flavorful. I also ordered the beef bulgogi over rice. I liked the veggies in the bulgogi mix. Great affordable meal for when you don't want to cook and it's filling. The ambience is a no frills experience you get what you see for an affordable place. Food: 5/5 I would come again and recommend for anyone to check it out.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible northern style buns. The amount of filling, the mild kick, the flavor, the dough consistency. Wow! I'm so impressed. I wish they delivered to Manhattan or sold them frozen, because I'm so far... but I'm so happy I got to try them!
google avatar

Yelp
Such a gem find, small hole in the wall where you can find ladies making authentic dumplings and steamed buns behind the glass window. I've tried almost all the dumpling varieties, chive & egg pancake, kimchi steamed buns, malatang and everything was pretty solid especially given the price. The dumplings have a chewy skin that you can tell were made fresh, the buns are huuuge and malatang hit the spot. They even give you a cute little freezer bag for takeout orders or frozen dumplings! I would highly recommend and this one is worth the IG hype as someone who is very discerning when it comes to social media.
google avatar

Ivan L.

Yelp
I came here for buying the bun, the size of bun did really surprised me. It's so huge, that's why they charged $3 each. But the option for buns wasn't that much. I don't like cabbage pork bun since it's bland and not enough pork inside. Kimchi one taste better, I'll recommend to try Kimchi bun. If there are more bun option, will be better
google avatar

Lien L.

Yelp
This place is not near the main strip of flushing so it's a bit hard to get to unless you have a car or willing to take a bus after you get off the train at flushing Main Street. However it is quite delicious the buns that are sold here. It's Hefty and large for what you get. Is it tasty? Yes the kimchi one was really good- but I also like the taste of kimchi dumplings so if you just want essentially a larger version of that in a fluffy bun then you will enjoy it. The dough itself is proportional and not overwhelming in comparison to the filling. My only gripe? There wasn't enough pork for either the pork and cabbage bun or the kimchi one? maybe its cuz i am used to chinese style buns but there is usually a higher ratio of meat filling to the cabbage though overall the filling is more in this bun. i would recommend the kimchi bun as well as the red bean one.
google avatar

Hawkin C.

Yelp
This is small place with few tables. As you come there are ladies making the dumplings. Ordered kimchi dumplings pan fried, kimchi pork bun, hand pulled dough soup with seafood. The dumplings was very good, the bun was okay, the hand pulled seafood soup was good.

Tzujen C.

Yelp
I ordered 2 meals and it took 35 min to be done Better not to order anything, but just buy what they have on shelf. Food are good though

B T.

Yelp
Great, huge veggie bun. Flavorful filling, soft and chewy classic bun. Out of some items later in the day.

Yelp
The malatang is phenomenal -- the perfect level of spiciness and full of so many different components (fatty beef, enoki mushrooms, meat-filled fish balls, a bounty of vegetables, noodles, fish tofu, etc), truly the most comforting dish. Their kimchi pork bun has a bounty of filling and super yummy as well. I loved them so much that I bought six frozen ones for quick meals at home. The shrimp chives dumpling was also great too, but may pass on their fried dishes next time (tried the hotteok - fried dough with sweet syrup and peanuts- and the egg chive pancake; don't think they were fried enough to get those crispy edges I was hoping for). Note that the staff mostly speak Korean and Chinese, but if you don't speak those languages they have pictures on the wall that you can point to to order. They also have a handy app with English translations of their menu too. There is limited seating (they have one long table that sits 10) but seems like more of a takeout spot. Will definitely be back for more of that malatang and their buns.

Yelp
Great dumplings. We always eat in the store and get take away! Highly highly highly recommended!!

Enoch C.

Yelp
December 2024 The steamed king dumplings were subpar at best. The frozen meat dumplings almost made me throw up because they were so bad. Had a bad meat smell to it and absolutely no flavor. We steamed 8 and threw out 7.5 of it. Throwing the rest of the frozen ones out. And it's not cheap either. $20 for a small bundle. Quality control here is non-existent and definitely not the store it was years ago. Thought I'd revisit a nostalgic flavor but never going back here again.

Ryan B.

Yelp
I love these kinda places. Yummy and cheap. Best bang for the buck. Meat and vegie wang dumpling is the best.-
google avatar

Suzie C.

Yelp
The dumplings are always on point! Especially the kimchi pork dumpling. The ladies behind the counter are always so busy. The turn around is good so it's always fresh.

Jeremy Y.

Yelp
Kimchi pork bun be hittin like no other buns. Who knew buns would hit so hard woooooo back
google avatar

Savannah D.

Yelp
Northern King Dumpling's Kimchi Pork Bun earns 4 stars for its soft, chewy bun embracing a flavorful medley of well-seasoned meat and tangy kimchi. A delightful combination that makes each bite a satisfying culinary experience.
google avatar

Yelp
my hubby and i love this place !!!! we love thier kimchi baos !!! they have side dishes that u can buy too
google avatar

Jennifer Y.

Yelp
These ladies know what they're doing! There are a few menu items, all called "dumplings." You can either get the big dumpling with a fluffy bread exterior, or small dumplings that are boiled in water that have a thicker-than-wonton skin. The main menu hanging above the cash register is the menu for the bread-y dumplings. Their classic "wang mandu." This is a takeout place only at this time. You can't eat in and there is no outside seating anymore either. There is a minimum ($5) to use a credit card.
google avatar

Tina W.

Yelp
Northern King Dumpling is definitely the king dumpling in the northern blvd in flushing area. They have both chinese and korean oh and english as their menu language. I came here by accident because a lady was eating in front of the store and it looks so good that I cannot resist to step in.
google avatar

Yelp
I believe this is the first time I'm having Korean style buns and I'm so impressed!! I got the kimchi buns and the dumplings. The buns were FILLED. This is how all buns should be!! And so packed with flavor. The dumplings were also great but honestly I'd just stick to the buns!! Can't wait to try their other flavors.
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
I was craving some tasty steamed buns and they did not disappoint here! It's right off of Northern and just a small shop. Clearly they specialize in the dumplings and buns since that's what the pictures mainly show but they also offer other noodles and other items on their menu as well. I only stopped by for the buns and I'm glad I did. I chose the kimchi pork bun ($3) and the cabbage pork bun ($2.50). Both buns were slightly bigger than the size of my palm. They were warm and stuffed with cabbage / kimchi, pork, and glass noodles. The outside bread part was thin and it was stuffed inside! I would only suggest that they add more meat since there really wasn't much inside but given its price and size, definitely worth it. I prefer the kimchi one - it's not spicy and just has a different flavor profile - but they're both really good! I will definitely be back. I also wanted to try their chive and egg pancake but unfortunately they didn't have any when I went the first time but hopefully next time!

Prima Z.

Yelp
Wasn't really a fan. The bun itself was good but the cabbage pork bun was like 90% cabbage and anything but pork. It was also sour cabbage. Like it was pickled. I did not enjoy the flavor combination. The pork and chive dumpling filling were super fatty. I feel nauseous after eating. Dumpling skin is really thick as well. Place itself is really clean and staff friendly though.

Keith E.

Yelp
If you're not too late, this place has a great selection of takeout foods. We particularly love the vegetable baozi. It's a staple stop for us anytime we're passing by.

Betty P.

Yelp
I've been coming here for two years now, I would order the same thing pork kimchi 5 days week or the dumplings pork there we're times the kimchi was a bit not fresh!!, but I brushed off because I don't like to complain.. today I went to order dumplings pork.. when I realized I left my money home.. cash which I always pay them with, I told sorry and for her to cancel the order the old woman got angry!!! I try my card, but it was short.. apologize.. so she has cancel it.. she went nuts saying I'm not a good customer and not to come back!! WTF over $11.. because she her lost profit?!! This is disgusting... Maybe again she treat me badly because im not Asian!!

Yelp
Went to pick my wedding album near the area and decided we want to try some Korean foods. The one we want to go was close. Saw this place we decide to go in. Inside there are one big table and a counter behind the table. It is not a big place. The menu is on top wall. To order you have to go to cashier to order. The menu is a little confusing and looks like there are mispelling on the menu. We order some foods and it came pretty fast but they did forgot one noodle and when we ask they say it is coming coming. But it never came so we took it to go when they finally brought to us. The place is ok and the foods are ok.

Yelp
Man oh man this spot has real good Kimchi buns and the Red bean buns. If you come from a Korean family you might have heard of this spot.It is known for their buns and the freshly made foods here. I tried their fresh tofu for the first time and you can taste the freshness with each bite. The staff here are also nice and know alot of the foods that they have. The real star of the show here is the Kimchi Bun. It is so savory and umami and you can taste the kimchi in each bite. The prices here are affordable and good priced. Be sure to give this place a spin when you around here.
google avatar

Joseph T.

Yelp
Come here and try the kimchi bun! It's a steamed bun filled with kimchi and ground pork. It's fantastic! A unique item that I haven't seen elsewhere. Super filling and reasonably priced at $3.50 for a huge bun. I decided to grab a bag of frozen dumplings to go too. Service was ultra quick.
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
I decided to order the Kimchi Soup from here today, it had tofu, big chunks of pork, glass noodles, the broth was flavored good. I wasn't really sure what to expect and while it wasn't as good as some korean places I've been to, it will fill the urge while I'm stuck working from home due to covid. Will order from again.
google avatar

Ben Z.

Yelp
I ordered from UberEats. The beef hot pot is a great deal of delicious food for $12. I got fried pork and chive dumplings; good and abundant. The red bean bun worked for me, but not my girlfriend. It's a bit "earthy", but no bean skins. I'll definitely be ordering again after I get through my leftovers.
google avatar

Sooji H.

Yelp
Hidden gem that's finally being noticed by people around the area. I knew about this spot last year and my mom would frequently order from here. So this spot is a mix of Korean and Chinese fusion meals. There is always one person who speaks Korean in there (she speaks both Korean and Chinese). Their staple is their cabbage pork bun and kimchi bun. The kimchi bun is $0.50 more (total of $3.50) it's a steal!! It's huge and filling. Everything is reasonable priced. I consider it cheap considering how overpriced Korean food is in this area. Cabbage pork bun 5/5 Kimchi pork bun 5/5 Jjolmyun (spicy chewy noodles) 6/5!!! I had this the other day and I was so taken aback at how delicious it was. It wasn't overly spicy and very refreshing. Sundae (blood sausage) 4/5 Different than what I'm used to. A Chinese style is definitely added to this dish. It is filled with a lot of rice and they provide this soy sauce dressing on the side.
google avatar

Meredith K.

Yelp
Just went 8/13 and they dropped their prices back to $3/$3.50 to the cabbage buns and kimchi buns respectively. It was a very exciting visit for me and my sister. As always, really great kimchi buns! We got extra to give to a family member who was flying out too. Thank you!
google avatar

Rachel C.

Yelp
I can only speak for the Kimchi Wang Mandu but wow this thing was loaded! The ratio of bun to filling is insane and you can see that the bread is super thin compared to how stuffed this bun is. The filling had glass noodles as well and the combination of the fluffy bun and the chewy noodles was so delicious. I think the only thing that would have made this better would be some chunks of meat in there. But overall, a solid wang mandu place. (My dad actually brought this home and he described where the location was and I was slightly confused. But he said it was in that odd super skinny triangle building across from the car wash and I immediately knew where he was talking about! Super easy to miss if you don't live in walking distance but a must try. The vegetable one is pretty good too, with good amounts of black pepper. My grandma really liked it and she's super picky. Will be back for more in the future!

Kate L.

Yelp
I found this piece of plastic? Rubber? In my malatang. I already half-consumed the food and now I'm not sure what to do. It came up to surface when I stirred the food. This is NOT okay

Eric K.

Yelp
Came to this place a second time to give them another try to see if my horrible experience the first time around was an aberration. Absolutely horrific. Dumplings are mediocre and have a pathetic amount of filling. The blood sausage tasted freezer burnt and bland, like month old rice stuffed in God knows what type of casing. Threw away both, wasted $18. Please do not spend your hard earned money here, not worth it.
google avatar

Rika M.

Yelp
Very fresh huge pork and cabbage buns. Their dumplings are also delicious and tasty, always fresh. And their prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. This is my go to spot when I am in the area.

John P.

Yelp
I absolutely love this neighborhood gem. Great bang for your buck. Can't go wrong with some warm buns and delicious dumplings. Their hotpot style soups are really good as well.
google avatar

J J.

Yelp
I tried 3 different types of buns. Kimchi, Pork cabbage, and Veggie bun. The kimchi flavor is very strong, sour and spicy so if you are into that you will love it. The only one I really liked was the pork cabbage one. I liked the glass noodles (japchae) in the pork cabbage bun.. The other buns were not bad but just not my preference. I liked how the paper on the bottom of the bun didn't stick to the bun and the filling was a good portion. Do recommend.
google avatar

Susan C.

Yelp
Craving cold noodles on a hot, humid summer evening, my friends discovered that this place delivered via Ubereats to an area of Queens lacking in Korean food options during this current covid situation. So immediately an extra point to them for simply being available! The naengmyun hit the spot. Cool, salty, vinegary savory broth with thin, chewy buckwheat noodles. Top that with some slivers of cucumber, half a hard-boiled egg, slices of apple, pickled spicy cabbage, roasted peanuts and sesame seeds, and what you have is a refreshing and satisfying meal. Very decent portion size at a reasonable price ($11.00) too! I also ordered dukbokgi ($8.00) since I had a craving, which was pretty standard compared to most other places in terms of flavor, but it was sufficient to satisfy the spicy, chewy rice cake goodness I was looking for. Would def go back to this place and try some of their other offerings!
google avatar

Julia X.

Yelp
come here for the kimchi mandus and the malatang! this is an unassuming little storefront on northern blvd. it's pretty small inside with no ambience to speak of, but it's very clean and the workers are friendly and efficient. they're known for their massive buns which come in cabbage&pork and kimchi&pork flavors - both types are filled with cabbage, pork and glass noodles. the cabbage&pork ones are good, but the kimchi ones are amazing! just the right amount of spiciness. just one bun is enough for a meal.
google avatar

Joe C.

Yelp
Wonderful, steaming hot, fresh, overstuffed kimchi and pork bun for $2.50? Check. Option to get a less spicy (but just as delicious) pork and vegetable bun for $2.00? Check. Big bowls of dumplings? Check. Well, I'm good. For someone else, they have other items on the small (but large enough) menu. For me, once I see the staff preparing fillings on a big, clean counter in their open kitchen set up, I'm going for dumplings and buns!

El R.

Yelp
Ive been coming here for almost 3 years and am so disappointed I have to write this. I ordered my item at 3:33pm and by 4:04pm, nothing had came out. Come to find out it had been ready for 20 minutes already in a bag and they never notified me even though I was sitting right in front them. They even were the ones to tell me to sit and wait, yet completely forgot. They gave me the food with a cheap sorry and then continued to talk with other customers, laughing and smiling, as if everything was ok. I brought it up and said that was not acceptable. The only thing they could offer was more apologies and it took some pushing from me to ask them to make my order fresh again given my food was left out. How about a partial refund or something? I missed my train home because of this, and almost missed the last train before LIRR's peak charging. Sadly, this was the nail in the coffin for me and I will not be coming back. If the food were not for someone else at home, I would've asked for a refund because that experience was just not handled well
google avatar

Emerald Z.

Yelp
Love their big buns! Especially the kimchi one. Great value. I also got some frozen chive and shrimp dumplings and it was delicious! I think it was $27 for 50pcs. Would love to try other dishes next time. Cash only!
google avatar

Yelp
We love dumplings and hand rolled noodles so checking out this place was a must for us based on the great reviews and high ratings. The space is small and welcoming we decided to take out but there are a number of small tables and chairs to diamond. No paper menus were available and menu items were written mostlyIn Chinese with pictures. Employees were eager to describe

Yelp
We love this place so much we stop by here anytime we are in Flushing. We had to buy a whole bag of wangmandus because they are our favorite. Not a lot of places that handmake such delicious dumplings daily. They are a super convenient and fast restaurant for take out so please support them during these times!!

A B.

Yelp
Giant kimchi pork bun is spicy, full of flavor, and insanely affordable. Also tried a couple varieties of dumplings and the portions are generous (10 per serving I think) and they're tasty. It was a little confusing ordering takeout - I first went to the lady at the register and it seemed she was taking my order, but then after telling her my whole order and going to give her my card, she directed me to a digital touch screen kiosk by the door where I had to input my order and then pay by card. So just go straight to the kiosk and order, I'm guessing. The buns were handed to us instantly but the dumplings took a bit of time - I think they're filled by hand when you order them! And it's cool to chill and watch the staff making buns and dumplings through the window while you wait.
